These big crashes generally don’t happen that often. Last year we only had 1 big crash. This year 3 big crashes and 2 small crashes but high G-forces. And for the multi car crashes especially 3 or more are very rare. Don’t remember one last year but we had one this year in silverstone

Kubica crash 2007 was at likely 190mph and apart from some injuries to his legs (his feet stuck out of the front of the car in the end) and the fact that he lost consciousness, he was pretty much fine. Different story with Massa in Hungary 2009. He was just very lucky to not have been ooofed. Edit: I guess they didn't put the fatal and near fatal crashes on purpose in the video

For the flipping crashes: they have roll cages, which have to endure very serious testing before the car gets a pass for the races. There are minor crashes every other race, like a wallbang, or something on the start. I think a racer is in a major crash once, maybe twice a year. They have to be careful with the car, they are crazy expensive. After 2017 (if I remember correctly), there is a titanium ring above the drivers head, which further enchants safety. The last fatal crash was in 2014, and before that in 1994.

As a polish F1 fan I have to say something about Kubica's crash in 2007. The thing is, in today's F1 it wouldn't happen because of Scott Speed's car staying would be VSC. Also, he had almost no injury but at the moment we in Poland thought that he could be dead. It was awful. In fact, he paused just next race (US GP) because of twisted ankle, and normally raced later that season. And his one and only win in F1 (also, one and only polsih win) was exactly one year later at same circuit. Amazing .
@gielkoopmans9915
@gielkoopmans9915 Год назад
Hi guys. Flipping in a F1 car isnt as bad as at appears since the air intake above the drivers head is shaped around a roll bar. And going directly into a wall is way worse then sliding upside down into a gravel pit. If the car has parts flying off and or slows down completely or before it hits the wall it loses energy creating far less g-force on impact. As to how great the chance of being involved in crashes depends on the starting position, starting in the midfield creates more chance of a crash during the start especially. Mostly the midfield cars are the most competitive to each other compared to the top teams or back runners. So they race closer.

Definitely get into Formula 1 like for real, watch it every weekend it's on for yourselves. Intensity and drama, no other sport is dramatic and intense like Formula 1. I promise. I can't wait till this summer break ends, I miss it so much. It's Ferrari vs Red Bull this season. It would be closer if Ferrari didn't have technical issues and some crazy strategies. Verstappen has a healthy lead at this moment in the championship. Lewis doesn't have as good as car this season. But great thing about formula 1, things can change quickly. The safety cells the drivers are sitting in are incredibly strong. Other parts of the car like the nose cone are designed to crumple and absorb a lot of the kinetic energy. The wheels have steel cables attached so that it can't easily fly off into the crowd like they used to. The biggest problem is the ridiculous G forces the body goes through when decelerating from 150mph + down to zero in a few seconds or less. 9 times out of 10 the driver walks away intact. ✌️♥️🇬🇧

That costed a lot of money for those minutes. I just read an article where they had estimated the cost of a F1 car. They calculated the cost for each part and put it together. They ended up around 20 million USD. And that didn’t include the development of the cars if I understood it correctlu. The teams often doesn’t say much about the cost for each car. Financial times looked at the cost to repair the cars though and for Schumacher you did aee in the clip they repaired the cars for 6 million USD in one of his years as a driver.

So, it's extremely rare, like, you can count the amount of times it happened on one hand-rare, but sometimes drivers do crash on each other on purpose. Whenever it happens, they're punished very harshly, though. Michael Schumacher, for example, crashed into Jacques Villeneuve, his championship rival, in the last race of the 1997 season in an affort to make him retire from the race, giving the championship to Michael, and he was promptly disqualified, not from the race, but from the entire season.

The majority of crashes happen in lap 1 turn 1. The cars are all grouped together initially thus driving slower so its easier to pass for multiple positions if you have an open line. The cars are also prone to flipping if the wheel on one car touches the wheel of another car. They are gripping and moving towards each other while spinning so quickly that it just flings the car thats behind (typically) into the air.

@jamielonsdale3018
@jamielonsdale3018 Год назад
By the way, if you draw a straight line from the top of the front of the intake manifold to the top of the front of the safety cell, you will see that at no point does the driver's head even come within 6 inches from interrupting that line. Even if a driver was yanked six inches out of the car (which is physically impossible due to the design, the only way that could happen is if you literally ripped the driver in half from the waist up) their head would still not touch the ground while inverted... Now if there was already debris on the track in the path of the driver's head then you could have seen head injuries that way in the past, but since the start of the 2018 season that chance is much lower due to the HALO system.
