The TJ/LJ platform is the best Jeep platform. Selectable lockers, 5.13 R&P. Tummy tucked. 35" tires. Unbeatable.

I will say that the 4.0l engine in older jeeps are far superior in reliability to the 3.6l in modern jeeps. I used to have a 90s jeep Cherokee 4x4 with the 4.0 l and that machine was a beast!

My old CJ was great in the woods. No real trails, maybe deer runs. Fit between trees where I couldn’t fit anything else, like a UTV of its day. Good vid

ive owned both a new JL and a LJ like in the video. the suspension systems are identical even till this day. if this was a rubicon LJ with the same size tires to truly make this comparison even there wouldnt be anything the JT could do that the LJ couldnt. Ultimately I sold the new Jeep and kept the old one

Enjoyed my 05 TJ Sport. Offroad it tended to shake and rattle a lot (more than normal). My current JK rides offroad a bit more quiet and smooth than the TJ. The longer JK wheelbase is helpful. Both are awesome in any case. Inline 6 4.0 was one of the best engines ever built.

I used to have an old Scrambler and loved it. Unfortunately I ran out of money and it rotted away on the floorboards and the body. But that old Jeep would go through or over just about anything that you could get into on the East Coast. But unfortunately the rust control is a never ending task when it comes to those old Jeeps.

@wingman8447 lol I had that old 1986 Cj8 Scrambler for years and even rebuilt it after a fuel line fire burnt it. Just gave me a reason to build up the engine and bore it out. I would definitely love to get one of the new Gladiators but those are almost as much as a house. Lol

You need to have the rear diff trac lock clutches replaced that should be a posi rear or at least try to change the fluid and put the correct friction modifier in it. Every LJ has the trac lock. Love the video I have a 05 LJ currently and 98 xj I’m building out.

Off road capability: just decreasing your PSI would have given you like 30% gain on crawling. Just disconnecting your sway bars would have given you another gain (small cost upgrade) Less weight also gives your small Jeep an advantage. More weight wears down all suspension components sooner. Although everything new has better metallurgy, pretty strong. That said if you want to camp/overland, a truck bed is super nice.

I bought a 2007 jk 2-door last August. Only 130,000 miles, had a set of rubicon wheels with 33’s, front and back bumper, new headlights and taillights, and the original soft top. The ruby wheels are almost what you have on this one. An older Jeep with patina that has some new and shiny wheels on it. 😂 Jeep people are weird. 😂

And either with or without a, Stretcher? Doing the kind of Rescue! I did in thee, SES? Sometimes over the side of a Mountain or Cliff?

I don't think the issue is so much new versus old Jeep. I look at it as what the owner has put into it. Reasonable clearance, good axles front and rear, and at least a locker in the front. LJs were and are awesome. My TJ isn't an LJ. Anything more than a day trip is like backpacking in terms of what I can bring.

I like the cj5 1976-81 with the v8.or the tj rubicon the new jeeps with the fiat v 6 are garbage unless you do a ls or coyote swap.another thing is if you buy the the tj used and put 40k into it it would be still cheaper than a new one

The new jeeps are p.o.s.. Wife has ran a rural rough gravel road mail route for 18 years. Started out with a 2001 xj. Then after having a 2012 and 2016 wrangler...we went back to a 1997 xj. Both xj's averaged 2500 a year for maintenance..with miles around 300k. The new wranglers was 10-15k a year with around 100k miles. The only thing better than the old xj's for her route was a t100, it just wasn't right hand drive.

While this video is entertaining, it is framed improperly. This is not old Jeep vs. new Jeep, this is stock Jeep vs. extremely built Jeep. The age of these Jeeps has zero to do with the outcome. I guess old vs. new will get more views and comments, so the real winner here was click bait.
