Today I build a massive building around my postbox & also do some graffiti. Subscribe if you're new :D Follow me on twitter!: / smallishbeans Hermitcraft Logo by @DnatorGames / dnator x.com/DnatorGames
I know this is very cheeky, but i want to prove my friend wrong that I cant reach 100 subs without any content, so if you could hit that wonderfully sparkling button?
This is a totally great and not brainwashing idea!! Also considering Japan has a HUUUGE thing about mascots, putting Jeremy there with some kawaii face and extra aggressive marketing would look 100% fitting
"Can I request people be delivered to me." Between illegal underground fight clubs and now human trafficking, definitely getting a Yakuza vibe from the Japanese cyberpunk city.
I definitely recommend checking out his Empires Season 1 pov. The kingdom he built was absolutely beautiful and there were a bunch of other hermits who play on Empires.
Postbox Hiragana: ゆうびんぽすと Katakana: ユウビンポスト In Japan, it is generally written as "郵便ポスト", a combination of Kanji and Katakana. Also, you can represent postal mail simply by using the symbol "〒". It's similar to katakana "テ", but it's different.
I don't speak Japanese, but I have taken a few college classes and this answer lines up with my research. Mostly that just makes me feel validated, but I guess I'm sort of another source?
The top ten things I like about hermitcraft alternating between genuine "I'm so glad we're all so close together" and "Everybody has been so nice to me" verses unhinged "Etho is obsessed with me" and "Mania post" is why I love Joel. You get so much range with him.
As it happens, it’s historically accurate that your old-style Japanese area would have a British style postbox. The person who founded the Japanese post office, Maejima Hisoka, went to Great Britain to study how their postal service worked, and used it as a model for the creation of the Japanese one, right down to the mailboxes.
@@friendlyneighbourhoodash we need this to happen… have you seen the video where sausage ships them? I think you would really appreciate it lolol… basically search like, sausage ships boat boys or small Etho of whatever
I'm so glad Joel joined Hermitcraft!! Amazing builds, fun interactions, and his chaos is perfection *chefs kiss* Graffiti ideas: a glow squid or bees to advertise your shops, hearts for the Life Series, a donkey, horse head, chinese letters saying "Joel is great" or something like that
Hear me out: Japanese mythical creatures hanging out around the base. Some kitsunes (could get some foxes, or maybe make some walking fox people with armor stands?) near the gates, or just sitting around the stairs / in the buildings? Once the fight club opens up and you get some player heads, you could have the kitsune heads switch with player heads cause they have the ability to shapeshift into human or other forms. Maybe some yokai around the buildings too, I was thinking of one in particular (the long thing in 'The Heavy Basket' Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, 1839-1892) wrapping themselves around some buildings? Or an oni or two by the mountains holding iron tools to imitate a kanabō? Also think some grey parrots hanging around could imitate Tengu, around any entrances maybe. They're now depicted as protective spirits of mountains / forests, but were once considered as demons and harbingers of war. When I was younger I was obsessed with mythical creatures in general, so seeing your base brought some ideas. My obsession with them has faded though, so my information about them might be a bit out of date or just wrong lol
If you want to add more Japanese flair to the post office, Japanese post offices always have a big 〒 sign outside. Alternatively, the word for post office itself in Japanese is 郵便局 (yuubinkyoku (you-bin-kyoh-koo)). I work in Japan tourism and we have a client going on a night time glow squid (the real ones are actually called firefly squid or “hotaru ika”(ホタルイカ)) boat tour, they’re only visible in certain months but could be a cool thing to do while you’re in Japan if you’re in the area!
There once was a man on RU-vid, Not tall in stature, but his content flew. Though short in height, his charm was true, With every video, his viewers grew.
I never thought I would see the day that another hermit could out-build Scar, but here we are. Joel, you’re absolutely mental!! 👏 (and by outbuild I mean amount per episode put out/super fast build mode. HC viewers know what I mean…)
Urban planner here: Impulse should totally continue the axis of Joels staircase through the gate as a street in the cyber city and make it the main street.
joel i have been gunning for you to join hermitcraft since you mentioned it in old qnas and streams from the xlife days and i am so happy it’s finally happened!! you are such an entertainer and an amazing addition to the community :)) thank you for being my favourite hermit (officially now!)
