I prefer the output of the IF30 and the price is also a great thing for me.

Yes - the IF30 has been as low as £60!

Hello... Thank you for the clip and the explanations provided. I like Olight but I prefer Sofirn. Olight is much more expensive compared to Sofirn and Sofirn lights much better than Olight and the fact that Sofirn has a universal battery that can be found and used in other brands as well as a power bank plus the fact that it can be charged with any cable USB-C and is not as individualistic as Olight, from my point of view, represents another plus point for Sofirn
@onepunch7632
@onepunch7632 9 месяцев назад
Nice comparo! I'd take the Sofirn over the Olight because of the price, usb-c charging, use of throw and flood at same time, and over spill on the throw beam. Not a fan of the Olight's proprietary magnet charging and having to always take another cable with me.
@dw2dw2

I got the Olight. would like a slightly higher output but also like the fact it stays cool and doesn't really step down when on turbo. finding the RGB more useful than I thought I would do, walking through woodland with it on green was very pleasing to my eyes. biggest drawback by far is the proprietary magnetic charging and I cant even use my external charger, also not sure it has an SOS function (I cant find it) Thought the auto lock would be a pain but I really like it, and easy to unlock even with big gloves on. Can imagine this will become my main light due to it being so versatile.

SOS function? Do you mean strobe? If that's the case, just triple press when in flood mode. Personally I love the magnetic charging. USB-C has a tendency of glitching on me after years of use, and it is also a weak spot for water.

Thanks for input ! Good job on review....I own both also , and the if30 just amazes me ! As I'm sure with most I'd rarely if ever will need all the lumens it produces but nice to have, Sofirn does a great job with there products , yes it's nice to be in position to buy Olights Acebeam Nitcores Fenix etc..but the price of Sofirn matched with good product is a no brainer makes those who are not that exposed to what's out there feel a bit ripped off , but olight sure make em pretty...

Very eye opening comparison. I have the Marauder Mini and now I wish I also had the Sofirn! Even though the IF30 starts out with nearly twice the lumen of the Mini, after two minutes the opposite is true, when the Mini puts out double the lumen of the IF30.
@flashlightsuk1422
@flashlightsuk1422 9 месяцев назад
You tend to find that with some lights. I actually like the Olight - thats because I prefer lights that hold output for longer (even if its lower), I'm not sure I'd pay more than double though!

I just assumed that they were overstating the Lumens like 80% of the lights on Amazon. but this demonstrates its clearly not. I just picked up the IF30 black Friday deal on Amazon for $66. cant beat that.

for 200 pounds you can buy exactly 2 over here in Canada on sale this Xmas(but you have to buy 3 to get that 40% off deal, it was a bit cheaper when first came out, but given the inflation and the red sea situation on shipping routs and everything it's really good for what you get, the RGB feature was what sold me, i bought them for my liquor bar background lighting, without the feature it would be just another boring flash light no matter hand held sun like effect i mean do you really need that bright of difference ? more or less the same after certain lumes for regular use

Thank you for the thorough comparison. Since the IF30 does not come with a holster, and Sofirn says that they don't have one for this model (I asked them), could you please check if it fits in the Marauder's holster? They look quite similar in size.

I'd go for the Sofirn without hesitating as there is nothing that the Marauder offers that make it a must whereas if I only had the Olight I would miss the Sofirns many better features and of course I could buy two Sofirn and still have a good chunk of change. The Sofirn spot mode seems to be the IF22A with the SFT40 basically? BTW I just ordered an SP33 V3 as it's on offer and you seemed to like yours when you reviewed it a while back so you did sway me with that one when other reviewers were trashing the 50.2 emitter for tint shift but also that I could order it in 5000k.
@flashlightsuk1422
@flashlightsuk1422 10 месяцев назад
Yes I really liked that light - and its 40% off atm! My brother in law, whos a farmer wanted in his words - a no 'bullsh*t, easy to use, reliable light with good output. He came round my place and basically had his pick from several hundred lights and he went for the 33 v3 - he could have had a £200 light if he wanted. He's still telling me how good it is! Tint wise, I am leaning toward higher CRI lights and can see how others may trash anything less - the 50.2 being an easy target, but its still an excellent LED. I try and avoid adding to much personal opinion to reviews, but when comparing the IF30 and Mini - in my head, all the time was '£80 v £200, c'mon Olight show me something that justifies the huge price difference' -- I could see where the extra cost went but as you say is it worth it?
@franciscoorantes675

I'm conflicted between the 2. I like that the IF30 is brighter, uses a usb-c, and is much cheaper. But the Mini seems much better with sustained brightness. Reverse charging is neat, but I already have an SP36 and IF22, and I usually will have my Anker 737 anyway to recharge stuff. To me, the RGB is kind of cool, but I'm sad the mini doesn't have a moonlight mode that I know of, and I'm skeptical about the magnetic charging. I also keep hearing that Olights don't like the cold.
@geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz
@geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz 10 месяцев назад
@@franciscoorantes675 Good luck with whatever you go for. It's easy for me to choose when I am not actually buying either atm but in general I am on a tight budget and I don't believe that just because it is more expensive that it is always better so happy too have options like Sofirn. Olight is a lot about gimmick to me and if they made economical non-proprietary versions of their lights I think most people would opt for those but they mess about so I mainly ignore them and get on with the market movers like Sofirn and the IF 30 seems to have more flood and better throw and with useful spill plus it can have both modes at once whereas the wheel on the Olight seems better but that's not really enough I don't think?
@geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz
@geeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz 10 месяцев назад
@@flashlightsuk1422 Thanks. That's a great story about your brother so now I'm more looking forward to seeing this sort of Brutalist design V3 in 5k (the photo from the 5k version on the Sofirn website looks quite good but green in the centre) and be interesting to see how it compares with my SC33 in 5k with the 70.3 emitter. It did amaze me when in your V3 review you showed alongside an SC31 which was much smaller but with a massive button yet on the V3 it was completely the opposite. Large light with tiny button. What is that about? Yes the Olight has a much more expensive better wheel but that Sofirn has a very attractive performance so a bit of a no brainer really. Good idea the fridge thing. Shows initiative! Maybe they should supply them with the lights lol

For the tests at the end you put them into turbo mode - was that in flood mode or spot mode? The Maurauder Mini seemed to be very impressive at holding the power output though!
@flashlightsuk1422
@flashlightsuk1422 10 месяцев назад
At approx 15m 15s in - when I said 'both' I meant the IF30 with max flood and spot at the same time and it was the IF30 with both on max - but jez it got hot fast! and once a light gets hot you've be surprised how long it takes to cool back down - quite quickly in the winter (UK) say 10c with a cold breeze but not this week - no breeze at all and nearly 30c.

@@flashlightsuk1422 Sorry about that mate, I missed you saying that 😊 Can turbo be applied to the individual light types on the Sofirn or does it always apply turbo for both together?
@flashlightsuk1422
@flashlightsuk1422 10 месяцев назад
@@666JGNotts You can apply turbo, or any other level to either the spot or flood. If you're using the spot and flood you can also have any level you want. What you can't do when spot and flood are on is set one higher than (or lower) that the other. With the Wurkkos ts32 and fenix 40 you can set each flood/throw beam to what you want because there is a button for each. If you can handle the larger size the TS32 at 80 dollars is worth a look. I have one here but haven't done a review yet :)

Just for the fact that the IF30 is non proprietary makes it a win, even if it had lower output. After over 25 years as a computer tech, trust me propriety anything is a bad deal. Ask any apple owner.
