Wow in serbian we use Konj for horse, Pas for for dog, oci for eyes, usta is mouth (usne is mouth), prst is finger (palac is thumb). However we use druzba for friendshi and noch for night. Number is "broj" from brojati to count. Literally almost all the terms are in modern serbian
What a fabulous lesson, Nastya! Thank you so much. I hope I learn enough to be able to read at least a few important russian classics in the original language.
Hi Nastya, old Russian word (for measurement)сажен= ма́ру maaru[ಮಾರು] in kannada language of South India, this measurement is used even today to measure flower strings ( flowers knitted in a cotton thread, like Jasmine flower string). Thanks for teaching this word, Thank you Once again. Srinivas from (Karnataka) India
Hi Nastya. This is the first lesson of yours I've seen and I must say I like the way you teach. Will be definitely watching you again. How about the word боциан? Is it not аист these days? On another note, it is amazing how many of those 'old Russian words' are common in Polish.
Russian and Polish belongs to Indo-European language family, subdivision Slavic. Because of this fact they (and many other Slavic languages) have many common words.
@@powerzx There are actually massive differences in vocabulary between Polish and Russian. Those two languages evolved separately from each other for centuries and often opposition to each other because of political reasons. For example, during the partitions Poles were much keener on ensuring that new terms entering polish vocabulary would be either calques based on existing polish vocabulary or modified to sound more polish whereas Russians seemed to adopt foreing words as they were without many changes.
Old Russian was much closer to Serbian and south slavic in general. but even modern russian words are similar, or archaic exsept iranian ones (sabaka and loshad(horce)
Desno= the right in Serbian/Croatian . Probably even related to the English word 'dexterous' ...capable of fine or skilled movement, like most people's right hand compared to their left hand.
Lech, Czech and Rus legend is that slavic brothers with tribes came from area of noethern croatia (krapina) and then started new nations. There have been descendants of pan - probably Ban as ban is a title of price and ruler in croatia and that comes from avarian kagnate - yes we are avars (Alanian and Avarian confederation).
В допълнение много от старите ви слова са точно както на официален български език, което говори още повече за дълбоката ни връзка като едни от най-старите славянски езици.
Just for ur info, i speak Russian (im bulgarian) many of those words i didn't now they are from Iran or Tatar.... because all other slavs we are using the pure slavic words for hours, mouth, dog и така нататък.
@@gludiousmaximus7918 that was tito's invention. No, croats are slavs. Serbs where vlachs. Name serbs comes from slavic slaves. Vlachs where first living in area of italy, and then moved to Illyria. Vlachs are probably north african origin, middle east. Modern slavic language, srpsko-hrvatski is mostly slavic but it has lot of influence from Vlachian. Truth is german, english and related languages all have roots in vlachian.
@@gludiousmaximus7918 truth is we don't pronounce words the same way. We do pronounce much more similar to balto-slavs. In serbia it is obvivous that language was imposed by slavic tribes. Slavonia (eastern croatia), Vojvodina (northern serbia) are probably slavic population.North-western croatia is much more celtic-slavic mix.
