This was a beautiful area in Cherokee. Only 35 miles to Gatlinburg Tenn. It is free to visit. But parking was $5.00. But that covers the whole day for other parking along the way.
I visited this place in 1965. Now when I go and pass by I think of all the fun I had there with my parents. I was so young I wasn't real interested but ran around having fun but my parents really enjoyed it and reminisced about when they had a farm.
Every time I have gone here I have imagined the people who used to live in this area getting up every morning & seeing the mountains & scenery. I wondered how it was to live there with just the river sounds & the birds, the air & the forest all around? I know they worked very hard but just the joy of living there must have been heaven sent.
I’m from Charlotte but lived in Sylva for awhile (about 30 minutes south of Cherokee) due to work. It’s beautiful up that way. Now I reside in Ocean Isle Beach, NC at the SC border. It’s another stunning place to live in this state but totally different, as you probably know. I just subscribed to your channel to get acquainted with you folks.
