This was one of my relic hunts I would be glad to forget about. I came into the woods, because of a bad day I wanted to forget about. My goal was to tank energy.
It started decent with some potential but then everything that can go wrong came together. Finds were few and between, with plenty of unwanted items. 1700’s coin and a button were the highlights, before I had to cross a path. Because of some noises made by people behaving like they often do in a quiet forest, I’ve decided to pass the path as quickly as possible. That’s when a signal appeared… Because of the shallow depth, I assumed it is going to be trash and made it quick. To my shock and surprise, it was a 1600’s silver coin, broken… One of the ultra fragile ones that already split into pieces when the soil around is moving.
I couldn’t believe my “bad luck” and kept continue detecting with a mood hitting the lowest possible point. After finding a similar sounding signal, I knew it’s going to be another silver coin. This time I had no excuses. I had to extract it without a “scratch”. You saw what happened… Roots, rocks, small slips of the blade. The soil was moving, I couldn’t even get this plug out as I wanted. I was still close to the path, already frustrated.
On top of that, my “new” camera overheats and releases chemical fumes I have to inhale during the entire hunt, especially when I’m bending over the target while digging. I then try not to breathe. Because of my sensitive sense of smell, it drives me crazy and makes me want to extract the item as quickly as possible.
When I saw that the second silver coin is broken, I was devastated. It took me two weeks to even look at the finds at home, while making this video.
