This should clear up any confusion about EV training: 1 EV per Pokemon +4 EVs when Pokemon is holding a respective power item. 1 + 4 = 5 EVs per Pokemon (duh) 5 Pokemon per horde 5 x 5 = 25 EVs per horde 25 EVs x 10 horde battles=250 EVs Remove your power item Battle 2 Pokemon 250 + 2 = 252 EVs (Max EVs) If your Pokemon has Pokerus: Pokerus is a rare disease in Pokemon that doubles the amount of EVs gained. Now, instead of 25 EVs per horde, we get 50 EVs per horde Now: 50 EVs x 5 horde battles = 250 EVs Since we have Pokerus, we can battle 1 Pokemon to get 2 EVs 250 + 2 = 252 EVs (max EVs) I'm posting this to clear up any confusion for beginners just going into competitive battle. +Riki ™ hope it's not too late, with exp-share on every pokemon in the team gets the same ev's, but if you want to train more pokemon at the same time you will need more power-items, so they all will get 25-50 ev's per horde have a nice day mate

Also would be nice to note: *Tropius is the best pokemon for EV training.* It learns: - *Razor Leaf* (hits all 5 pokemon) - *Fly* (to get around) - *Sweet scent*. You can give it Wide Lens to make sure razor leaf never misses (since it has 95 accuracy).

Went back and restarted Alpha Sapphire and am trying to get a team ready for the Battle Maison. And here I am yet again referring to your guide. I find it way better than online articles who suggest much higher level areas where a newly hatched mon won’t be able to stand up for itself. Your guide is much better imo since it has lower level areas which makes sense for EV training a newly hatched egg.

This is incredible. But I just found a new ev training way: You need -A couple of qualot berries -A pokemon with sweet scent -A pokemon with mold breaker and earthquake (rampardos) In x and y, you have to go to Terminus cave, where you almost always find geodudes or durants (95%). You just have to kill everybody with earthquake. Equip the right item before. After maximizing one stats, you have to erase the defense stats using qualot berries. You dont have to worry about right horde, rain, or flying to different routes. You can train 4 different pokemon in 4 different stats, and them simply repeat the process to get the other 4. It is quite faster and easear.

I dont understand, durant and geodude Ev train your pokemons in defense, then you erase your defense EV's with the qualot berries. What EVs do you maximize doing that?

Equiping the right power item you still get effort points in that characteristic, so you battle 7 times (with pokerus) and you can have trained 4 diferent stats at once.

It depends. For training 1 Pokemon, it is much easier the traditional method. If you have to train a whole team, this is completely better

Quick word of advice: if you want to EV train for defense, bring a Pokémon with the No Guard ability with you (like Machamp or Golurk or Mega Pidgeot). Those Sandshrew with their Sand Veils in that perpetual sandstorm will make your EV training take longer.

Wait, so to ev train you just kill off a certain numbers of pokemon to gain ev. Once you hit your amount, then, you can proceed to just level up your pokemon normally?

I don't understand how this works the power items like what if I wanna raise the attack ev and the speed but they both lower the speed. so does that mean that I won't get the 252 ev's in speed or what this is very confusing

So I'm slightly confused. if I am training any Pokemon with the held item and hordes do I need to kill the hordes with that,Pokemon? or can I lead with the Pokemon I'm training then switch to someone with surf and still have the training Pokemon get the needed EVs?

Do all pokemon on route 104 give 50 ev per horde (with correct items an pokerus)? Cause i can recall that there are pokemon on x and y that give 60 ev per horde and i dont wanna mess things up. Just asking :)

So apparently I did my EV training wrong. I thought as long as my first pokemon i was using to kill the hordes had a special item and the exp. share was on and all in party had pokerus then they would all get the 10 EVs from the battle or 50 EVs with the horde battles. but when i looked at the pokemon on the super training nothing was maxed out to where i was aiming for. So the only pokemon who gets all 10 EVs with pokerus and the power item is the one who is holding the item and has pokerus?

hey im a bit of a noob when it comes to this ev stuff and i have a question. i use the super trainer to get my evs up and i was wondering. sorry that this is long lets say i have a snorlax and i max out his hp and sp. df. if i keep the power weight on will i continue to get more hp or after maxing the hp ev i can't get anymore aside from leveling up? for ex: maxed ev snorlax without the weight levels up and i get 7 points in hp when i level up and thats the highest amount of i can get, then i level up with the weight on and now i get 9-10 points in hp. is that how it works or am i COMPLETELY wrong?

Smogon has put out a secret base with a full team of lv 100 Blisseys. You'll level up very fast since Blissey gives the most EXP of any pokemon :) go to smogon's Facebook page and try the QR code :)

The restaurant variant is the Mauville Food Court right? It's a good place to farm money too. I only spent 1000 on my first try and got a Nugget in the end. Haven't beaten the game but it'll likely be neat.

Say that i have a modest Froakie, and want to maximize it's sp.atk to as high as it can get, and according to serebii, it's 170 as a lvl 50 Greninja. Normally when i do super training, I super-train my pokemon at lvl. 1, and they get maximum results. Even though the horde training is exponentially faster than the super training, you level up your pokemon as well before their EV stats are maximized, not getting the full benefit of the maximized EV stats. So would you get the same results with horde training. as you would super training that pokemon at lvl 1? I hope this question makes sense.

yes, doesnt matter where evs come from. 252evs is 252 evs and will give you the maximum spatk.

As a new xy breeder, I would love an example of how to EV train. For example, I have a 5IV Bunnleby that is lv 1. I am waiting to level it until it is EV trained so I do not receive any unwanted EVs. You just ev train once, maximum 252 evs per stat and 510 evs overall. once a pokemon gets the evs, it will keep them even if it levels up. The numbers will automatically adjust.

All pokemon that are supposed to gain exp from exp share will gain the same evs (yes including level100, stats will be recalculated at the end of each battle). If the pokemon in the horde yields 1 ev, 1 horde with 5 of them e.g. 5 oddish give 5spatk. Pokemon in your party with pokerus will get 5x2= 10 evs per horde. Macho Brace does the same, so Macho brace + pokerus = 5x2x2= 20 evs per horde Power Items give 4 evs per pokemon defeated, and can be doubled by pokerus. So Holding Power Lens and defeating 5 oddish while having pokerus gives you 5x2+5x4x2= 50 evs per horde. tl:dr Pokerus: x2 evs gained from battle Macho Brace: x2 evs gained from battle Power Items: 4 evs per pokemon defeated

Now here's my question. You have your Swampert out during the video but say I'm trying to EV train my Larvitar that's freshly hatched, so do I need to beat the hordes with Larvitar or does that old method of having Larv first then switching him out and he still gets EVs still work?

I commented on another video but I was wondering how I can train each stat with EV training method...I did some math and found that if a pokemon can have 510 EVs, then 510 divided by 6 is 85, so with the horde method, you can get 75 and fight two more single battle wild pokemon for the 85 for that stat, but then 85 divided by 4 is around like 20-21 or something, but how can such a low amount of EVs have such a high stat increase? Am I wrong? If I am please help me and tell me how I can train each stat

+James K. the idea is that you can't max ev train every stat you put 252 ev's in 2 stats which would give you an extra 63 points in those stats and you put 4 evs in a third stat giving it 1 extra point the strategy is to deciede what stats will work best for the pokemon you are going to use along with the moves you plan to use for example if you are using moves like surf, physic, flamethrower that are special then you would want points in Special atk instead of Attack but say you were building a special wall like snorlax you might want those points in special defense and hp. hope this helps a little bit.
