The hi-fi's, LPs, USBs kill the beautiful bands, not mentioning the cost putting up a complete band to produce beautiful music. I believe there are still good musicians to entertain us.
Should be played twice as fast to be "authentic".This is a major problem I have with all of the Miller ghost bands.I keep hearing how the quality of musicians has improved over those many years ago, but I have yet to see proof of it.If they are as good as is said they should be at LEAST swinging as hard as Glenn's original crew,if not better. But we get things like this where the tempos are all wrong and/or the arrangements are frigged with.Larry Bruff brought up this very point in his wonderful book"What Simon didn't say".He attended a rehearsal of Tex's band when he took it over and knew right off what he was hearing was not what Glenn would have played. He said so but of course nothing was done.It is one thing to be officially licensed and have access to the original scores but if it's not at least played with the oomph and power of the original band, what's the point?
With all due respect, you're so wrong it's not even funny. Have you ever played this chart? Twice as fast would be (to put it kindly) absurd. As for the "wrong tempo", I guess you should dig up Glenn (if you can find him) and have a little talk about the tempo the ORIGINAL civilian band played it on this live broadcast: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-gUvTD_pw8xo.html
