They’re blowing up, I stumbled across them a few months back, handful of subscribers and here we are. Talent, determination and a big respect for the classics have brought them far. Refreshing to see guys who weren’t even alive at the time have such knowledge and love for this stuff. I share them at every opportunity and everyone should as well.
@@LapsedPacifist79 Same, just found them a few months back. I think their stripped-down, deeply informed sets really show how great the original work is. Love how they respect it
I was about to go to bed when the algorithm showed me this. I've shared to my socials, DM'd it to the homies (who are all mid 40's now) and I'm just chilling in bed remembering how good the hip hop was in the 90's. The golden era!
@@irritablysavvy Yes as a matter of fact you do. We all should shame people with bullshit ass taste until it goes away and we get better and better. Each one teach one.
I love hip hop. I’m not familiar with these guys and for you to say you feel sorry for me sounds pathetic 😂 there’s tons of better rappers out there. If they were as superior as you claim I would have heard of them. You sound like an arrogant fool.
93 til. I was there. Souls had me from jump. Intelligent, witty, clever and clean. Eric B & Rakim, Guru Jazzmatazz soooo much great stuff from this time. This was the golden era. SO glad you guys are showin these youngsters how its properly did. 🤙🏽
All OG rap and hip hop acts need to do a tour w OMA There is something a full live band brings that a recording simply cannot match. Randomly found you guys listening to instrumental compilations Best discovery in the genre so far 🤘🔥
Mosdef this ^!!! I've been a fan of that 3rd Eye Vision since day one. I was aware of yet not a fan of Lil Wayne until I saw him in concert at the White River Amphitheater in WA with a band. OMA + The Roots for the win!
This collab is beautiful … the richness of OMA's sounds layered with Hiero's unique voices and legendary flows is simply amazing. Would love to experience this live.
LET’S GO!!! Taking me back to my high school days(1998), I remember seeing Hieroglyphics adds in THE SOURCE MAGAZINE and thinking their music must sound tight…. Spoiler, their music is tight lol
seriously when casual started rhyming on Make your move, hairs stood up on my arm, doesn't happen often, but I used to listen to Hiero / Sould of Mischief on KSJS in 1990-1991 before they were signed.
Took my GF and her 16 year old daughter to see Digable Planets two weeks ago and they were out of control good, the band too! They loved every second of it, 16 year old's lil goth heart was even vibing
@@afroboyjr8476 being sample based and being live are wholly different things. This is a live band I understand the semantic point you’re making but you’re being willfully ignorant. Modern rap makes beats they don’t construct anything anymore using anything live. Yes they still sample but there was a time where they sampled real playable music. Now it’s ALL digital, almost no artist could walk on a stage with a live band and play their music but…. Wu could Del could The vast majority of artists that made the music what it was could have, because it was still music. Rap has become tone and beat construct meant to appeal to the greatest common denominator, and music that can’t be performed without 5 sound guys, an auto tuned mic, and a bunch of pyro to make the stage look fuller
These are real MC’s right here, such a dope set! First time I heard Casual solo, he tore it up! Pep Love always brings the heat and Del even freestylin!? 🔥
This is the best thing I've watched this year. Finally got to see SOM live last year, been a fan since middle school. Amazing performers. Hope to see the whole crew perform one day. OMA only makes it better, can't imagine a better band for the job
Good god this is an absolute masterpiece. I'm not sure how this will be captured in a museum in 200 years but I would love to see the installation. Seriously something special.
Uh yes please, and thank you! Takes me back to freshmen year of high school early 2000’s and the good old days of finding dope hip hop artists thinking they were new but then discovering their whole discography goes back to the early 90’s!
I don’t normally comment on videos, but man this makes me so happy. Hiero-y’all! I used to listen to them on repeat in middle school and back in my bboy days…and still to this day. Some of the GOATS of old school! Love it.
@@fergin4979 No, I have the vinyl on my wishlist but haven't gotten it yet. My kids keep showing me new hip hop and asking me to show them great stuff from I was their age. Fear Itself was one of the first on the list.
How in TF does this not have more views???? Souls with a LIVE Live & let live, Pep in all his smoothness, & Del LIVE with the wrap up Mistadobalina???? So, so, sick. Guys, the live track behind Del is SICK, love your take on it. Thank you so much for this!!! Colletively, Hiero & Souls are 2 of my all time favorites, and on their own both Del & Pep are 2 of my favorites. You got my like & sub. 💕🫶
Tribe, Hyro, Del and all these guys help me get through alot being a skater kid that never felt like i had a place in this world. Spent Many long nights skating throughout my town listening to these guys, thinking about life and doing some deep introspective self reflection. Thank you for the years of music.
Over 3 decades and still untouchable. Your favorite rapper's, favorite rappers. Most lyrically endowed hip hop crew ever. OMA killed it. Start the DeLorean.
What a great example of raw hip hop. Strip away the unnecessary glamorization the world finds all music is required to have and you will reach its purest core. This is beautiful.
JML in the house. I’ve been with Nessie 16 years. 2 kids. Recently got engaged 2 months ago. She threatens to leave me more now, than she has in the last 16 years. You have a long history. Stay strong. You got this brother.
