This video compares the internals of the AGCO 3710280M3 oil filter (same part number as DENSO FC115010-5241, Iseki 6213-240-002-2 ), AGCO 72201898, Wix 51360 (same as NAPA 1360), and Fram Extra Guard PH4386. Note, I incorrectly refer to the spring in the Wix and AGCO casing as the bypass valve. The bypass for those two filters is build into the metal filter casing. Please refer to the Round 2 video ( • Massey Alternate Oil F... ) for updated info.
Also discussed are the Fram Ultra XG4967, Mobile One M1-103A, Wix 51394, and Bosch 3311

Great video, I've been saying that about filters. I run the wix filter. And there is absolutely no benefit to run the agco over the wix. Oil is rotella full synthetic. And shell hydraulic oil. Again great video Ed. I've been waiting for that one.

I think the Wix WL10114 (NAPA FIL 400114) might be an equivalent hydraulic filter, but it's $36 so not really a big savings. I still might buy one and cut it open though to compare because I know for some it's not just the money but also accessibility that matters if their dealer is a long drive away.

Super cool video thanks Ed , can;t wait to see if you will do something similar at one point for the hydraulic filter :-)

I intend to make an attempt to find alternatives or at least cut the old one open to look inside. Service manual says it filters to 10 microns though, so need to find ones that are rated for 10 microns.

Note about the oil refill 09:30. DO NOT try to fill too fast or you end up with oil making it into the cylinders. Take it easy pouring that oil in! Also, 02:46 for anyone wondering, that is not bird poop on my shirt. It's paint.

First off great job Ed I could have sent you my filter cutter tho lol, anyway thays why it's better most times to stick with OEMs the difference in media is surprising and very important for proper flow and contaminants holding for proper service interval not to mention proper bypass setting that's why the older part number for the 2000 series should not be used. There's no end caps on the ISEKI/DENSO filers because the bead of glue seals it, the DENSO/ISEKI filter is a quality part rest assured and has a much better free-flowing center tube,, That orange FRAM I don't need to tell ya is junk!. If one could find a filer with same amount of media and by pass it wouldn't be bad but what I'm finding now just isn't cutting it for my equipment. Also close but that Delvac extream is the older formula part number(black jug) "semi" synthetic not full, you want the new formula full synthetic 'silver jug" I think I posted a picture before on Facebook but that's still a good oil though, and finally thanks for showing you pouring it in and starting it 😂 good job Ed 👍

Thanks Dan. Yeah, the Fram PH was not good. For the oil, that was a whole different research rabbit hole. I saw Delvac Advanced Full Synthetic online but only 5W30. Advanced Auto had Synthetic Extreme and the Premium Synthetic Blend Extreme. Both product descriptions said they were a blend, so I just got the bottle that I was able to easily find and by "easily" I mean I had to ask because it was stored in the back. I've been thinking about the dealer using 15W40 and I think the dealers don't want to have different bulk containers with risk that technicians mix them up so they just stock 15W40 for simplicity reasons with low risk. I'll be sticking with 10W30 in mine from this point forward.

Interesting video Ed. But when a guy spends $20,000 on equipment to use I don't think I'm going to substitute a off-brand filter unless it's identical. And even then probably not. I know it's expensive through AGCO but I want to make sure that it working correctly. If you're going to buy the toys you have to keep them up. And I really don't trust a cheap alternative filter. If five bucks difference going to break you then you really shouldn't have a tractor like this. That's the way I look at it. But I am a farmer contractor and own a gold mining operation and I use my GC Massey's which I have a 1705 and a 1710 tlb GC. I probably put on about 250 hours a year on each tractor

I'm just gonna stick with the AGCO too, but it's not all about price. One of my reasons for looking into this was to make sure the Denso brand filter that AGCO sells really is a good one and not just a big price tag with junk under the cover. I had never even heard of Denso before buying the GC, but it's clearly a quality filter. Watch the round 2 video. The Bosch is a really good filter and the Fram XG4967 is also very good inside even though I didn't personally cut that model Fram open. studio.ru-vid.comlZVEU-Ur_SA/edit

@Redneck_Ed thanks that I have already watched number 2 quite a while back here probably an hour ago or so maybe even a little longer but I'm still sticking with the AGCO filter. I also like the fact that it's pre lubed

I use a MF GC1710 for my landscape business. 3100 hours and have used NAPA 1360 and Rotella T4 15w-40 since the first few oil changes. My closest dealer is a hike for me. I change oil faithfully at 100 hours. Going to switch to WIX after seeing this video. Thanks.

Does Purolator have an equivalent filter? I have always had good luck with their auto filters. I will say it is likely I will just go to my local Massey dealer and buy what they sell me. For the amount of money I have invested in my tractor I am not likely to have a problem paying an extra $5 or $10 for a filter.

L14476 (or PL or PBL) is a Purolator equivalent. I didn't include Purolator because I had to draw the line somewhere. You can pretty much just Google "INSERTBRANDNAMEHERE 3/4-16 oil filter" and you will find all sorts of filters that will fit. I am all for OEM, but will never blindly go with the OEM again on any engine without cutting one open on the first oil change to see the inside. If you go to the dealer, make sure they don't give you the 722 for your tractor like one of my local dealers did to me. Get the 371.
