Today on offensive breakdown, I break down NFL schemes that get covered by the likes of QB School and Brett Kollmann. That’s right, the spread offensive breakdown is seen in NFL offenses and are covered by the QB School and Brett Kollmann
Not NFL Offense, But brett kollmann breaks down NFL game film and offensives. This QB School like offensive breakdown goes deep into the NFL spread concepts and how high school football can use NFL style plays covered by brett kollmann and QB School

Coach Bronson, That's fantastic coach. Glad you are having success. Let me know if I can help.

You can do a triple option read as well off of this look. Instead of blocking the front side end, leave him alone, and get the linebacker behind him (in this look). Q Reads the end and will give or keep. His second read is the slot linebacker...Y goes for the safety in his blocking assignment. Q will either keep or pitch to F, throw the bubble to F or Keep, or throw a deep (5-7 steps by Y) slant to Y that can be utilized off of his blocking path (referencing Y). Backside 1 step slant will eat this coverage alive (especially if L is on the WIDE side of the field). That is just a little bit of what I see in this alignment match-up (have about 100 more things I would do).

I agree. That's a wrinkle you can throw defenses with this play. You have the ability to read the EMOLS instead of the backer. We've tried that a couple of times, but weren't really successful at it.

Where were you when I put in the spread last season! Learning so much watching this. After 20 years coaching the Wing T and the Veer this stuff is new to me, but this channel answers so many questions!

Hey Coach, I'm glad I can help. I'm just trying to give back to this great profession. What made you want to change offenses?
@kevincolburn9084
@kevincolburn9084 7 лет назад
We have just changed in the type of kids we get. A lot of tall lanky athletic kids and less Big kids. We felt we needed to spread the field and have a better chance to get our athletes in space. Last year was a little rough, but i didn't coach it well enough. we will be better this year!
@CoachMcKie

The spread will get those basketball type kids out. I know it did for us. We went to the Spread after being Wing T. The first year was difficult. We only won two games. But we improved our scoring and by year two we made the playoffs. Good luck to you and let me know if you need any help.

hat is what I hope. We just won the state championship this weekend in basketball. The older kids did not play, but we have two twin freshmen who are 6-3 and crazy athletic and both are playing. One will be our QB and the other our best receiver. We went from 0-9 to 3-6 last year. Hope to do a lot better next year!

I mix in single wing basics to spread. I know you ran wing T but you can add what you know to what you learn. Makes learning easy and you trust calling the offense a bit more.I never ran wing T or single wing as my primary offense it's been a wrinkle I use against faster teams with less size. Best way to look at spread offense or the passing game in general is to simply win the numbers game and take what the defense gives you. I will run a slot bubble screen 100 times in a row if the defense doesn't adjust.. In the DC MD area defenses load the box and blitz B n gaps all game. It took me years to commit to this play calling style. I trust my qbs to kill plays if needed. I call two or three plays . I have the option to signal the check to my qb or let him make it on his own. If he checks to something I don't like I will kill it to one of 5 plays we can run out of any formation. These plays are called perfect plays and we practice them each practice against a scout defense. I give the coach running scout D a list of fronts and coverages I want to see each practice and we run the offense as if were in a game ( two coaches act as refs one spots the ball after each play the other is in charge of the play clock. We use 15 or 20 seconds for practice to create a sense of urgency presnap.) If you can block each front and take what the D is giving you you'll pick things up quick and win games. Route combos , rubs,picks, practice blocking with your wideouts everyday. If the defense sits back you have to be able to hit quick screens. Force teams to cover your slot. I start most games with teams using a safety thats 7 yards deep with his eyes in the backfield in charge of covering my slot. Even if it's zone it makes no difference the slot has a ton of room to work with. Outside wideout has to make a hard block on a athlete but if the corners playing off ( I haven't seen press coverage in a long time. We see corners play 3 yards off at most and 95 percent of the time the corners are 7 yards off ( DC MD area has insane speed and agility . I don't see the same defenses or schemes that you guys do. Teams walk backers to the A gaps , safety plays in the box like a linebacker, Corners play off , they dare you to throw. They stay in this until you abuse the flats with a rb,, te , slot. rb and t.e are never covered. Even with flats wide open and hell everything open it's impossible to complete a pass without a strong minded QB. There are years I have to run a simple run heavy offense because I don't have a QB who can mentally handle it. Make sure you got a guy you can build around. He doens't need to be super accurate with a riffle arm. He just has to get the ball there. Some of my best qbs were running backs that took well to coaching. If your qb can think clearly no matter what happens in the game then open the system up for him. If you're like me going into this spring season without a true qb then keep things simple and add what you can . The things you learn on here can almost be used in any offense. That's the beauty of this channel. Coaches blocking scheme is pretty much the same scheme I have been using since I was young O.C running I formation. Smart. Worry about first level . To many people leave holes for defenders to walk threw by trying to block the second level. If you get to the second level you gained yards. If you keep pounding the backer with a lead block or a hard runner you gain yards and soften up that backer. I hope this helps some way. I'm bored and itching for football. I figured I'd share random crap I know. I'll listen to any advice. Hell. I watch 9 man football and learn things. Arena league is the only football I won't watch. I've learned from watching youth coaches while scouting lil 6-8th graders lol. I'll shut up now. Best of luck buddy.

