Part of is that the culture is counter productive. You can't blame teachers when you put all the power in the hands of students and parents either dont care or are stupid themselves. The only way to correct it is to tell parents they arent usually right and that kids need discipline in order to learn.

Regarding your question "is this a tiny slice.....". I initially thought definitely BUT there's a fair few of these videos knocking about now, to find such a percentage of wrong answers in other countries would be pretty tough I'd say. Not only that, their answers are so massively wrong on so many levels it's conformation that they don't have a basic grasp of anything. How these people have gotten to the age they are without dying I don't know.
WTF is going on 😲 I'm English with three Gen Z girls. After watching this I quickly quizzed them thinking "s**t do I really know how they're doing". Fortunately they nailed the questions, even though they're generally based on the US. Got me sweating for a moment 🥵
The top 10 educated countries have free post secondary or cheaper post secondary than the US. The US US 38th in math on the PISA Ranking, 19th in Science, and 13th in Reading. This is a systematic issue, the top Democratic Countries, the Scandinavian countries, were falling behind, until they radically changed there whole system to address their short coming. After only 5 years they were producing top rankings and now they consistently dominant those rankings. In the US the education system has been politicize and become a battle ground. My sister and moved to the US 35 years ago her kid were born there and educated up to grade 12. When 2 of them decided to go to University in Canada they learned that their grade 12 was about the same as Canada's grade 10. They along with other Americans had to take additional classes to catch up to Canadian Standard. Side note they both graduated high school with honours. They caught up and graduated University with honours as well so the US system is not unfixable it just needs a little work and US can return to the innovative country it once was. The US can not compete with countries that have free education. People see the costs when planning there futures and abandon these track because of the costs. If only the rich 10% of the population can afford to goto school the US will get farther behind place Like Canada where over 60% hold bachelor degrees and 30% hold post graduate degrees. When the education system is out of reach why both to try at all.
Hope he’s paying these folks to act this slow. But on the other hand we can’t be surprised. Our school systems are trash. You go into classrooms these days and the teachers aren’t even teaching
In India school starts as early as 2or 3 years old albeit its playschool but at least they learn to count to ten and the Alphabet as in A, for apple B for ball etc.by the time we are in std .3 mental maths multiplication tables. till 12 are mandatory .....sentence formation is taught.....
Too many variables and dynamics at play to readily pinpoint a prime source of causation. But one thing seems clear: we shouldn't count on the inexorable rise of technology to bail us out. It hasn't so far, and there's little reason, whatever other benefits may accrue, that it will anytime soon 😒

See, i can answer most of these questions right and confidently and i'm Gen Z (2003, here. I am from West Virginia. And I am not even finished with College and i don't live in a (Very Large) City. That should tell you somethin.) I am going to admit, the generalization of Gen Z has me a little embarrassed. But, not all of us are stupid and incompetant.. Like me and some others i know as well are incredibly smart. AND I AM AMERICAN!! IMO, there is no excuse for being ignorant, you have all the technology to learn new things

Soscialim has nothing to do with it. The highest ranking countries in education are social democratic. The problem is the opposite. Your schools dont seem to be substantially funded.. if im wrong,, ask for your money back 😂
