When Rey was packing to leave the island we get a glimpse of what she puts in the bin. The sacred Jedi texts. The knowledge lives on.

I know you can't remember everything but This humor wouldn't happen with Lucas? Further jar jar? Remember when he got his tongue stuck in the power coupling and it went numb? How about when the creature farted in his face or when he stepped in poop? Many more examples, but Lucas had many examples of slap stick and over the top humor in his movies.

I think people get confused because humor changes over the years, and each trilogy has a different style of humor. But definitely in all 3

lol i never read someone interpreting that moment like that. when ben/kylo was a baby and a young boy he played with the dice all the time. you have to read the novelization of tlj and read the leia book to really get that moment. the surface level take that was easy to understand was that its just for leia to remember han and ben

Fans resent this film because it is outright telling the audience to let go of any nostalgia-based expectations they have. "Let the past die. Kill it if you must." Rian Johnson is speaking through Kylo Ren to the audience with those lines. All the nostalgia and everything that comes with a massive decades-old franchise like Star Wars can feel like a burden to some filmmakers. You wanna bring something new and some fresh perspectives, but you can feel confined to formula and stifled by sentiment. You also have to battle against whatever expectations that the fanbase have built up in their heads, knowing that you're likely going to disappoint at least some of then no matter what you do. Johnson seems incredibly uncomfortable with all of that, so he's desperate to shed it in this movie. But in doing that, he simultaneously commits one of the big no-no's in filmmaking - he tells the audience not to care. "Oh, those answers you were hoping to get? Forget them because you're not getting them. Rey's parents? They were nobody. Who's Snoke? We're killing him off, so who cares? It doesn't matter, so it was pointless to become invested in that stuff." It makes the audience feel like they've wasted their time, and the last thing you want an audience who took their time and money to go see your movie to feel is that it was all a waste. On top of that, you have this whole social commentary subplot with Finn and Rose about the disparity between the wealthy and the poor that just felt like it didn't fit in with everything else that was going on, and the disappointment of seeing Luke Skywalker acting extremely out of character as if he forgot everything he learned in the Original Trilogy and then going out without putting up more of a fight. In the end, The Last Jedi leaves a massive mess for the next movie to franctically attempt to rectify. This movie really just derailed the series so badly that it still hasn't recovered. Between this and Rise of Skywalker, it has left Disney flummoxed as to what to even do with the story going forward. And Rian Johnson is better off making his own original movies like the Knives Out series because he just isn't a fit for these big lore-heavy blockbuster franchises.

Acrually no, firstly it was said by the villain. And by Luke. And what happened? Yoda appeared and changed it. That instead of letting the past die, we should learn from it. It's just that people have irrational hate for this movie because it wasn't what they expected. They wanted a marvel type of movie where Luke instead was a badass side character that faced the first order. But instead they kept telling the story of Luke failing hard to rise again and ending his story as the greatest jedi we've seen by sacrifising himself while facing the first order without causing a single death.

"Star Wars can feel like a burden " This is not the case for this movie. rian johnson has an incredible ego and truly believed he was making an incredible movie. "You also have to battle against whatever expectations that the fanbase have built up in their heads" This is also a falsity. It just had to follow the lore and be an interesting story to make this well loved.. "he tells the audience not to care." rian johnson's whole thing is "subverting expectations". His goal for a good movie is dividing the fanbase for half to love it and half to hate it. "On top of that, you have this whole social commentary subplot with Finn and Rose" and "Luke Skywalker acting extremely out of character as if he forgot everything he learned in the Original Trilogy" totally agree. "The Last Jedi leaves a massive mess for the next movie" ruin johnson and jar jar abrams hated each other which rj subverting all expectations from the first movie to abrams having to fix everything he laid out for the trilogy. ruin johnson is extremely over-rated from a personal perspective. knives out movies were not good and looper was just ok.

Thanks, Ashna! 🌄 I love this one quite a bit. 🔸 And to be clear, Jedi do *not* kidnap children. They offer parents a choice... and parents often understand the opportunity of becoming a Jedi is more preferable than the risk of an untrained Force sensitive kid who could go dark when drunk by their own power.

Rewatch the scene of Rey lifting the rocks. She actually got a major assist from Luke. It did not come across well on screen, but it was clear in the novelization. Her connection to Luke is how she knew he died.

In the showdown with Kylo Ren, Luke did a doppelganger. It´s a very hard jedi trick. He projected himself from Ach-To island using his last energies... before become one with the force... with two suns in the horizon... like in Tatooine. A powerful scene. And his projection looked younger because it was the last memory of him.

The Force Awakens is a work made by a coward. It's a literal copy of New Hope. Here, in order not to make a copy of The Empire Strikes Back, the director made a radical decision. The effects are disastrous: Luke Skywalker - the most optimistic person who fought to redeem his father is now a coward and a total loser. The actor who played Luke, Mark Hamil, said "Maybe it's Jake Skywalker" It wasn't Luke. Luke would never consider murdering his nephew. Rey becomes a Mary Sue. This was a moment for Rey to learn something, instead she tried to teach Luke something and then gave up. She decided to fight and succeeded. Admiral Holdo and her crazy maneuver destroying the entire fleet. First of all, why this character was introduced. When Leia becomes the space Batman, the fan-favorite character, Admiral Ackbar, dies. He dies like a total loser and an irrelevant character. Secondly, why has such a maneuver never been done before? Finn's Sacrifice: Well, Finn is willing to sacrifice himself to save his friends. Rose stops him and puts both herself and him at risk of death. They could even be shot by the enemy. Additionally, I really like the kiss against the background of the explosion of the galaxy's last hope. I don't know who came up with it, but he's a total genius😂 Snoke died. Who was he? What were his motivations? Well the main villain's potential was ruined. And don't worry in the next part after 30 seconds you will understand the biggest reason why this trilogy is the worst.

You have now experienced the movie where star wars died. This movie making Luke Skywalker a disappointment was the point. He is meant to be replaced by Rei. Notice the parallel of Rei trying to save kylo ren and luke saving his father for the same reason? Many of the Lucas Film writers hated luke skywalker. His character should have never been treated like this. They was the guy who brought Dath Vader back to the light but this movie had Lude try to kill his nephew on a whim.haldo is trash. there is no reason a droid couldn't pilot the ship even though using a ship as a weapon is lore breaking.

Started watching in the 80s so I started with originals. I liked the prequels the most. And still like the sequels even without a solid plan. There was no solid plan for the originals either. The shows are already making the sequels better to me. But I understand people don't have the attention span for that much content, it's great to me though.
@georgeide2337
@georgeide2337 Месяц назад
That's such a weird way to phrase it, as if all Star Wars critiques of the sequels are rage-bait videos and you are above it all. The flaws of the prequels were recognized by the reviews (written by the very Star Wars fans criticizing the sequels, I might add). ROTS was good, though, and it was received well by most people both at the time and ever since. I think where this comment loses all credibility is in completely omitting the fact that there are different levels of bad to anything. The prequels, despite their many flaws (not ROTS included), were still true to Star Wars, just with a lot more added politics and special effects which made the first two expecially feel boring. The Last Jedi and Rise of Skywalker, on the other hand, feel so far removed from Star Wars that there is no comparison.
