It's not "seemingly" designed, it is "exactly" designed to put profits over people.
@ZombieQueeen
@ZombieQueeen Месяц назад
She's using the term "seemingly" deliberately. It's not to demonize the healthcare system as a whole, but to highlight that in some cases, it can be detrimental. This way, her statements aren't directly challenged by positive stories, allowing for a more nuanced understanding. People generally resist being told anything outright, whether it's bad or good, especially as Americans.

Because our government invests and okays this. Our taxes are wasted on foreign wars and support their hate for us and others. Also, it would be nice to gather all the money these "officials", both elected and unelected, have stashed in accounts overseas from payoffs and stealing funds from projects. That includes the companies that earn billions from us paying insurance for healthcare machines and medications/treatment.

As a former medical debt collector I can attest to what this woman is saying. I talked to many patients who broke my heart with stories of having to choose between paying their mortgage/rent and paying for their life saving medications. One woman owed $5500 for 60 pills to offset the effects of chemotherapy. That amounts to about $92 per pill. That is outrageous! I left my job because of the emotional toll it took on me. Our healthcare system here in the US is broken and really has become about profits over people. We should be ashamed and outraged

I agree with her 100%. My 3 year old daughter was diagnosed with a rare liver cancer who went through a lobectomy just then started chemo and radiation then a liver transplant and went into complete remission but the cancer metastasized 4 months later and then she passed way just 3 months after that. We weren’t even able to get her body to my home state and the debt collectors were already hounding us. With insurance, we were still left with an astronomical healthcare debt of $990,000.00. This is not counting the debt we incurred while having to relocate from Washington State to San Francisco to live where she was being treated before the transplant in which the costs of that alone were astronomical. We went bankrupt after only 400,000.00 of that was written off by some debt collectors. Shameful

I am so sorry. The system is disgraceful and the only thing is that it has to be disbanded top to bottom before a new system, more equitable, can be put in place. The problem is the country is so large, with so many people. Successful, well-run medical systems operate in smaller countries -- Holland, Switzerland, Denmark Sweden, and Norway are examples. England's, unfortunately, is overwhelmed by too many using the National Health and underfunded in many capacities. It had started off as a good system but now waiting lines for operations are sometimes a year or more. Still, it's affordability services many people without putting them in bankruptcy -- unlike the American system. And in the US, having health insurance is dependent on whether you have a job. If you have lost your job, that also means you lose your medical coverage. And even when you have health insurance with a job, it doesn't mean that it isn't expensive. I hope you will find a solution.

She urged him to quit, which he did after giving his colleagues time enough to find his replacement. He then went to the mountains in a van camper with his dog. He spends his days in nature, admiring the beautiful trees, hiking. He said he was so frustrated because he knew with some patients, he could heal them by just talking to them, making suggestions for life style changes. But hospital only wanted him to perform expensive operations and diagnose hugely costly medications. He said this is a system that just cannot continue.

He blamed the system, and tried to make it seem like it was a selfless reason he quit, but what he did was abandon his patients, and left them with people that don’t care about them. He could’ve tried to change the system from the inside; he has experience and education in the healthcare industry and could do more than a person from the outside. All he did was spread hate about the system, but did nothing to help. All he did was fuel the flame; people just love to hate hospitals. This is the wrong attitude. There are people that went into the healthcare industry because they wanted to help others, yet everyone treats them like they are scamming you. There needs to be a smoother way to get the healthcare needed without having the industry turned over to government, who will do it in an even more inefficient and costlier way than it is now. Some people have turned to the "co-op" kind of method (not sure what it is called) where you pay a doctor a certain sum of money yearly, and then he or she covers anything your family gets ill with or needs help with for the duration of the year, aside from the major accidents. For that, you take out the type of insurance to cover just those catastrophic cases. When enough community people jump in the wagon in this manner, the hometown doctor knows ahead of time what kind of budget he's working with, and it can bring them peace of mind, along with the fact that the community can trust they've got someone covering their backs without major extra costs.

No, it doesn't. It's illegal for an insurance company to put a lifetime cap on your medical portion of your policy. I'm not sure about the medication part, but I know they cannot put a cap on his medical benefits. So idk what she could be talking about unless the insurance company did it and she didn't know better. She can sue them. I'm a retired nurse and I was pretty sure, in the US, they can't cap his medical benefits, so I did some research just to make sure its still that way, and it is!

But her claim is that even today cancer specifically has too many out-of-pocket costs that are not being covered by insurance companies that can amount to up to a third of someone’s income. Also, according to HHS website there are two exceptions for limiting lifetime and annual limits for coverage which are for health care services that are not considered essential health benefits (your state determines which services are essential) or for grandfathered plans which ended as early as 2010.

The rich who abusively grab more money & power by spreading lies and fear behind the dysfunctional health "care" system as well as America's dysfunctional "justice" system. Just like a spouse being abused in a domestic violence situation, those of us who are being abused need to find ways to take our power back. Exposing the people who are lying and revealing their motivations will start the process. Thanks for recognizing the pattern when so many people are just blaming the victims.

Stop with this victim narrative. It wasn’t designed to rip off the poor; the rich also use healthcare. It rips off EVERYONE. It’s not targeted at the poor; it just affects the poor more than the rich. But even the rich can become poor with major medical bills.
@xejelah
@xejelah 20 дней назад
No. It used to be the poor couldn't afford insurance. It was middle class and wealthy. Primarily for major issues that were likely to never happen. But, as health has decreased in this country, more people needed it because they can't afford it. Neither can insurance companies which is why they don't take people who are already sick. Until Obamacare made them. But, they still can't afford it or they'll go bankrupt. So, they often have limitations, caps, or refuse to pay out. If it went to the way it was - it would only be for dire situations like this and they'd be able to pay it out like they used to.

My best friend's brother, he was an adult at the time, got hit by 3 cars and was basically left a vegetable. This made the state legally required to pay for his care.

@@JustJerseyJo95 You have lots of advice and experience with people in this situation. So far your advice have said the woman in the video is lying, that you're a retired nurse and I strange companies never cap coverage 😂, that bankruptcy is a good option, divorcing a sick spouse is the smart option, and now that turning over a loved one to be a ward of the state in order to get care is the way to go. 😮
@JustJerseyJo95
@JustJerseyJo95 Месяц назад
@@maryarney1350 again, I didn't day she was lying but perhaps her insurance company was defrauding her or there was a misunderstanding. If you don't believe what I said about there are no caps, you can always do some research for yourself. You seem to be saying I'm lying, so before you start doing that, look up the information please. Sometimes people have to do things like getting divorced or turning someone over as a ward of the state to save their loved ones lives. I've seen it happen many times, it's unfortunate, but usually they're left no choice. Some elderly people don't get married and end up just living together because they would lose benefits that they're already getting and they need those benefits to be able to live. Like I said though, no disrespect, but you can always research the subject yourself. Have a beautiful day! 🙂

Just like any health legislation (Obamacare) or government program (NHS?), the key thing you want to get in place for the people is called (by quality assurance professionals like me) “continuous improvement”. By the time we finally got Obamacare, it was outdated and could have already had vast improvements. I don’t care if they call it “socialized medicine”. Even if you’re personally rich, unless you’re Scrooge himself who had no one, you have a relative, friend or neighbor who needs medical assistance, preventively or currently. It’s time the richest country in the world makes sure its citizens are in the best health and well fed and housed. It will be a better country for ALL of us. America may not have a king, but we have a very greedy upper class. We need the government to run health care with equal access for all and under continuous scrutiny for cost savings and efficiency in delivering the best.
