I’ll be a monkeys uncle. That looks mighty good. When I worked at a military daycare, the head cook, would mix the cooked hamburger, green beans, and tomato soup without the water of Cours put it in the pans and then top it with mashed potatoes and cheese. That’s what we called shepherds pie. My son loved it when he was young. This also looks good.
This is one of my favorite dishes. I've made it with ground lamb and ground turkey. I was so nice to see your daughter. Lots of love in your family. Kitty wanted to see what was going on. Just like mine. It was a cute add in.
I drove up to visit my older brother once and asked if he wanted me to cook anything. He said he really liked cottage pie. I'd never made it, so I made some boeff bourginion, and some mashed potatoes and put it together with peas. He said it was so different from his. He just cooked some ground beef, added a brown gravy packet and canned peas and covered it with instant mashed potatoes. Omg.
Love this meal I made it ca couple of times I prefer the beef not the lamb but I live lamb shoulder chops so go figure . I cheat and use Bob Evens bashed potatoes because we love the flavor of them

The lunchroom ladies made this when I was growing up at both my elementary and high school in the South….Just Wonderful We had it at Church dinners just wonderful.. I make it just wonderful. Sheppards pie. Your Apron with the Cats is so Cute.

Have you ever tried piping on the mashed potatoes to make it look fancy? It might be cool to use a star tip because it might crisp the potatoes a little bit on those edges.
I make my Shepards Pie similar to yours but we like corn or peas, the way my mom made it. I didn't know they make gravy mix in a jar. I put a few beef bouillon cubes in my ground beef but I like your idea better. Hubbys favorite meal! And I want one of those can openers. Looks a lot easier to use than the one I have.
I make shepherds pie at least once a month. I never made it your way though. I mix the veggies in with the meat mixture. And i make a little gravy for the meat mixture. I never put potatoes on the bottom of the dish i just pour the meat and veggies mixture on the bottom then the potatoes on top. Its cool to see other people make the same dish you do but different. I make both cottage pies and shepherd's pies. For my shepherd's pie I've used ground lamb, but on occasion I've used lamb chunks, aka stew meat. I've used canned mixed veggies, but I prefer frozen peas and carrots. It was interesting to see you put the veggies around the perimeter of the dish. I tend to just mix the meat and the veggies all together before covering with the potatoes.
That’s a different version of Shepherd’s Pie.. we used to call it potato pie as well. I also add tomato sauce to the meat mixture and make a gravy of it then add frozen veggies and lots of garlic 🇦🇺
Hi Tammy, I'm from Wales in the UK, we have more sheep than people, definitely, shepherd's pie is delicious lamb (the shepherd tends to sheep) and cottage pie is minced beef.. you would say ground beef x😊
Shepherd’s pie is delicious! I like it better with beef than lamb. When Jade came inside the house, it sounded like she said hi, 😹 Amy looks happy to be with her mama. I know you and Chris are happy to closer to your girls.

My mum makes an amazing shepherd's pie, but it's different from yours. I may have to try this Southern version sometime. I don't eat it often as the calories for a wee portion are off the charts. 🤣
I made my version of Shepherd’s pie (with beef) on my channel, and received several comments stating that it’s called cottage pie. I had even stated in the video that the proper name is cottage pie, but we always called it shepherd’s pie. 😂
i call it shepherds pie. I made one yesterday .lol .the only difference between yours and mine is i mix my veg's with my ground beef. must be a GA thing
We add cheese in ours on top of the bottom of ground beef onions then the mashed potatoes then top it with cheese too and bake it til warm and bubbly. But we try not to brown the cheese. And it is absolutely delicious. Some good Ole Tammy's yeast rolls and a salad. You can't beat it. YUMMY!
