You can also achieve this ending by going straight to your house instead of going back to bed at Basil's. It just skips the part with them outside Basil's room.
If you try to re-enter Basil's room after seeing his lifeless body, the door will disappear and Omori will shake his head saying "There is nothing here".
I know everyone's thinking about how Aubrey would feel (and understandably so), but my god, that's got to feel AWFUL for Polly. She's Basil's caretaker, she knows and has known that he's been hiding something and that he's in pain every day because of it, but she isn't able to do anything to help him, eventually leading to his suicide. This is horrible for everyone for a multitude of different reasons (Kel genuinely doesn't understand why this is happening to him and the group, why it's a reoccuring event [he doesn't know the truth about Mari's death], and Hero is just coming back from college to see one of his best friends dead), but I can't even imagine the torture Polly goes through here. "Why am I so useless?" God, I haven't felt this awful for a fictional character in a long time, much less a very minor one.
Aw shit bruv the devs really thought of everything a player would do in this situation Edit: Just realized that Aubrey probably thinks her bullying drove him to this, that's rough.
Just saying, aubrey definitely has a hand in Basil's deteriorating mental health, while we all know that the thing that pushed him to the edge was his grandma dying (probably because he felt that everyone that he cared about was getting away from him) aubrey's bullying is definitely not a slap in the wrist kinda thing, aubrey was the one who introduced basil to the friend group, so for all we know, aubrey is Basil's first ever friend. Coupled with the fact that basil has probably been suicidal since before mari died (no emotionally stable 12 year old [oxymorons aside] would come up with hiding maris death with a faked suicide) , the fact that everyone he cared about drifted apart with the person he was closest to basically disappearing for 3 - 4 years, it's not really hard to connect aubrey's bullying with Basil's suicide. Could you imagine that one day, all of a sudden, one of the first friends you ever made turned against you and made you feel unwanted?
@@hepiskat not to be mean but you probably shouldn't overshare like that to some dumbass on youtube(me). I know that the internet gives the idea that people are willing to listen to what you say but for your own safety there are some things you shouldn't tell randos on yt
It’s beyond depressing because Hero’s text changes at 0:46 to the same text that appears when Basil is referring to the “Somethings” or in extreme distress/when omori is trying to get sunny to kill himself. This signifies that probably all of them, but notably Hero is going to be the next Sunny/Basil, plagued and followed by this guilt and sorrow- AKA, the “Something”. What’s even scarier is that the text goes back to normal when you talk to him again, which is in character to how he always tries to shove negative emotions down in front of others, so you only get a glimpse into this slight mental breakdown for a second.
*spoiler warning kind of* I just noticed that Sunny's mother always ends up her messages with i love you, In this scene I thought It was weird because she is just outside but she probably does it because she thinks of Mari's "suicide" and doesn't want it to happen to Sunny
@@wuskevo I might of thought too if one of the other endings were sunny kills himself credits didn't have the phone ringing. Probably his mom wondering why he hasn't come to the car yet.
@@Chill3OO1 yea thats what i thought before, but its a posibility too. Overall its unlikely that Sunny caused a car accident tho, prolly for Basil cuz maybe he stabbed not a long ago thought the friends
I did not mean to get this ending. I was simply too afraid to wander around the rooms at night and went back to sleep... I was not expecting it to go down this way. It fucked me up real good. Got it at 3 am as well so that didn't help.
I really might start taking up psychology cause even if it wasn't the best choice. People are still people after all. I have general knowledge of psychology so I knew that Basil was probably in a terrible mental state and knew he might do something if left alone for to long.
@@mrboerger1620 Basil killed himself because of the pain from the guilt. Sunny will keep living, suffering from his guilt, everyday, with no atonement. Both of them dying would be a bad ending for the viewer yeah, maybe I should've specified that I meant it would've been the worst ending for Sunny (from his perspective)
@@Namonstar for Sunny yeah, but then- then you think about how Aubrey, Kel and Hero react to Sunny then killing himself as well- I don't even know how Omocat could write that shit given how fucked it is
Well, I think the bad ending will be the worst for Basil. He's permanently abandoned and he has no one else that lives the trauma as his, and since there was that confronting scene where Basil practically hurt Sunny, he'll think that he's the reason for Sunny to leave. Then that'll leave to Basil's death, then that'll lead to even more depression. Both their suicides will most likely affect them both to such an extent yet the same level of extent, so I really wouldn't call this worse than the bad ending.
The difference between good ending Sunny and bad ending Sunny is astounding. This Sunny just pushes his issues away one last time, “just another secret to be hidden away” he thinks to himself. Good ending Sunny is ready for any consequences his friends will throw at him, along with Basil, and admits to it. It’s like they’re two completely different people with no resemblance whatsoever.
This is the "Abandon End". Pretty self-explanatory and sad. You just leave everyone with a now-dead Basil, who took his life because Sunny didn't confront/comfort him on Mari's death. Something about the credits and sirens just has that eerie feeling - leaves you with nothing but a pitt in your stomach.
