They have and probably always will get pushed back due to people not giving them a chance because of the Christian band stigma but if people would just look passed that they would see how insanely amazing the band is as a whole
in the first chorus my heart and soul felt a shock like an awakening. When he screams, "Don't go!" my eyes started watering. When he said "Where is Your voice coming from?" and "Show me a sign I can trust." I started crying..... finally hearing words that I can relate to and understand is so powerful. We are all searching for something and there is God who loves us and wants us to know He is there. Thank you Oh, Sleeper for listening to Him...
WELCOME HOME BROTHER. WE ARE ALL THE MEN OF GOD WHO NEED TO SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER! DO NOT BE BLIND, FIND A CHURCH, JOIN A BIBLE STUDY GROUP, READ THE BIBLE, STUDY IT!!!!!!!! Ephessions 6:10-18 is my daily prayer. WE NEED THE ARMOR OF GOD TO LIVE IN THIS EVIL WORLD!
This song is sick and the band is very good, but this is not because of christian lyrics. Don't be stupid, don't believe in a flying bearded man in the sky, believe in good music and christian values instead.
@@physikus7888 who ever said God was a flying bearded man? Sounds like you listen to the group that claims that God is a flying spaghetti monster as well.
Do you remember the days when they said its the music of satan? Guess they're not listening to any lyrcis at all... Screaming doesn't mean you're a satanic freak biting off chicken heads. I love this song!
And if you should ask them what they listen to 7 times out of 10 its some recycled piece of shit top 100 grammy winning sorry ecxuse for "music" they picked up from the local radio.
This song describes today's Christianity perfectly. Who do we trust? DO they even Preach Jesus name to save souls or to fatten their pockets? You may fool man, but God sees all. I'll stick to the voice of God in the Word, and the voice that rests within my heart. These tattooed young men that so- called sing this"satanic" music have saved more young souls than these wolves in sheep clothing ever will. Have faith brothers and sisters, we have Jesus and each other. The only thing that the powers of this world have is a coffin that is waiting to seal their fate when the time is right.
@@dutchdoggo for some it's not they're own way but what the bible says unto man and what jesus phrophisized to his disciples. For other people, you can make a false God in your head off of a lot of the stuff they say.
This band may be religious. But this song speaks to me, not in a religious way at all. But that everything will be okay in the end, it's all about your personal interpretation. I am not religious myself, but I can still appreciate this song.
That's 100% true. My goal is to have a relationship with God, not to be religious. I don't want this to turn into a "religion feud" so that's all i'm saying about that.
Good thing with whole this album and story behind it, that u can relate to it whether u are christian or not. I am not religious at all, and dont believe in gods, devils, angels or any made up beings, but as a moral human being I think lyrics in this whole album are absolutely amazing.
"the artist put together a message to say something specific, but I'm just going to ignore the important bits and just pay attention to certain ones cause the purpose of the song is definitely to just glean whatever you want from it."
Ive been playing guitar for 5 years & I've never had the balls to sing... Until I heard these guys & now I just belt it out. Funny that we learn & help each other without trying sometimes. Thanks Oh Sleeper, you guys sound awesome, definitely inspired!
This song made me cry! And that's not an easy feat. I am in love with this band. It gives me hope, comfort, and understanding where it hadn't existed before. Never give up. \m/
"In the Wake of Pigs" by Oh, Sleeper explores the struggle of finding genuine leadership and faith in a world consumed by greed and false intentions. The lyrics depict a sense of desperation for guidance and a yearning for something more meaningful. In the first verse, the song criticizes leaders who preach causes for personal profit rather than genuine beliefs. The line "Who sow without growing believers" suggests that these leaders manipulate and judge others without realizing that their own actions and influence shape people's faith. The narrator expresses a desire to find authenticity, a "voice that's pure," to lead them on their path. The chorus emphasizes the message of hope and unity. It highlights the idea that even in the darkest times, there are others going through similar struggles and they can support each other. They become the "lighthouse shining a lamp from the shore," guiding each other home. The second verse intensifies the plea for guidance and the fear of losing one's way. The narrator recognizes the need for a voice that keeps urging them forward, pushing them to climb and strive for more. The lyrics portray a desperate search for something to believe in, a beacon or sign to merit continuing the journey. The chorus is repeated, emphasizing the message of unity and encouragement. It reminds the listener that they are not alone and that they can find solace in the collective strength of those who have gone through similar battles. The battle has been won, suggesting that the struggle is not in vain. The outro evokes the image of spreading one's wings and embracing change. It refers to the call of the "future flock," symbolizing the hope for a better, more authentic existence. The narrator confidently asserts that the listener is "coming home," implying a sense of finding their place and purpose. Overall, "In the Wake of Pigs" conveys a search for genuine leadership, faith, and identity in a world filled with deceit. The song encourages unity, resilience, and the pursuit of a more meaningful existence.
