The positive intention is always the best tool for living. People live so stressed and angry, all they tink is about desires and random things, they get controlled by the environment. Just chill, practice a non-ambitious life and things will naturally come, since it's on our nature to adapt. Meditation is the best way to reach a state of calmness and inner peace.

I'm from Okinawa. I don't hate Americans.I like American culture and Okinawan culture.I hope the U.S.A. and Okinawa will get along better with each other in the future.🗽🏝 🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺🌺 今の沖縄は沖縄らしさが薄れて来ています。。

Wonderful example of living life to its fullest and in community that appreciate rather than despised others or make a living out somebody else's misery. Would love to visit sometime. My grandparents didn't like going to hospitals either, and we need the elders to live even longer. Part of the problem now is money, power, and a distorted view of what makes life a joy to live.

At 11:52 the focus is on goya, but doesn't care to go on to mention that the most popular dish with goya in Okinawa is Goya Champuru, a stir fried dish with goya bitter melon, tofu, egg, and pork belly (or spam is used). The Japanese government believes that it is collagen in pork that accounts for Okinawan longevity. The veggie folks want to paint over these facts.
@4GUESTS
@4GUESTS 5 лет назад
It's really common knowledge, but there's so much disinformation relating to it today. I hope you can learn to read between the lines out here. As far back as within the history of newspapers at least, the Japanese have nicknamed Okinawans "Pork Eaters". They eat every part of the Pig and pork lard is a common cooking oil in Okinawa. During WWII, the Okinawans showed the U.S. Military kindnesses and in return we dropped one of their top prized foods to them from helicopters (SPAM, pork in a can). By the 1990's the powers that be distributed disinformation in magazine and newspapers articles, making out that Okinawans eat little if any meat.

America is a plague on any country. Food is key to health and fighting disease. Eating a primarily if not a full plant based diet will do nothing but good for any person provided you learn about food combining to obtain the daily requirement of vitamins and minerals. I love that part of my family is from Okinawa.

I agree. You became plagued by American idea that "plant-based" shit is nutritious. Okinawans didn't eat plants. They ate large amounts of fish and fatty pork... until Americans invaded and destroyed all the pigs and introduced sweet potatoes. You are a disgrace to your ancestors.

The colder the climate, the more animal foods and fat in the diet: The Okinawans seem to live in a sub tropical or tropical climate. Look at the foods they grow. So, eating more veggies makes sense - for them. Even so, they are an island people, eating LOTS of fish and high cholesterol seafood. And they were fine. Eskimos live in extreme cold. They used to eat copious amounts of fat and meat previously. And they were fine. They were healthy and happy with little dental disease, heart disease and cancer. (I mean they ate supposedly unhealthy foods like straight blubber that they fermented. Then, they were also corrupted with western foods. Actually they began eating more grains and sugar in the form of jams pastries, bread, grains, fruit imported from southern climates. They ate less cholesterol and saturated fats! AND....they had devasting health effects.

When I listen to the Okinawan Rhythm in their music, there's an unbridled joy and carefree feeling. There's always a hop and syncopation. Maybe long life depends on being joyful, non-judgmental and carefree. Can't be happy on junk food which is a craving enslavement, not carefree joy. Try growing your own food, it will make you real happy. There's a symbiosis we share with plants and animals. Maybe that's it.

If you go to a supermarket in Okinawa today you see more fried foods than in the American south now. The younger generation--I'm referring to those below 50--have little connection to their older diet. Their culture still exists and is great but their original food has gone away except for a few specialty restaurants.

Well, they are partly 'cannibalistic'. It depends how pigs are feed and kept. Wild hogs are quite muscular. In chinese medicine pigs body parts are used as tonics for body. That's because human and pigs genetics are so similar. And as I said it's somehow 'cannibalistic' practise. But in the East they have different cultural standards than we have them in the West.

It is like my grandma who is in here late 80's in bad health for about 40+ manage to out live a lot of here family. In here youth she was 5ft and shrank to 4'8''. It is rare to see old average height people that out live the average life expectancy by a noticeable amount.

Okinawan bull fighting is not as cruel as it sounds. The animals are highly valued and well looked after. It really is more like sumo wrestling but with two big bulls trying to push another into submission. In fields two bulls might challenge each other for the territory and without the owners to pull them apart more damage might be done by charging. These bulls don't charge but begin head to head. Its hugely different than Spain and Mexico.
