OMG! Snap On! My new BFF! The LN47ACF Needle Nose(?) Pliers: Monsters of gross precision massiveness

The Snap On LN47ACF have been on my List for longer than they have existed. A triple-joint needle nose is not good enough. Now we have an absolute beast of a tool that captures the goodness of the standard (large) slipjoint Snap On pliers with an added needle nose option blasting out the business end. Yes, I'm Impressed!

Yeah i own them too and not to be a downer, but the middle setting is kind of useless IMO. Like the other poster said it causes this weird offset that i just dont really see a use for. These aren't needed whatsoever, the only reason there made is to get people who love tools to buy more tools. The only place this tool realistically fits is for a home owner that likes a tool that does multiple things but those people shop at ikea for tools not snap on. I get it though, if your into tools then why not. I do the same with knives, and maybe I should get into snap on tools because they are way cheaper than the knives I buy.

Hi Doc, Your videos are great, but they have cost me a lot of money. I didn't have any SnapOn pliers, but have a ton of Knipex, Klien, Channellock and others. I felt SnapOn was over piced, and it is. But I wanted to add a few to the collection, so ordered the 8" Talon Grip Flankjaw slip joint pliers, 8" Talon Grip combination slip joint pliers and the 9" Talon Grip long nose pliers (LN47ACFG). I do have some SnapOn rachets, sockets, wrenches and screwdrivers and I know they make great tools. But to fill a large toolbox full of them would be hideously expensive, especially if you also have a SnapOn toolbox. I will just keep my SnapOn purchases to a smattering of their hand tools. But love the videos and keep them coming.

Long Nose pliers. That is the LN in LN47ACF. The regular slip joints are 47ACF and LN is the long nose version of it. CF is cold forged after the manufacturing process. These are my assumptions. How do the cutters on the 137ACF slip joints perform on that stranded wire you cut with the LN47ACF ?
@jel4582
@jel4582 Год назад
I have a pair of the 137ACF slip joint pliers and find that the cutters on them are superior to the standard shear cutters on the majority of snap on pliers. I do wish those cutters were on this pair of pliers. The 137ACF cutters have the ability to cut stranded wire with ease and you can even strip wire with them (if you have the right technique). I have these new LN47ACF pliers and love the size of the duck bill nose on them, but wish the cutters were a different design. Additionally, I have found that all of snap on's pliers use a softer steel which impacts the teeth of the pliers. I performed a test with several different pair of snap on pliers and a pair of knipex 02 01 200 pliers and found that the snap on plier teeth were generally chewed up the afterwards (rounded over or compressed). But, the knipex pliers showed little to no damage at all after hard use during the same test. The knipex cutters are far superior as well and I wouldn't worry about cutting most hardened materials with them. I have damaged a couple pairs of snap on pliers (the models not using the 137ACF cutters) cutting something that was a little too hard for the softer metal. Both great products. Knipex would win no contest if they would make a version of their needle nose pliers that were this size.
@AK-IT
@AK-IT Год назад
@@jel4582 Thank you for the detailed comment. If I were to get a Snap on Slip-joint plier id get the 137ACF based on your positive feedback on the cutters. My goal of a slip-joint is to get the hefty size and cutter of a linesman with the adjustability of the slip-joint, 137ACF seems to be the closest yet. Iʻd also like a Long Nose Slip-joint with a better cutter and smaller sizes like 6 in.

@tallswede80
@tallswede80 Год назад
Incorrect. Knipex superior. Screw extraction and superior purchase due to teeth. Torque and grip on twingrips is superior
@iap6647
@iap6647 Год назад
@@tallswede80I don’t think you can compare the two. I could see these being used in automotive. Maybe for squeezing hose clamps, pulling smaller hose, getting proper leverage removing connectors, etc. I have the twin grips, and I rarely use them over my Cobras. I could see replacing my current needle nose pliers with these.

@lastbesttool
@lastbesttool 2 года назад
I noticed the offset too, but it is pretty much a non issue since 1) it’s a function of the slip joint physics and there is nothing easily that can be done about it, and 2) the jaws in the middle position don’t even touch at the tips so the offset is really not able to affect much. My thoughts anyway.