Haven’t even gotten through the first minute yet… but I just want to say that I’m sooooo happy you’re part of Hermitcraft! I really look forward to your videos. Your base is looking EPIC so far… I just want to know if you’re planning on doing a bigger building as a main centrepiece maybe like a Japanese temple or something? I LOVED your mesa base in empires and your main temple was ‘chefs kiss’ amazing! Keep up the great work Joel!!!! Look forward to seeing more!
The amount of work and building you have accomplished in only 10 episodes is amazing! The chaotic encounters and events are hilarious and it's so fun to watch.
Would be fun to annoy the permit office by making a blackmarket and selling unpermitted items just so Grian does a permit work. Let's say sell items that Grian has a permit of?
Top 5 Best Hermit Builders Of All Time. What an entry, what dedication. No-one had ben more fitting and more overdue a permit to be a Hermit as much as Joel. How is this man not on 5 million subs already? It will come soon!
Learning Japanese currently! So I can't claim perfect accuracy but I've got resources I've checked some things against and am fairly certain in what I've got for you :) As well I have the pronunciations! So for the mailbox sign you could go simple with just katakana ポスト (posuto/posto) which I think tends to refer to things like those more public mailbins like the red british ones, or get fancy and use 郵便受け (yuu-bin-u-ke) which may refer to more private mail, like your own personal mailbox or mailslot in a door. Up to how you see your mailbuilding! 郵便 (yuu-bin) is also a possibility though it seems to refer more to a post *office* than a specific post box. Which one you want depends on the lore of the building! Whether it's a public mail box, your personal mail, or the city's post office! Or which ever one you like the most heh, whatevers most fun to pronounce what I tend to go for when naming things.
Jisho, the dictionary is the best there is if you want free services between English and Japanese. As for your mail building: What is usually on Japanese post offices is: 郵便局 (yuubin-kyoku), so post office. Depends a bit if the building should be the actual 'post office' of your 'city'. If the building is more intended to be just a public mailbox in the city then the sign sould say: '郵 〒 便' and underneath 'POST'. @spottedpelt1256: Good luck with Japanese, it's so worthwhile to learn the language. I'm speaking it for15 years, best decision ever made!
If you want the walkway Infront of the postbox to feel less cramped, replace the lecturns/trapdoor combo with hanging signs as railings. Will give you a quarter of a block more space and still look good!
Joel is my new fav hermit. His editing and building style is so unique. Commentary is hilarious. Great relationships with the other hermits. And a dashingly handsome face, too, I must say.
Joels base is one of my favourite bases atm. Sidenote: Is it just me, or did anyone else get dizzy watching this video? It could just be me ofcourse. The new post building is so great!
the other side could have adverts graffitied on the wall for your glow ink sacks and honey/slime! loved the mural and your hermitcraft episodes so much
I would love to see a reference to an old series of yours as a mural! Introduce new viewers to older content. Like Crazy Craft, X Life, or either of your Empires bases! I especially think a mesa scene would be gorgeous!
There are lots of ways you could do “mailbox/postbox” in Japanese. Translating straight to katakana would give you “ポスト” (literally, “post”) or “メールボックス” (mailbox). There are lots of variations for the kanji version, and I’m not sure which one is grammatically correct on its own. My two best guesses would either be “郵便受け” or “郵便箱” with the former’s third kanji meaning “to receive or get”, and the latter using the kanji “box, case, or package”. Since my syntax isn’t very advanced in Japanese I’m not sure which is more correct.
TEN EPISODES WOOOOOOOO😂😂😂I’m STILL in like The jittles about Joel being in hermitcraft just HOW AWESOME IS THIS We’ve got JOEL AND SKIZZ and I’m still excited 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣 I just randomly yell this to people who have no idea what hermitcraft is 😂
One easy way to get a half-decent translation is going to the wikipedia page for the thing you're translating, changing the language to japanese, and copying the title. it's not guaranteed to be right, but it'll probably be closer than whatever google translate would give you
