hell yeah, fuck yeah, i feel like killing it This one goes out to all the fans of both Death Grips AND Dimension 20 (all two of u) go watch Dimension 20: A Starstruck Odyssey on Dropout.tv
Tachyons are hypothetical particles that move faster than light, not just a Death Grips song. Also Death Grips are the most mainstream underground band in modern music, so I wouldn’t call it “obscure” per se
Hilo Takenaka all due respect, I have never heard of death grip before in my 25 years of life, and I actively seek out new music on the reg. just cause they’re popular underground doesn’t mean they’re popular in mainstream, so I think obscure is still fitting
@@hilotakenaka Yeah but they are what MC Ride is explicitly referring to. Hence "Subatomic penetration, rapid fire through your skull." So the two aren't unrelated. Also they did say "obscure pop", which could really be read as meaning the exact same thing as "mainstream underground".
I agree I could see him being a Death Grips fan, but to say he's "in character" is a bit weird. He's not a character, he's a whole-ass human being dude
@@EyebrowsGaming And human beings can do things that are in or out of character. Humans have character. There's even a special kind of witness in legal proceedings that speak on a person's character.
Hey friends, guess who learned how to pin comments! Brennan is referencing a song that exists in the Starstruck universe called Tag Along with a Tachyon. Someone here in the comments pointed that out a while back, and the song was mentioned later in the season. However this video simply asks "what if Brennan Lee Mulligan was noided and was making a reference to the song Takyon by Californian experimental hip hop group Death Grips"
I never thought that I was the only one who would understand "Oh, that's Death Grips. Talking about Death Grips in this episode." NEVER did I think that. That being said, I'm delighted beyond easy expression to see how not alone I am.
I did not get it at the time and had no idea how I might find it, so thank you so much for making this and also for that INCREDIBLE sync with Emily's eyes. Honestly all the reactions are great fun to watch to the music like this.
I thought there was a different takyon, didn't want to get my hopes up that brennan is a death grips fan. Is death grips considered an obscure pop reference??
Wait was that what he was actually referencing? I immediately thought that, but it was so random and obscure I felt assured he was talking about something I just didn't know.
Okay so to explain: In real life, tachyons are theoretical particles that move faster than the speed of light, though they're purely hypothetical (that's the very short answer, I am not a scientist, no one @ me over this). In science fiction like Star Trek or Babylon 5, tachyons are often used to explain how space ships travel in hyper speed. In this episode, a professor Brennan is playing is explaining tachyons to a class and makes a teacher joke about how anyone familiar with pop music would already know about tachyons. The song in this vid is the song Takyon (DeathYon) by Death Grips, a song that is about/references tachyons, which I assume this song is what Brennan was referencing, but obv I don't know for sure if that's what he meant.
He's actually referencing an in-universe song in Starstruck called Tag Along With A Tachyon, but Death Grips also have a song called Takyon and that idea was way funnier to me
is this confirmed? Like I had the thought while watching "haha that would be funny if Brennan were referencing death grips but i'm sure it's something else"... but like... was he really?
The simple answer is: I have no idea if this is what he meant. I don’t believe he’s said anything about it, unless it came up in his recent Reddit AMA. I personally think it seems a bit too coincidental for him to not be referencing this song specifically, but I also certainly wouldn’t argue with anyone who disagreed. Until he one day confirms or denies, the secret of Did Brennan Reference Death Grips in Episode 1 of A Starstruck Odyssey dies with him 😛
