Well sort of, first Mayfield had to give Oklahoma a reason to want him at all. Freshman walk-on Mayfield at Texas Tech. After being affected by injury and losing his starting job to fellow true freshman Davis Webb, Mayfield finished the 2013 season with 2,315 yards on 218-of-340 completions with 12 touchdowns and 9 interceptions. Mayfield was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Burlsworth Trophy in November; the award is given to the best player in Division I football who began his college career as a walk-on. Mayfield earned Big 12 Conference Freshman Offensive Player of the Year for the 2013 season. Mayfield announced that he would be leaving the program due to a "miscommunication" with coaching staff. Mayfield was a walk-on Big 12 freshman offensive newcomer of the year at Tech. Mayfield's early stardom shined at Tech.
He ain't there no more? Can you tell me who their QB is now? What about GAs? Or ALs? Or Lsu? Kyle Trask? Who in the F didnt even start in H.S. and TN just goes 7-5 or 6-6 man you people are clueless as HELL
Matthew Carroll Haha, me too. Tough game. Even tho people ragged on Tennessee, I thought their defense was pretty tough. I expect a tough game vs Georgia, but I expect the win.
a friend called & said he has season tickets & would I like to go - said thanks but we'll be on vacation in London. Got up early grabbed hubby's Ipad and checked - all I got was a pic of Stoops & Castegleon raising their fists in victory. WOW when I watched this. . .thank goodness for SOONER MAGIC !!!
Now that I've finally had a chance to see the highlights slowed down, the pass interference call in the back of the end zone was the right call. That ball was catchable. When it sails out of the end zone, it is EASILY within reach of a jump catch -- especially with a receiver about 6'4"-6'5." At 12:44 you can see just the angle of the ball. It was very catchable if Malik Foreman didn't barrel over him. I thought OU got away with one there on game day; turns out, the refs actually had it right. It still would have been a tough catch, though, so that was a huge mistake by the DB.
+The Labyrinthine Jar From the angle you mention, you can see A.D. Miller (the receiver) setting his feet to jump for the ball. It certainly looks like he would have a chance to get his hands on it. It would been a spectacular catch, but there were spectacular things going on in that game. That play wasn't even too controversial, given how out of control Malik Foreman was when the ball arrived. The false start by Kasatati on the Perine first down run was missed. No idea how things would have played out, but a huge play. I am Sooner born, so I am so happy they got out with the win. Neyland is a cool place for a college football game. I wish they would play that well in all of their games now that we are done with them.
+The Labyrinthine Jar Just a boneheading play by our DB. OU really got screwed on the scoop and score where they said Dobbs was stopped. So even if it had been a bad call, UT had nothing to complain about.
Never mind the 50 no-call false starts that prolonged that drive including the one on that play itself. Play never should have happened. Would have been 3rd and a mile and half.
Thanks for posting this Jada. I can't stop watching. I like that you show all of the highlights. HolaKyle posts great videos, but they are all one sided. I like seeing the adversity, makes it special.
Chris K Tennessee is just another weak sister in the sec, Georgia gets rolled by Texas, then gets stomped by LSU last year, The only teams in the SEC that are considered elite, is Alabama and LSU. Florida, SC, ark, vandy, the Mississippi schools auburn, Georgia haven’t won anything, Georgia had one playoff appearance. The sec is overrated, outside of Alabama, Having said that it’s not about weak power 5 conference’s anymore, because all of them are weak, college football power is now relegated to a handful of teams, Bama, Clemson, LSU as of late, although I don’t see LSU repeating now that Burrow is gone, but who knows. Ohio State is good until they make it to the playoff if they make it, they always seem to slip up on a team they should beat ala Purdue 2 yrs ago, the big 10 is weak also, Michigan isn’t what they should be, Wisconsin is Wisconsin. Acc only has Clemson, Florida State is down, the pac 12 is down until USC returns to greatness, Big 12 actually is not as bad as they get blamed for, If Texas keeps on recruiting like they have for the past 3 yrs they have the brand recognition to be great again, but only time will tell as they have underperformed the last 2 yrs. college football power isn’t spread out like it used to be, it’s only a few teams that are truly elite
Crazy to think that in this group of OU offense, one went on to get the Biletnikoff, two were Heisman candidates, four either are/ will be NFL starters this fall, and at least three will be drafted high next year. So In total, conceivably 7 of 11 players are NFL level
Look at how much NFL talent came from that Oklahoma team.. I was more upset at the time that we lost than I am now looking back at it. Mayfield, Mixon, Shepard, Westbrook, Orlando Brown.. just to name a few. The fact that Butch Jones played Jalen Hurd more at running back than Alvin Kamara makes me more upset.
4:20......the moment I realized that Baker Mayfield was special and covered in butter. Huge d lineman and Bake just squirms his way......btw, that was the loudest crowd I have ever experienced in my life and the Vol's fans were the politest and most friendly fans I've ever encountered at an away game.
That was the most exciting game I've ever had the privilege to watch and it still breathtaking even though I knew the outcome God bless up Baker Mayfield in the way he ran the team they respected him and he respected them
I WAS WATCHING THIS GAME BORN RAISED IN TENNESSEE BUT ALWAYS BEEN BIG OKLAHOMA FAN BET WHOLE DAYS PAY ON OKLAHOMA NEBRASKA OKLAHOMA WON DIDN'T THINK LIVE SEE THESE 2 TEAM PLAY I WAS FOR BETTING ON OKLAHOMA YOU KNOW REST GREAT GAME BAKER BAKER TOUCHDOWN MAKER
@@larryfinerty184 Tenn fans treated us so nice, was very enjoyable. Loudest freaking game, noise, concert whatever that I have experienced in my life....I will go back gladly any time
Both elite programs. Yes, there are times they dont win games they should -- but both these schools have great players and great coaches and PLAY TO WIN every time they take the field....
