Fury’s showboating was more of a sign that he was afraid of following up on supposed openings he saw when Usyk proved he can hit Fury right back. Usyk was the first fighter to ever make Fury second guess himself all throughout the fight because Usyk was not also fast, he was also smart and had enough sting in his punches to scare Fury off when he got comfortable. Fury couldn’t pull off his dirty tricks consistently because Usyk was able to adapt. Another thing was Usyk’s looping hooks. Fury kept getting caught with those. Those angles were just too much for Fury and that engine too. Fury has fought stronger punchers and bigger men but they were never consistently active like Usyk who would keep prodding and probing on different angles with enough power to keep him afraid of getting hit clean.
I think fury comes back next fight and just knows not to mess around and stick with that feint and double jab which opened up more combos for him. Also try to not throw so many to keep himself good for the later rounds
After showing technical superiority, Usyk always let his opponent achieve some success, sometimes giving him the initiative. We see him do that in all of his fights, one way or another. After his opponent had gained confidence and spent energy, Usyk does suddenly raise the tempo and pressure in order to break that new confidence, and draining even more energy. Usyk is cooking his opponents, methodically. He overloads their brain, aerobic, and muscular lactic acid. 😁
Me thinks you give Usyk a little too much credit- not that he's not great- but I highly doubt Usyk allows his opponents to have success as all part of a calculated plan- they just sometimes do- If he is allowing them success against him on purpose then he is being very stupid and one of these days it is going to backfire on him and he is going to lose
@@busterclyde He did it in every fight. Watch them. 3 steps method: Show technical superiority. Show defensive skills. Show high work rate aggression. So far, so good. He might lose before retiring but really, what else does he have to prove now? I know he wants a big fight in Ukraine after the war. Until then he will fight Fury again if he’s willing to claim the rematch.
Fights like this is why I love boxing, u dont have to sell it, reinvent the wheel, promote it, if its a real fight, Two men in the ring that are the best in the world never needs to be promoted. but boxing is so in the trash.
Usyk was in Fury's face all night. Who would've thought the rabbit would chase Fury and have him bouncing off the ropes...i did at least. Usyk got one back for Pacquiao, GGG, Kovalev and Loma against the establishment diva in the biggest fight of their careers. For once the best man won
I will say this Tyson fury was in better shape than I seen .this was a good fight. The fact that uysk got thru is unreal. Fury has the longest arms I've everyseen in a good fighter.guys like uysk Loma ggg...are not the same as these American guys.there just not an always at a disadvantage these guys are
That ref let fury get away with loads of illegal stuff. I think All the success fury had in the later rounds were the effect of many atomic shots to the nuts.
@stevenskliros9608 when usyk went back un fighting at mid range he took away the low blows and that had fury scared again because it took away the only thing giving him a shot to win.
@@futvnyc Fury is a good fighter and presented problems for Usyk other than fouls aa Fight Film explained but Usyk always overcomes these problems. It's something I noticed in him long ago...he's extremely sharp and mentally focused and he's got real dog in him too
Do you believe that the Tyson Fury who beat Klitschko when he was a young fighter would have performed much better or would it be the same fight? Tyson is in Klitschko's shoes now he is the ageing former champion. Also, you are one of the best boxing channels around, i learned alot of stuff from your videos. It's always cool to look at your old videos, haha you have one hell of a villainous laugh XD
@@kungfubrando Yes that's true, but compare their styles. Usyk has great fundamentals, and his hands are always up. Fury's style was heavily complimented by his foot speed, and reflexes. He certainly doesn't have the speed he used to have at 35. Usyk has a much better skillset for fighting beyond his prime, he is like Floyd Mayweather in that way.
@@LightninLewis i disagree, usyk's style us heavily reliant on physical ability. Being the smaller guy who needs to be faster and smarter than the bigger guys always is harder to do.
Excellent points Precise! I want to share this video! Many people do think that given the magnitude of the fight the rules should change. But the rules are the rules. However, we have seen the problems with A-side favoritism concerning refs to giving A-sides longer time to recover when in trouble. There is still the bending of the rules to favor the A-side. Mark Nelson's call on the knockdown was correct and Fury showed good recovery from taking those flush shots, so the fight should not have been stopped in the 9th round. Modernists in boxing fail to understand that if the ref determines that the ropes are the only thing holding a fighter up, that can be called a knockdown. The only critique that I have is that Mark Nelson gave Fury 16 seconds of recovery time from the 8-count to continuing. (David Haye said 20 seconds from ringside.) He spent a little too much time checking to see if Fury was OK. Good fight, but I could only give Fury four rounds. The 12th round I re-watched and on the rewatch gave it to Usyk. But I will go by my original card for reference here. Usyk took for me rounds 1-4 and 8-11. Fury took for me 5-7, and originally the 12th so 116-111 Usyk. Had Usyk not scored that knockdown in the 9th and Fury had somehow won that round, we could have had a draw or a Fury win. That would have been the worst decision since Ward-Kovalev I.
Fury will come back an bring a dirty fight.usyk had him done.he held his punch back in that moment.that next punch was gonna put fury thru the ropes an prolly out the ring
Great post-fight interview 👌 btw Usyk was 223on the scale, there is a recording circling on the twitter shot close to the guy who watched the scale and then told to the crowd and the announcer got it wrong 😅
For me, the ref should've waited for Tyson Fury to fall to the Canvas if he intended to do the 8-count. But if he felt the need to step in the way he did when Tyson fell to the ropes but still on his feet, the only course of action was to stop the fight because the guy was still on his feet but unable to defend himself. However, the ref started counting and in essence, gave Fury time to recover. That was poor officiating at the level of somebody like Lawrence Cole.
