Oliva Melanio VS Oliva Serie V - What's the Difference? 

In reality if you are a fan of OLIVA you cannot go wrong with either one!

The Melanio is one of my go to’s when I need to recalibrate my expectations and remind me what a good cigar should taste like. It also pairs superbly with dark roast Sumatra coffee. It’s uncanny how well they compliment each other.

Serie V was the first cigar that really hit home, love everything about it! To this day it’s still my # 1 cigar!

I just had a Melanio for the first time a few days ago, and I must say that it’s a fantastic cigar.

I have both of them in my humidor now , I'd give a slight edge to the melanio but I love them both!

Great video. I've always wondered the same thing. The Melanio is my benchmark. I'll try some new cigars and always come back to how does it compare to the Melanio. Today, I bought the Oliva series V, Liga Especial double toro in my local cigar shop in Croatia. I'm very excited to smoke it!

A Melanio Churchill and a glass of Eagle Rare on the rocks puts me in my happy place.

Melanio Maduro Torpedo is my all time favourite stick, can't be beat IMO.

My first REAL cigar was a Melanio. I have smoked both the V and the V Melanio. Neither one hit me as being particularly strong but both are well balanced, probably the reason for the strength not being room spinning. I smoked the O series and got the strength and flavor kick, making the O my favorite Oliva.

Just ordered a box of (10). I can not wait to try them, thank GOD you guys ship here in Hawaii. Will be ordering more soon🙏🏼

Excellent review I have been unclear about the same question as well. I always thought the Oliva looked like a great cigar, but never had that wow experience until I tried the Oliva SerieV I’ve had the Melanio and up until now haven’t had that wow experience. I would have to say this, Siri V is one of the best cigars that I’ve had..

I literally just got a box of Serie V Maduros delivered 2hrs ago (I just finished my first one) and I definitely agree that the Melanio Maduro is a different cigar. Both are great, it will just depend on my mood what I reach for.

I'm more of a mellow to medium guy so they were both a bit bold for my pallet. That being said I can see why some enthusiasts would love them. Lots of flavor.

V is way too strong for me while Melanio is one of my all time favorite. Bought multiple boxes, never had any issues, such a solid choice.

My lounge just got an order or Oliva Serie V cigars in, I can't wait to try this coveted stick!! The Melanio sounds nice as well, I love me a Sumatra wrapper. Hopefully my lounge owner ordered them in churchill size. I'm to the point where if a cigar doesn't take me a couple hours to smoke I'm sad. I smoke slowly anyway, a toro usually takes me ~1.5 hours. I smoke a 6x60 the other day, and I was in for 2+ hours, it was glorious. I think the Churchill is the perfect size, it has a toro ring gauges and 7' of length. I like the extra length because it gives you more of the best parts of the cigar, the 1st and 2nd 3rd. It rather have a longer cigar that a larger ring gauge, that's for sure. My lounge has a rep from Aladino coming in 2 weeks, he's doing a cigar 101 lecture. I'm pretty excited, the Aladino Corojo Reserva was my first premium cigar. They have beautifully crafted boxes, and classy box art.

Forgot to say but medium to full body and strength is what i like but not super peppery man , something complex and nice after a good feed. Cheers Tim.

I've noticed a really nice toasted marshmallow note when I first light up a Melanio.

Smoked series V first time tonight. Def full bodied. I’m usually more med-full but this was straight full.

The Melanio is likely my favorite cigar. I don't know that I've had more than a couple of Series V cigars. This video has me curious so I see some Series Vs in my near future.

I broke it down by the wrapper description from their website. Same for Maduros for both. I'm also tracking my opinions and descriptions on a spreadsheet i access on my phone. Its hard to track without some work, especially with terrible memory. Maybe its luck because I've had olivas i didnt like (conneticut) but i wish i could have started tracking profiles and flavors from all brands years ago.

I like them both, but the other day, I convinced everyone in Doha, Qatar duty free cigar section to skip Cuban cigars and to buy boxes of Melania cigars.

Unfortunately I'd pass on both... Id take a Liga 9, Herrera Estali Habano or a My Father centurion h2kct for a non cuban. Depends on how dark or light I'd want... Great vid.

I'm tied between the Serie V Bellicoso and the Melanio Maduro Robusto 😅 both very tasty.

Smoked a handful of the regular Serie Vs and loved every one. Decided to spring for the Melanio a while back and hated it. I was shocked! Perhaps it's just not for me.

I like them both, it depends on my mood. Both fantastic, Melanio more refined maybe? Oliva's are simply fantastic, I can smoke any of them really and cannot complain.

Both the V and Melanio are phenomenal imo. Although i have a bunch of V lanceros that are just not doing it for me at all.

I have both the V and Melanio in my humidor, and couple versions of each to boot. Love both and the only one I find truly powerful is the Melanio Maduro, for some reason it hits me harder than any of the series V.

I don’t have a super-refined palate. But I know what I like. I know when a cigar is good. The V is very good. Strong, but balanced and refined. The Melanio is excellent. Not quite as strong. But more complex, creamier, and sophisticated.

Oliva series V is hands down one of the best iv ever had.

Like apples and oranges. Neither is better than the other. Sometimes your palate asks for Melanio other times serie V double robusto

Melanio is a super rich cigar. Wayyy better than the price point suggests. You don't want to smoke anything after. Its that good.

Hey Tim , i have friends going over to the US in a couple of months and they will bring me back 3-4 cigars to australia but has to be under 50 grams so 49 is okay to get them duty free , bloody australian government charges $1870 tax on top of the cigar price if 50 grams or over and i liked the oliva serie v melanio chuchill or double toro , one here costs around $75 due to tax so where are you there as thay will be in the new york area for a month so how much would 3 of them be even a toro size and up cost and would you suggest anything different , say a melanio chuchill and a double toro and something different for the third but at least a toro size. Have you ever noticed those folks coming in for a celebratory stick will pick something more expensive because the expense is a part of the celebration. Which I get but damn Oliva is easily the best stick you will ever smoke to the dollar.

Personally I think their MB3 is way better than either the V or Melanio.

Never had a Melanio I liked as much as the Serie V. But like a guy I knew who sold used cars always said, "there's an ass for every seat!" Burn what you like.

I wanted to love the Melanio but it was so different and definitely chocolately but I can't deny my palate sits more on the original Serie V.

I always preferred the Melanio cause I was told they were hand rolled on the inside thigh of a certain former first lady.

The Serie V and Serie V Maduro are two of the best cigars ever rolled. I love them both. But the Melanio reminded me of molded bread and it made me gag. Ain't tryin the Maduro.