@That1ChristianGuy (Spoilers) You can get a variant of this other ending if you either: 1) Play the hikikomori route to completion, ignoring Kel knocking at the door 2) Follow the sunny route normally, but choose NOT to save basil during the sleepover at his house on One Day Left, instead going back to sleep Choosing not to save Basil leads to him suffering from an overwhelming amount of guilt during your sleep, eventually prompting Basil (or his Something) to off him. As for Sunny, having not faced his fears, Something will follow him around, bugging him for what we can only assume to be the rest of his life. The endings you've seen---the good and bad ones---are available should you choose to save basil on the Sunny route. I doubt this is the "normal ending"; from my experience, most first-time players do choose to save basil during this part of the game (my friends and I each got the good ending first). It is, however, also referred to as the "neutral ending"
4:30 there are shoes hanging from a power line, these either mean that it is signal of drugs and gang territory, graduation or commemorating the death of a young person in a community.
What Basil did in similarity was a “inseki-jisatsu”, a Japanese term meaning “responsibility-driven suicide”. As the name implies, people who are faced with stressful situations (Basil being guilty for Mari’s death) and had developed depression will decide to commit suicide out of guilt. It’s usually commonplace in Japan for people of high importance to be mentioned in media in this situation, but it can also occur in families and friend groups as well. If one commits an act that is shocking to everyone, those related to them take the responsibility, and may repeat the cycle again to show remorse or take responsibility of what happened. "Inseki-Jisatsu" will usually occur shortly after an event (Mari's Death), but in this situation it can be 4 years.
@@qmulus_yt some suicides can be done because of built-up guilt from completely different situations and blaming yourself when you don’t have to take responsibility for something someone else (or something else) might have done wrong
Who knows, knowing that he already went through a very serious depression after Mari’s death, one that he’s not really dealt with and then being hit by some else who’s close to him also dying like that... That’s definitely gonna be really fucked up for Hero
wait a minute.. at 2:12 how's that storage room door appearing? The door dint appear on my play through. It only appear on true ending when i retrieve the violin. did you tried to go there?
You can only get all the pieces in the hikikomori/NEET route since Y and Z are in the two zones exclusive to that route. I believe they are required to fight ABBI in that route. Wrong pieces don't seem to matter, you only need the right ones to complete the main route.
I've heard you get a jumpscare showing Mari's body if you get enough wrong pieces for the hangman to complete. It fake crashes, but if you start the game back up it continues where you left off.
@@ultimateweirdo2030 Its basically way more game actually... inside the dream world as Omori. AKA Sunny fully accepting the dream reality. The ending is just like the other neutral endings.
Good Ending, Bad Ending, and Other Ending. Other Ending has the knife variant but no achievement is tied to it. I haven't gotten around to doing the hikikomori route yet but I believe it only has the Other Ending and a knife ending where you stab yourself in the kitchen (going based off comments I've read) So in total 3 fully unique endings with 2 more knife endings that are similar to the Other Ending.
@@Astolotl Apparently the Hikikomori Route is massively different from the main story route with tons of new places to explore and secrets to find, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another ending or two for it.
I really had kind of a feeling that Hero is the one who was most messed up about Mari's incident next to Sunny and Basil. Since he was the one to get the broken font
I knew ending like this would come eventually but I imaging where Sunny awake by Aubrey scream and we see a animation of she crying over Basil blaming herself etc. and everyone also crying before blaming each other etc etc. which i think it would feel more (worst) cooler EDIT: SOMEONE SHOULD SUGGEST TO THE DEV!
As if it's not already worse it can get for all of them. I mean think about it, who would want to see the dead body of someone you knew for a long time (again) laying on the floor that reeks of blood. And the idea you have is overdone many times in movies and other media no offence.
I doubt the devs are going to want to add another ending that's completely the same as one they already have, save for different character interactions.
Just play through the game normally, open the door when your friends knock, and eventually you will get to a part where you and your friends stay over at Basil's house. When you wake up simply don't go to Basil's room like the game wants you to and instead go back to bed.
@@Astolotl I already finish the game but when I try to do this ending it always and up with sunny killing himself, I don't know why, I didn't pick the knife before sleep, anyone some help ?
Isnt there another? The first ending I got was once I woke up I went straight to omoris hosue. Right after, i went to bed. Then I realized theres no door in the white space so I stabbed myself, but ended up stabbing myself in the real world aswell
@@akoalitone4190 That is the knife ending. You get it by picking up the knife in the kitchen before going to bed. You can go to SUNNY's house either right when you wake up at BASIL's house or after waking up a second time over there. Either way, picking up the knife gives you the knife ending. There is a vid on my channel of the knife ending.
If you take the knife in the kitchen before going to sleep after going to sunny's house, he will be dead the morning in his bed as he killed himself in White space, and his mom's Phone will ring until the credits end.
I have a question. I did the omori route and got the other ending, but there also were those sirens when I moved away. Can anyone explain why those sirens are there?
@@slendyfia_9497 No hard feelings and my rebuttal is nothing personal, hopefully you don't feel mocked or anything, hope this helps. Your car crash theory simply doesn't make sense realistically and thematically. If it's really a car crash, there's no crashing sound. The sirens are more likely to be police investigating Basil. And a car crash at the end doesn't make sense because it adds nothing to the story. Story is already focused not on the protag already, and his fate at that point is irrelevant, story-wise at least. A car crash makes you feel nothing emotionally either, the punch is already done with Basil. A car crash would be simply a cheap if not useless and tasteless trick that is akin to bad meaningless horror film, and this game is anything but that.
