My best friend showed me this song 8 years ago and today I found out he took his life. This was his favorite song by Oh Sleeper. I’ve been listening to this song in repeat all day long. For those who don’t feel as if they can keep going remember those who you will leave behind. I know I will miss him every day of my life.
In the end of days the father will have his glory. Satan will be defeated. Stay strong. I love you and care even though I know you not. Why cause I see his heart for his children and you will be comforted in this time of morning.
Now y ou know what millions of Palestinians have been living with for over 50 years. Oppression...slavery....TYRANNY. there is only one thing Tyrants understand...VIOLENCE.
I think my favorite part is the "Hush Little Yael I'm sorry your lungs are empty...but in your new home...That man will not be seen". I don't know why but that one phrase just tears me up, and that's not normal with metal, lol.
@@TR-px9iq It would do well to understand the context rather than just one verse of many. Isaiah 45:1-13 describes the coming of Cyrus the great of Persia to defeat the Babylonians. The Jews were punished by God for turning away from him and worshipping false idols. He gave them over to Babylon who ruled over them for many years. Then Cyrus conquered Babylon and allowed the Jews to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem and move back to their homeland. Isaiah 45:7 "I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I the Lord do all these things." Describing how he uses those things to get our attention. The Jews were given good times when they followed God wholeheartedly, the were given disaster when they turned from him for idols made by human hands. Isaiah 45:11-13 "This is what the Lord says - the Holy One of Israel, and its Maker: Concerning things to come, do you question me about my children, or give me orders about the work of my hands? It is I who made the earth and created mankind on it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts. I will raise up Cyrus in my righteousness: I will make all his ways straight. He will rebuild my city and set my exiles free, but not for a price or reward, says the Lord Almighty."
This song represents the conviction of Samir Kuntar for murder of an Israeli policeman, 31 year-old Danny Haran, and Haran's 4-year-old daughter, Einat Haran, whom he killed with blunt force against a rock. He was also convicted of indirectly causing the death of two-year-old Yael Haran by suffocation, as her mother, Smadar, tried to quiet her crying while hiding from Kuntar. When you know the meaning to these lyrics, it really fills you with such animus and emotion.
This is the song that introduced me to my favorite band of all time. The lyrics and melodies this band produce cut me open all the way to my soul and fill me with overwhelming joy and emotions that I can’t put into words. If you’ve never seen them live you are missing so much. Can’t wait for what’s next
this is one of my favorite bands and im not religious at all. i just like the fact that their songs are awesome, they actually have meaning and tell a story whatever it may be.
too be fair, this isn't about religion. It's about a terrorist, who came on a beach in a rubber boat, shot an israeli cop, went to an appartment, the mother went with her daughter Yael to the neighbors to hide, the terrorist took the father and the other daughter, shot the father, hit the daughter with the but of his gun, and the mother had to suffocate her daughter to keep her quiet so the mother and neighbors would live. The terrorist was caught and sent to prison. Which is why it says in the song sorry for your empty lungs.
+Jeremy Richardson and technically, since this song is included in an album consisting of a strict story, you can argue that while it was written about one thing, it can indeed have it's place in the story of this album... thus locating it within a setting where everyone sees the battle between God and Satan. Especially when you notice the reaction to the story in this song, it fits more within the context of the album's fuller story rather than Oh, Sleeper's own response to the tragedy.
@@Droptima15 There is some theology, Yael is told she can be at ease in heaven because the man that broker her family isn't there. (meaning he's in hell). In Christianity, all sleep until the resurrections, some believe in one of both good and evil and some believe in two of good first then evil later on. In Christianity the one goodness of God is in his perfect judgment. There is peace knowing the monster, Samir Kuntar, that murdered to satiate his hate, will be judged double for everything he did.
This song made me cry in anger and vengeance. It made me think if this kind of fate would've happened to my family and especially my 3 yr old little sister.
One thing I like about this band for sure is the fact that they aren't as vague. Seriously, this song has a SPECIFIC date that you can google and learn exactly what the song is all about. These guys rock, cant wait to see them in march!
Heard this song a few months ago but didn't know the back story.. Last week pastor Prince included the story in his sermon. Now I linked up. Feel pretty sad but love this song so much.
Bobby Ewing: samir kuntar and other terrorists from lebanon attacked a family from israel , they took 2 year old Yael's father and her sister einat haram who was only 4 . Yaels mom hid with her and a bunch of neighboors in a secret spot but she suffocated little Yael in an effort to save everyone else . "Hush little Yael , im sorry your longs are empty , but in your new home that man will not be seen"
This band is absolutely amazing, not just because of how pleasing the music is to my ears... But the fact they probably have the deepest lyrics out there, and they help fight so many problems out there.. Every time I hear this song, knowing the story and reading the lyrics it really saddens me to know the vile person who committed this is free. All in all this is my favourite band. Keep the good work up guys!
@@ferretscan Lmao true. Yael was the girls name so if the song really hold something special to someone they can name their daughter that instead of having it as a third name.
This song always stood out too me and I didn't know why. Till I read the lyrics and looked up the history, I understand why It was always in my head. My heart goes out to the mother. I myself am a mother and could not imagine such pain. The end of the song is my favorite part, that is exactly how I would feel. Great job portraying this life in such an awesome passionate song.
