My go to for Omega 3 supplementation:
www.glutenfreesociety.org/sho...
A recent study published in the British Medical Journal warned against the use of fish oil supplements, suggesting they may increase the risk of atrial fibrillation and stroke. The study was criticized for its methodology, lack of quality assessment of fish oil, and drawing conclusions without proper testing. Contrary studies and meta-analyses have shown the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids in reducing cardiovascular risks and improving cognitive function. Omega-3 levels can be tested through an omega check, with optimal ranges for EPA, DHA, and total omega-3 percentages recommended for cardiovascular health.

This study struck me as very poorly constructed. My late husband taught me how to interpret clinical studies’ results ( he was a research scientist, Endocrinology prof at University of Michigan) and he would have laughed at this and then rolled his eyes at who paid for it and the conclusions they had reached-and how they reached them.Thank you for your thoughtful and cautious examination of this report, Dr Osborne. (I think the meta-analyses revealed far more interesting and valuable data. )

I have lots of l health issues which are mostly hereditary, having just finished my 2nd course of chemo treatmentI was told by my dr not to take over the counter meds. I took his advice within a few month I realised my health was starting to plummet. I decided to re-start my fish oil again I take 2000 ml every day , my health is now much better. My joints are better I will not stop taking fish oil ever again , this data in my opinion is rubbish. I’m not medically trained I go by instinct love your channel.

They say that meat and dairy cause skin cancer. They are doing everything they can to steer people away from good health. I couldn’t believe it when I was googling what causes skin cancer and right there in google was meat and dairy. How would they even know that. Nobody knows what causes anything because they don’t have hundreds and thousands of people caged up, eating only one thing for 50 years+ to see how their body reacted. Funny how they don’t mention anything about the now 72 💉required before the age of 15 and the effects of that toxicity on the human body. It’s all just a guess but I can tell you this when you look at pictures from the 1930s and the 1940s and the 1950s all the way up until the 1980s nobody was obese until AFTER the FDA butted in and started telling people what to eat with their ridiculous pyramid and their seed oils!! Yeah, I’m gonna go grab me some Lucky Charms because it’s much better for me than a nice steak or bacon and eggs!😮

There are so many studies regarding Omega 3 & the benefits from taking it are great! Hello, Dr. Osborne; Thank you, sir, for trying to clarify this. I think the study was designed to be 'anti-fish oil'. I saw the study mentioned "ethyl esters". Ethyl esters are something like marine diesel fuel that has had fish offal soaked in it. It is *NOT* actually real "fish oil! I found out about this by accident. I saw a web page that described how to 'test' fish oil. The test is cut open the capsule & place the "fish oil" on styrofoam. If the styrofoam dissolves then you have "fake fish oil", ethyl ester. A so-called "study" that uses ethyl esters instead of actual, real fish oil is *DELIBERATE!* It is *DELIBERATE DECEIT!* I posted this for your viewers & I will try to email you, too. Have a GREAT day, Neighbor!

Thank you dr Osborne! I m from Romania and in the comunist time, under Ceaușescu dictatorship he forced the population to eat oceanic fish at every meal, every day... He also heavily iodinated the bread, like 150 mcg a slice of bread, and the salt. He forced us to not have junk food or junk drinks, no imports. I think he had a great nutritionist advisory! After the revolution all that is change... A 20 milion people market for farma and sodas , and junk foods.

I’m so glad I saw your video. I recently watched a couple of other videos on this study that scared me about A fib risk. I recently started an Omega 3 supplement, (Triglyceride form, 2gms/day) and was considering discontinuing it. Rather than that, I did cut back to half dose of approximately 1gm/day. I also try to eat fish and sardines but can only do so much of that. Beef is not an option since we don’t really like it. Definitely will do the omega index to see where I am. There is one from Omegaquant founded by Dr. Harris. Thank you again for this great analysis. You have a new subscriber too!

Nature is complex. Human being is also a complex cellular supramolecular system. Interactions between various molecular subsystems are never simple. Omega fatty acids exemplify that situation very well. Omega-6 has positive effects on heart health! Omega-6 fatty acids may help protect the heart from erratic rhythms and reduce the risk of heart disease or stroke. They also lower levels of triglycerides in the blood. Omega 6 possess also anti-inflammatory properties. While omega-6 fatty acids are often associated with inflammation, they also contain compounds that can have anti-inflammatory effects! Some studies suggest, however, that consuming too many omega-6 fats could lead to inflammation, potentially worsening conditions like arthritis. Modern diets often have a high omega-6 to omega-3 ratio, which may not be optimal for health. A more balanced intake is considered beneficial. It's important to consume omega-6 fatty acids in moderation and as part of a balanced diet that also includes omega-3 fatty acids to maintain good health. So, it may be worth to consider black cumin (seed) oil instead of (fake?) fish oil as a source of omega fatty acids or use a mix of those sources

I just watched your video on estrogen dominance. I started estradiol patches when I was premenopausal, first 0.025mg, up to 0.50mg, and I took it off yesterday. I’ve gained weight (I used to be 120lbs and now I’m 159lbs). I had my serum labs tested: estrogen, progesterone (it was low at 0.6), T3 and T4 both WNL. My testosterone is high, I’ve never had PCOS. I asked for a fasting AM cortisol and DHEA. Cortisol normal, DHEA was 200. LabCorp did the labs. I don’t have my uterus but still have my ovaries. I had terrible endometriosis which another doc said could be a sign of estrogen dominance. I’m 50 and I still have thick hair, good skin, etc. I’m scared I have a tumor on my ovary because I do feel a dull ache in my RLQ (I don’t have an appendix either). I take magnesium, Omega 3s, probiotics, collagen, and turmeric. I eat a lot of protein. I go for an ultrasound soon. Can ovarian fibroids cause this? I’m a chemotherapy nurse and used to mix the stuff with proper PPE, but I later found out the hood I mixed it in wasn’t venting adequately ☹️ Edit: I also have swelling in the morning and at night

Black seed oil contains thymoquinone, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory. It is not a replacement for fish oil because, as already stated, it contains very little alpha linoleic acid (omega 3). That doesn't mean it isn't beneficial however. Black seed oil can help with asthma, hayfever allergies, pain management and many other complaints.

Who funds any kind of research and is involved with the study itself? Supplying the money and making the results public are two completely different things. Fish oil or algae derived omega 3? Potential Health Benefits of Plant vs. Marine Omega-3 Fatty Acids - After 8 weeks, neither the groups randomized to the marine-derived omega-3 fatty acids nor the groups randomized to the plant-derived omega-3 fatty acids had detectable decreases in blood concentrations of three inflammatory markers (IL-6, sICAM-1 and MCP-1). Did you know that seaweeds contain 1:1 ratio. that was likely a big food source in the past. Fish oil isn't necessarily the best omega to take. A combination of hemp seed oil and flax seed oil would be better. Let your body convert what it needs to for EPA/DHA, and just supplement a little with fish oil

Are you aware that Omega-3in fishoil is in triglyceride -form, meaning your blood-triglyceride increases by 100-330 units if you consume 1000-3,300mg Omega-3 daily? That's why fishoil manufacturers nowadays put on the front label: EPA/DHA in TG-form. Krill oil has Omega-3 in phospholipid form and doesn't increase blood-triglyceride.

As weak as this study was, it’s still quite possible that omega 3 supplementation may increase the risk of a fib. Endurance training does this, as well. The important point is overall risk vs overall benefit. Even this study acknowledges (or at least its number show) that the net cardiovascular benefits are greater than the minor risk risk of a fib.
