This might be a hot take but Gary is honestly all around more attractive than any of the recent bachelors. He seems like a gem!

This whole episode was the first episode of a bachelor franchise where I’m genuinely rooting for all the contestants. Gerry is such a breath of fresh air.

Golden Bachelor with one episode has made mainline Bachelor completely irrelevant that’s how good it was

Gerry genuinely seems 5000 times more sincere than any guy who has ever been on the show.

I hope this shows the producers that most of us want to see a genuine love story and not cheap drama.

I can’t quite put my finger on why, but this show has really hit the right pacing. The 1 hour mark means it moves quickly but somehow the actual feeling of the show is so much less hectic and feels more relaxed. Well done production!

Gary looks at the women when they talk. He actually listens to get information and build intimacy. The other Bachelor leads listen to get the conversation over with. He’s the perfect bachelor.

Y’all- my nana is in a retirement home and freaking ABC hosted an event at her place with food, props, and a season premiere watch for all the guests. How cool is that 😂❤ also- why is this like way more entertaining than regular bachelor??

Gerry is a stand up guy, classy, well spoken, respectful and looking for true love. He also looks good and in shape.

This is so awesome! I'm so tired watching all these super young, immature dogfights and catfights on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette over the past few years. FINALLY, something mature to watch! This will be a REAL romance, not just drama for the sake of drama!

I’m pretty young, but the regular bachelor seasons make me feel old bc there are so many 23 year olds. This makes me feel like I can be fierce and weird for decades to come!

I had to chuckle, really chuckle over the ladles complimenting each other - their earrings, dresses, etc. We are so used to the cattiness of the younger women, and then we get the maturity of the older ladies.♡

WHAT TOOK SO LONG TO DO A SHOW LIKE THIS? It's nice to finally see LOVE from a different generation ❤ Everyone deserves to have that special someone in their lives!! I hope the producers are listening.

Having grown weary of the franchise, I tuned into this premiere. Gerry is the nicest, wittiest & most authentic Bachelor that I can remember. Life experience has elevated the conversations, half of the women are worthy of consideration, and you’ll never question motive. A very different & delightful TV series!

I think "Golden" will be a HIT!!! It will not only bring in the regular Bachelor Nation fans, but the older crowd as well.💞

Okay, but where do we form the support group for the trauma we're going to experience during late-season eliminations? Because eliminations will be sad all season, but watching these women get their hearts broken from hometowns through the finale is going to land me in therapy.

There's been sob stories from previous Bachelor/rette seasons and I've never been phased by any of the sad tales. However, the opening of Golden Bachelor hit me differently and actually made me tear up! Love Golden Bachelor and I think this version is going to breathe new life into what has become a stale and predictable franchise. I'm so looking forward to the season to see how Gerry's journey unfolds! ❤❤❤💯

I think this is the first time I actually cried during an episode of the entire Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise. I hope this isn't the only season of this. I lost my husband in August of 2022 after 38 years. I'm nowhere near ready to explore the possibility of finding my next soul mate, but this gives me hope and who knows, maybe I'll sign up to meet a future golden bachelor.

And when the world needed them most… they returned 🎉

This was the BEST episode EVER of ANY season of ANY Bachelor-related show, EVER!! Why can't they produce all the shows in this franchise as beautifully as this one was produced!?

I cannot believe it took so long for ABC to get this Golden Bachelor! I loved it! Maybe they will start with middle age , too ….. eventually ( 50’s) 😊

I swear, if production pulls their normal antics with these beautiful souls who are actually looking for real love, I will not forgive them! The drama portion of the preview made me worry about what production has done. These are not your normal twenty-something influencers-to-be.

We've waited for over a year (2 yrs?) for this and it did not disappoint. I'm glad the running time was kept down to 1 hour. Less time for production to pad the episode with fake / production driven "drama" and just get down to the meat of the show. All the ladies were stunning. If they do a Golden Bachelor in Paradise - Watch out. 👀👀👀👀🤩

I, too, ADORED this! It was everything it should be and I beamed, cried, laughed and marveled at just how lovely and genuine the episode was. Terrific, in every way. This, boys and girls, is how to reel us in: surprise and delight us. Yay!

Gary seems like quite a catch. He's classy, slim, handsome, intelligent, and has a full head of hair. My fear is that he will not be able to stop thinking about his late wife. It is very difficult to compete with a ghost. The ladies have shown that being 60 plus doesn't mean a lady has to be a couch potato who is obese, boring, matronly, bald, by choice. Kudos to these beautiful ladies. This season should be very interesting.

I love how he was genuinely trying to get to know them and laugh with them instead of just skipping straight to making out.

This whole idea and first episode was a breathe of fresh air. I have been over the extreme drama and pettiness from the previous seasons for quit some time now. It will be nice to see a more mature collective try to find love this time around.

I'm excited to see a season where (hopefully) most of the cast is there for love, not fame.

Well my favorite part so far is just the extreme fuck you to the stereotypical view of when women get older. There is this real toxic stigma of women getting older and it doesn’t need to be that way. Just because you’re older, it doesn’t mean life is over or that you’re not active or that you are not beautiful or past your prime. I love that these women are confident and that they own that confidence and who they are. It’s very refreshing and regardless of who Gerry ends up with, these women are really fighting that stigma so hard and I love it. They are confident and have self love for themselves and I love it. More of that please.

Great recaps as always fantake this season is really going to devastated me i actually adore gerry so much i think he might be my favorite bachelor ever. The fact that he was so sincere ,thoughtful, and crying while sending the women home 🥺 But , i was also genuinely shocked he sent patty home the first night! I really thought producers were going to encourage him to keep at least more nights.