I agree with oddrealism. Under oath has been one of my favorite bands for over 2 years and I wish there were more bands like them. This is the second song I've heard by oh sleeper and I'm already hooked.
Wow. The song was icredible to me before I even looked up the lyrics and story. I say, God bless Israel. God bless Yael and God bless Oh Sleeper for their efforts in this song to bring this story to light!
This video indeed has depth...my fave part is "we will make these victims our martyrs" This video is a testament to us as christians and followers of God! Those who die for God need not to die in vain. Rise up and take up the banner of Christ and take the fight to the world! I n doing this we take the fight to satan himself! So Rise and Fight!
@@udaman100 It can easily be googled but the summary is a Palestine terrorist group went into the night to kill an Israeli family. The mother hid with her daughter (Yael) and watched as the group murdered her husband and other daughter. Yael also died because her mother accidentally suffocated her in an attempt to quiet her down so their hiding spot wont be discovered.
"The album also follows two characters, one being an overzealous religious type who feels betrayed that he had devoted his life to God and that God has abandoned him. This drives his faith to unfurl, and it reveals that he had a shallow understanding of God. The other character is his daughter, who was a profound atheist, but became proven wrong after witnessing the battle between God and Satan."
Can you explain that to me? I read the lyrics and know the backstory of that song. Do you mean that the growling parts are the thoughts of the first one and the clean vocals are the other one‘s?
i love the quotes here " we are all weavers in the loom of slaughter" but the one at the end " hush little yael in your new home that man will not be seen" my heart broke :'(
Easily one of my top three favorite Oh Sleeper songs. Everything - the riffs, rhythms, instrumental performances, lyrics, and vocal delivery - communicates some of the most profound anguish, indignation, outrage, and fury I've ever felt from a metal or metalcore song. Some additional comments about my favorite aspects, since apparently I can't stop listening to this song: - that snare-kick-snare-kick introduction to the brutal segue at the beginning is the perfect way to start - as always, I love the complex and cleanly executed rhythms they pull off in these first parts too - "22nd day of the fourth month", the emphasis on every 3rd 8th note from the snare drum really makes this section a joy to listen to - the guitar shredding ending in those dissonant, almost alarm-like high notes - the vocal delivery on "make him beg for his life" and "he'll never know what it's like" is perfection - the relentlessness of the end section, it's just the most heart wrenching way to end
I find it interesting that you can find the most intellectually well-thought and well-informed conversations in the most unlikely of places... like the comment section of a youtube video
Tell about a time of great loss, tragedy, and an evil most fowl ..... In a way we can all see ourselves in their shoes.... and they go for that 1979 terrorist attack... not bad... very well illustrated and it has great delivery and impact.
@aaronconlin After I reread it, it was Moshe Sasson. Wikipedia said that after he got hit, the hall lights went out and he escaped. Still not a coincidence.
I have been trying to remember this song all day, couldn't remember the lyrics or the name or anything, but I remembered the song from a while back and it was killing me that I couldn't remember. I tried to look it up and remembered "hush," a beach, the family dying, and oh sleeper, but I forgot oh sleeper was a band cuz its been so long...so glad I finally found it, even though the song is heartbreaking
You missed the story big time lol! It's very sad tough... But 1997ghost1 is right, it's not our job to take vengance, but we can trust our Lord who will punish those evil people here (through autorities) and in eternity (in eternal fire if they don't repent).
Wrote this on my FB wall this morning, copy/pasting... The tattoo on my left forearm is the logo of the band Oh, Sleeper. To everyone else it's upside-down, to me it's a reminder, one that I got after hearing and investing in this song. It's based on the tragic murders committed by Palestine Liberation Front militants against an Israeli family in the night. As they murdered a father and his 4 y/o daughter on the beach, his other 2 y/o daughter, Yael, was accidentally smothered to death by her mother as she was trying to keep her silent while they hid in a closet. Evil exists in this world, and people are the ones that create it. There are Devils in this world, and they are in or close to our homes. But there are Angels in this world as well, and they are just as close. It's a daily commitment, a daily choice of which one you want to be, never frivolous. Any one of us can become the zealous, overly passionate believer in (fill in the blank) without realizing that we're slowly becoming the person willing to bash a 4 y/o girl's skull on the rocks with the butt of a rifle. Or we can be the one the protects them and eliminates that evil, bit by bit, from this place we call home. Who do you want to be? Who do you want to protect and watch as they flourish? Can we make this hell a home? Are you doing that now? Some, by no fault of their own, will never get that chance. It's up to us, and every day when I see that symbol I'm reminded of that.
Let the dead rest they where called back to the gates and will watch over their son R.I.P the Haran family and god have mercy on all who where affected in any and all ways close to this incident....may they find peace and justice where they reside in gods care...
Christian faith needs warriors to defend its flock, and to help protect the weak and innocent. Evil men won't stop doing evil things, we need defenders of the faith.
@Cemahla Yael was suffocated when her mother tried to keep her quiet so they wouldn't be found. The father was shot in the back and drowned and the sister was killed with the end of the gun, it's all in the lyrics and it's an extremely sad story.
1.bringer of news: somebody who brings or announces important news 2.sign of what will happen: somebody or something that is a forerunner of something or gives an indication of something that is going to happen 3.official messenger: an official messenger and representative of a king or leader in former times
This song tells the most heartbreaking story ever... It really does prove that "we are the masters of sin and slaughter". It really makes it hard to have faith in the human race...