Usyk v Povetkin would have been a great fight. Who do you think would have won? For all the people that constantly say Usyk possesses no power. He almost knocked or knocked or made quit every heavyweight opponent that he faced. Made Witherspoon quit on his stool. Shook Chisora a few times. Had he not injured his elbow by Chisora constsntly punching his arms Usyk would have knocked him out. Rocked AJ multiple times in both fights and almost got the KO. Made Dubois quit. And all but basically koed Fury had the ref not stepped in before he could land the last blow. He has power in his shots and they linger for a while by the looks of things. Do you think AJ knocks out Fury?
@@FightFilms interesting opinion. I thought Povetkin might catch Usyk with an uppercut and put him down. Povetkin was Southpaw too? I have noticed especially in the Fury fight, Usyk doesn't really use uppercuts... I think had he thrown an uppercut whilst Fury was hurt he would for sure put him down or out. I suppose AJ is a bit of a plodder with very little lateral movement. He has a good range of shots but I suppose quite one dimensional. I have learnt a lot from you over the years which has really helped me engage more when watching fights.
The Fury win won’t age as well as it should. Fury’s resume isn’t half of what it could’ve been. The guy is 6’8 270 with unbelievable reflexes, foot speed, and handspeed for his size. He had enough power to hurt Usyk multiple times on top of that. Hopefully Usyk is remembered as well as he should be
I am seeing some cope online. Downplaying Usyk's accomplishments. Not saying this era is great but people act like Aj and Fury would be bums in the 90's, Despite the fact they would be physically capable of beating any top heavy in history? Thoughts? To me anything but the the supreme athletes at heavyweight have been kinda underwhelming. I don't care how deep a division is it doesn't make any one fighter magically better or worse. I wasn't even a big Usyk fan until after the AJ fight.
You are the first I hear mentioning the bleeding nose. I thought that it was a great milestone because Fury would tire faster I don't know it it was part of the plan but it went nicely with it
Fury was already defeated in ring walk. The same thing happened during the first AJ fight. Too happy and having too much fun, was a blatant cover for being scared. He knew hecwas going to lose and I think that was pretty apparent during the final prese conference. You did say, don't sleep on Usyks punching power.
Usyk won 7, Fury won 4 in my opinion. I had round 2 even. I rewatched it and scored it 112 - 116. Usyk kept the pace high, made sure he scored and then upped the pace significantly in round 8 after losing 4 rounds in a row. Fury couldn't handle the pace.. lost his focus as he got tired and then WHAM!!! Usyk came through a difficult patch rounds 4 - 7, increased the pace and showed epic stamina and true heart. He was the winner without doubt.. the judge who gave it to Fury needs to retire.
48:30 I thought of it before and Fury really got criticism inside his head. Actually "Bloody John" made big mistake in that headbutt affair. I had my own thoughts on how criticism will affect Tyson Fury back then.
From my once time view, Usyk strategy was going to the body early, occasional headshot here and there to mix things up. Mid round Fury found his range and Usyk adjusted to stay mid range to avoid and then counter to the body and finding his range for big Rear Hook. Eventually Fury slowed down enough in 7 and then 8, for the up top shot start find their mark consistently when Fury slowed down. And once Fury nose is broken, it is pretty game over for him, he got heart I give him that, but not as big as Usyk.
@@FightFilms That was it for me. If John Fury can be coaching in the corner of an undisputed heavyweight Championship fight then nothing is shocking anymore.
Fury got rocked in 8. and proly his right eye was seeing past things like Spike Spiegels .9.round was just consequence .And in the 10.Usyk was just good old Soviet ,get back to the rhytm kind of guy, like Golovkin .No rush, just work brother philosophy. Usyk is Judoka, you see him controll clinch with movment.Fury leans Usyk backs and Fury has to make step to catch up ,and has to chase Usyk.
Another narrative going around is fury won 5 rounds after round 3 If thats the case how did he fall apart in round 9 😂 The downfall started at the end of round 7 usyk put the damage on in round 8 then finished the job in round 9 Also there was another narritive about body shots, usyk was the one doing it right from the start and clearly his body work was effective Usyk was the puncher in there and we saw very clear evidence Everyone said usyk moans at the ref, im glad he did, stopped any nonsense before it started The only issue i had with the ref was round 9 as soon as fury fell into the ropes he should have called the knockdown. Fury should have been given a chance to recover, but apart from that the ref combined with usyk pointing it out, it was pretty clean
Did usyk load up more than usually on his shots this match? Even the jabs made noises, not so much pitter-patter as we could see against both AJ and chisora
After all the delaying and games from Fury, I'm proud of Usyk on how he performed. He stepped up, kept his composure and finished business. He beat the better man. I'm disappointed in Fury, I thought he could have done better. Show boating and not respecting his opponent cost him the fight. It's like he didn't believe he could hang with Usyk in the pocket. So he eventually fell into a losing game plan. Yet, I'm still impress with him. He took Usyk, a world class fighter, one of if not the best currently, 12 rounds. It wasn't pretty, but he got there.
AI punch stats had Usyk winning 10 rounds! Usyk blew this fat lump out of the building and everyone trying to say it was a close fight. Puh-lease. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FcF2NvkhtJ8.html
it pisses me off a little bit that the ref saved fury a little bit from getting knocked out. one thing i liked was uysk did hold the center of the ring. and fury had no room to do the fancy "footwork" but even i noticed points where fury was confused or frustrated and doing the hopping in once spot thing.