I can't really describe how strong this song hits me. How much it means to me, and how it saved me. The songs, through the emotion conveyed be it through the vocals or the guitars..it gets my blood rushing, it stands my hair on end. But most of all, it feels like there is a hand on my shoulder. This album gave me hope at a very bleak time. It gave me comfort at my weakest.
I'm not a Christian. I am actually an atheist. However, Oh, Sleeper is one of my favorite bands off all time. It saddens me that no one really likes to point out the fact that they write such amazing lyrics.
So glad to hear that! God is the source of "the love that can pierce through the callous", and he is your beacon to merit pressing on, and the lighthouse that shines the lamp from the shore. Jesus loves you more than anything!!
this song i feel represents the internal battle, a struggle, inside someone who sees the world and how it becomes and where the hell he/she fits in. The second time i heard this song i realized that the singing parts are supposed to convey someone of pure body and astounding intellect encouraging someone, the screamer, to continue on in the wake of pigs (people that are easily influenced) and answer the call that has been presented to him/her; to be the hero they have denied
Guys. You of us who are christians watching this video... The only thing Jesus himself said for sure... Is to Unconditionally love one another regardless, of religion or race. Please start trying to use your love to change the world, and not hateful words!!!!!
this song actually made me cry I've reached a point where I can only see "pastors" or "leaders" demanding money instead of looking after the peoples needs and hunger for god. I actually thought that I was the only one seeing it this way and I was really going nuts thinking that I was the one who was wrong. After this song it made me realize that I'm not the only one searching for real faith, for a real meaning of god and life
they played this song a Creation Festival a few days ago!!! we were jumping and screaming along and we all raised our hands to them when it got to "You are not alone in the eye of the darkest storm"
these guys are all kinds of inspirational! i love the music they put out there and i love that they stick behind their cause! keep up the great work guys
i love this song! def my fav on the album! and i love the message of the lyrics...its similar to the problem me and my friends are having with my church...this song says it all!
This song... is beautiful. We all get to this point sometimes where we want a tangible sign or a person to show us where we are supposed to go next in life because we just feel so lost and like we're drowning in the questions we have marked with the answer as "unknown." Humans are full of fault, we cannot base our trust on the works of another man or woman, we must listen for the voice of God and find His "beacon of light." Others may look to you for leadership, but lead them to follow the Lord.
this song has inspired me as no other song. others may not feel anything as they listen and read the lyrics, and i get them, but to me, this is really powerful.
I can see why you would easily get agitated because of all the preaching that does take place on christian metal bands pages on youtube. But coming from a christian metal band myself I have to say. it is encouraging to see that a christian metal bands music influences someone to do better in their faith. that is all he was saying. I hope you have a blessed day. God loves you. whether you believe that or not. :)
it has a 2 fold meaning in the storyline it's the children of Fire telling the daughter (a character in the album) that shes not alone, it's also her thinking in her mind about how "I changed from certain to searching" how she saw God destroy the devil and now everything she believed has crumbled. now she's beginning her faith while the ones without a relationship with Christ lose their faith. the other meaning is to the listeners telling them that no matter what they're not alone with God
i love this band idk why, but i enjoy every single song OH God thanks for the gift of music, and not only this kind of music, the diversity on music around the world is one of the things that make humans unique to the eyes of our God imo :).
I love religon bands like this and fit for a king because it's not like stereotypical Christian music where they explicitly mention god and jesus. Oh,Sleeper do religon music in such a way it doesn't feel like religon is being forced down your throat.
This song to me starts with his church frustrations. Pastors who let profit guide what they say in services. He feels like his faith is becoming dry and his life going downhill and he has no leader to look to or voice to guide him. The clean vocalist then comes in and becomes that voice, urging him to push on and letting him know that he's not alone in the battle, that in fact his battle is already won.
I'm in love with this song I listen to it all the time I'm friend showed it to me when I was having a terrible day and I'm so happy he showed it to me this song helps me so much on days I just wanna give up
Spread wide your wings, let the wind sail you up, you've heard the crow of the future flock, you're coming HOME! that is my favourite part in the lyrics