@@Garrett1240 I love all this "blue blood" BS. Tennessee, Texas, OU, Michigan, and others want to be elite bluebloods but have won almost nothing in 20 years. It is ridiculous.
Still brings back painful memories 😭 amazing game to watch even tho we lost. Cant wait for us to travel to norman this year for the 3rd recent installment of this game
This was 2015 when they lost to us 28-27. You're talking about this past season. I was actually in Neyland for that game. Up 21-0 and then we lose. Fuck. Was still fun though.
The difference from Tennessee and OU now. OU never fell off like Tennessee. Don’t expect a close game in the next match up. And don’t expect a win if guarantano is QB.
Jammin Well if Covid doesn’t cancel , I as a Vol fan don’t. Pruitt seems to be better than Butch Jones but no way has UT climbed back yet . I really feel bad for Guarantano. He is a good young man . He is tough . He has gone through upheavals at the UT program . He actually beat an off year but still competent ,dangerous Auburn team 2 years ago and got SEC Player of the week. He allegedly has good practices . Still as one fan noted he doesn’t seem to have that special something that makes you go “ Keep an eye on this kid he is going to the top and taking people with him . “ As far as the trenches are concerned scouting reports say UT could line up against anybody in the Country . Skill Players are touch and go . Some are still around but many have left .
@ Mark R And that was sad . Jones did put his heart and soul into it and had ideas , the right stuff . I saw good tactical plays as with that Missouri fake field go . Program wasn’t like under Dooley who was another good tactician but terrible recruiter . Nope this was the pivot year . Vols could have been 10 and 1 or even 9 and 2 . They had the talent . It wasn’t all Jones . I think some of this was some of the Assistants fault . OC Dibord had a few stellar plays like that fake at A and M a year later but basically I don’t think he evaluated Dobbs well and designed plays for him . Dobbs was not a Pocket guy and even broadcaster for a game said that and that was actually a criticism of Dibord
As a lifelong Vol fan , I guess Oklahoma replaced UCLA as the out of Conference foe . Cut down on the jet lag but ,damn , Vols have got to win one to make it a good series .
Todd Kelly actually did get injured on that play.. he was a guaranteed first round pick but dealt with a lot of injuries in his college career & ended up retiring from football before he could be drafted.
I forgot how effective UT's defense was in that game. No big runs by Mixon/Perrine, no deep shots over the top to Shep or Westbrook. Good win for OU. BOOMER!
John Manning This was a good game. Mayfield did will this one. Fast forward to 2017, HEISMAN WINNER. Amazing how much better of a player he has become since this game. Tennessee was a lot better then I remember
Hey let's don't forget he got a huge assist from Sterling Shepard in this game.... two touchdown catches and the move on the last one in overtime .? Shepherd was amazing
Here's the thing tho, we would have came back and won, we would not of had Mayfield, or Perine to face Alabama. They both got injured. I'd rather lose to Clemson than to Alabama.
Brent Venables the same guy coaching the defense for Clemson just came from Oklahoma after like 12 years.. its pretty easy to say he knows how our defense works.
TYSM for posting this vid. I set the DVR but never dreamed it would turn into a two OT game. I am very proud of the Sooners for once again beating an overrated SEC team. Did anyone notice Coach Jones seeking out Eric Striker after the game so he could tell HIM to show some class? LOL he needs to practice what he preaches! Modern day Woody Hayes and sore loser.
+NeedAPepsi Now LOL yeah because OK has soo much class. I guarantee you that if Tennessee would have won like that at OK, no tennessee player would be running around, cussing at fans, and nobody would flip off the crowd leaving the stadium, and if they did, you would want Stoops to tell them to show class..
@@JJ-zd9vs Florida fans know Bob Stoops is the reason Florida finally won their first National Championship. Remember Florida before Bob Stoops taught them how to play defense and Florida lost the title game to Nebraska by about 100 points? LOL!!! Yeah Stoops was SEC's daddy back then too.
@@robertmccoin1166 Yeah, same Bob Stoops that went 3-0 against the SEC's only Blue Blood program, 26-7 against SEC's current members, and beat LSU 56-13 while he was an Associate Head Coach. That Bob Stoops.
I'm still amazed that Riley called the WR pass on the 1st Sooner play of the 2nd overtime. I don't recall him ever calling that play again, and I don't think Westbrook was ever a QB. Mayfield made a bad initial pass so the play never developed. But if Westbrook throws a pick there, it's probably the game.
I hate how obviously bias that announcer was. “The ball was flying out of bounds” over and over when it was obv a catchable ball. In fact he almost did catch it on the ground.
That one was a heartbreaking, I'm not Tennessee fan but that one hurt me. But you OU fans don't act like y'all didn't see that push off #3 did to #13 that's the reason he felled on that last OU touchdown.
@@marksmalling8449 really!!! I'll have to look him up. One would almost think the fact that I just posted this a few months ago would clearly indicate it was sarcasm. Sarcasm is hard sometimes though.
