Dr. Ornstein reflects on the January 19, 2021 memorial to Covid victims (at the opening), her day of liberation (at 11:06), why “you have to remember” (at 20:50), lessons from her memoir, “My Mother’s Eyes” (at 19:11), why “water signifies life” and thirst in Auschwitz (at 27:32), and more. We close with a tribute to survivors, and we remember the six million and all who were lost in the Shoah. May their memory be a blessing.

Anna, I am not sure you remember me, but I remember you always. Having grown up with many Survivors-in my neighborhood in Queens, New York--and in my extended Jewish family- your eloquence, open heart, and honesty vivify your experience of the Shoah, from which all of humanity must learn.. Thank you for telling your nrearly unbearable story, also infused with great love and hope. I am so glad I got to know you--even a little bit. Thank you for agreeing to being interviewed for my book about the Shoah's impact on psychoanalysis. Thank you for being so honest, and encouraging me to do the same. And for your capacity to connect-your empathy. Bis 120 Anna. Emily Kuriloff
