"Repsonding to a letter from someone about how guilt has ruined their lives, Ajahn Brahm offers a talk on how to let go of guilt and move on. We've all done something wrong in our lives. But feeling guilty about it doesn't make things better, and in fact it can make things worse. So guilt doesn't make any sense and Ajahn Brahm gives us advice on how to move past guilt.

I have carried well deserved guilt since young adulthood. Ajahn Brahms words are the first time I have believed that there is a way out.

How sweet this is, again. So much cheerful serenity. And honesty. 💜 The main point that got me is: We rob ourselves of the peace of mind. And, as well: The unconscious mind, often labeled as Ego, immediately looks for the sculprit, externally or internally. And very often, guilt tends to repeat itself, if not released - that might be the true cause for serial murders - the first time it is such al release of the tension.. but with time, that bad consciousness, the guilt is rising its ugly head, the tension, the self attack are increasing.. unti this little voice says.. do it again... the last time it felt so good.. and then he or she falls again. And that creates the real vicious cycle of guilt. But with "correction", what you say here - simply release the tension by DOING something in the direction of the original mistake... it becomes with the time simply what it is - and you say it so - a mistake. Mistakes can be corrected. Guilt is, building a mistake a shrine and decorate it with Irreversibilty. Wow. Did not intend to write so much. Just wanted to say thank you. 🙏 And feel the invitation now to work on peace for my soul and my mind, wherever there is left that nagging voice of guilt.

I do wish ajahn brahm would visit London and England. it's really not as bad as he seems to remember it. I hear londoners still have pie and eel restaurants and people travel far to visit them.

I believe there is a measure of guilt if one can prevent a death by agree to take on something that can prevent that from happening to another being. Does it matter what has to be done to prevent this from happening. 🤔☘️

If they don't want people to speed why don't they justset up the cameras to look for people who are going the right speed and set up a reward system for them? Think about it, wouldn't it be cool if you looked in the mail and you got something nice for doing the right thing. Soon it would start working in reverse and people might try to work for the nice attintion instead of trying to "get away" with stuff.

Monetizing virtue. Let me think. Constant surveillance while traveling. Let me think. I assume you meant this as a metaphor.

Random reinforcement takes care of the problem of “monetizing virtue”. Relax. There is room for ideas.

What if you come clean to someone and you later think you got facts or details wrong in your confession. Do you keep coming clean?

What if I feel shame and guilt when I take time for myself / to meditate / to be alone ? While I could be helping others.

+BuddhistSocietyWA It would be cool if you didn't edit out the meditation. This video included it when first uploaded and I think it was helpful to be able to sit down listening Ajahn Brahm's instructions. The only chance for me as I'm unable to watch the live stream. Anyway, thank you Very Much for making the talks available to whole world (btw it's awesome to watch it in HD now). Ajahn Brahm, whole BuddhistSocietyWA, You Rock! :D Thx

The most powerful heart of God is His unconditional love, And His true love is the one that puts no conditions to be the love of your highest God, so try to be kind to all creatures and to every living, feeling and thinking being is the true religion, and don't ask why God loves everyone without exception, including your persecutors and enemies,What is the difference between true love and true religion??answer me,I believe that my God loves me unconditionally and even when I find myself in the worst moment of suffering and in the midst of hell itself, no force, no one and nothing can ever take away my faith.
