John Stuart Mill’s ‘On Liberty’ is regarded as one of the most important works of political philosophy ever written. Not only does it feature one of the clearest and earliest arguments for the foundation of freedom of expression, but his general comments on government and democracy are also of great relevance to issues in contemporary politics.
