mike you did pressure test on drive because just because it had a little oil in there may be caused by grooving on the yoke or pressure built up high gear oil temp .

I would not use gasket sealer on the shims. That big O-ring that you installed is making the seal. Adding sealer to the shims is like adding another shim or two. This could possibly effect the mesh of the gears.

I need the bearings and seals inside the same carrier bearings any idea where I can get them?

U ordered the seals and shims through Volvo penta ? I need the same set for my OMC Cobra 1987 .

I am dealing with the same issues on my stern drive. I was wondering how things turned out? My concern is that I am not planning on replacing my crush sleeve either, and I need to set the rolling torque. I know if I go beyond the tolerance of 14 in lbs I’ll have to replace the crush sleeve. Just checking to see if you got any noise from your bearings after you did this repair. Thanks!

What are the part numbers for the shims? Anybody know? I’m guessing they are made up of a combination of different thicknesses to address the manufacturing variances?