I run mine similar: dart/tackle wrap to the left and then on the right a bubble screen to the inside wr. I like to attack the edge of the defense if I can. Really stress the cb and safeties

I love the dart concept. We are installing it this year. Going more gap-scheme instead of more zone style.

Hey coach. Thanks for watching. I'll make a video showing how we adjust against the Stack. I'll talk about how we attack the Stack with a 2 High Shell and against a 1High Shell.

Hey coach. Have you made a video about inside zone from 2x2 or trips? The basic 3'rd and 1 down block inside zone that looks like a single wing wedge. I'm trying to find ways to get better play from my guards and center. Were a big country team so we have the size. We see a ton of teams walking backs to both a gaps. All gaps clogged . We can keep throwing it to the flat or etc but I think it's a pride thing when it comes to picking up that yard. We line up toe to toe I'm wondering if a little space would help? I lost both line coaches and spring ball is coming soon. My current line coach just doesn't know much football. I'm old school Gap, On, Down when it comes to blocking. Any advice on pass pro or inside zone while in a open front like 2x2 would be awesome. It's possible that were just out numbered because we are. Some teams shot every gap and out number us. The rb will go uncovered for entire games. Some coaches will not adjust. It's nice to pop it to the rb on a flare or etc and get easy chunk yards but I still want to be able to run the ball/clock. I also don't want my QB taking that many hits. IDK about you but roughing the passer is a call I have never seen while calling plays in the metro area. We have trouble with blocking the open edge oppisite of our rb. We pick up the guys in the middle with ease. Going to bigger splits (were toe to toe) if something I think may help but also may hurt given the sugaring of the A gaps. Let me know your thoughts. I appreciate it a ton. I lost a ton of help and I am calling offense with a RB coach and a WR coach that will miss half the season. Thanks again for everything you do!

Coach Markland, That sucks that you've loss your coaches. We've gone to a simplier version of the inside zone. We are working more horizontial displacement and letting our Running Backs make the line right. It's almost like wide zone blocking wise. The only difference is we have our running back aim for the play side A gap as opposed to the play side C gap in the wide zone. If they are blitzing every gap them I would be running some kind of pass - mesh, shallow cross, or something similar. Force them to fear the pass and that will open up the run.

When pulling to the LB, have you had any issues with the playside LB reading it like an iso and filling immediately? if so, how do you adjust/ what options are there for your running back in this situation? Thanks for the help!
@CoachMcKie

Coach McElderry, I like it when the front side linebacker fills quickly because he usually gets blindsided by the puller. Some of our biggest plays have come from this reaction.

Coach McKie, what's your adjustment in this package when the SS walks down for a Single High Press Man across the Board?
@CoachMcKie
@CoachMcKie 7 лет назад
Coach, I went over this in the last One Back power video. All we do is run what I call 'Switch'. The Y now runs the snag and the F runs the 5 and in. The way we run it it becomes a pick route. The Y should pop open and if the QB throws it to him then it is almost always 6 points.

Why are you pulling the RG rather than double team? Is this a timing thing or something else?
@marcpersing5967

Coach- if a team gives you a 2-tech(instead of the 1-tech) with a stacked backer are you blocking it the same way with the center just taking a flatter step?
@CoachMcKie

You could make a call and the guard blocks man on and pull the center

@CoachMcKie

+Calvin Davis Coach, thanks for watching my video. It means a lot to me that you take time out of your day to watch my stuff. We still run the the play. If we are running towards a shade then we block down with the guard and pull the center.
@Lifelessboro
@Lifelessboro 4 года назад
You talk about running power away from the shade so center can block back, but also running to the boundary so you can have trips to the field. Presume if shade is on the boundary side you still keep trips to the field and change the blocking scheme?

Sorry Coach... that did not come out write as I typed it on my cell phone...at my computer now. I was basically asking if you are more comfortable with veer concept (same side reads) vs. reading backside ends using RPO's. Again, sorry for the confusion.

Coach, Thoroughly enjoy the channel. I am hoping to initiate my own coaching career at the conclusion of my present occupation in the military. I was hoping you could provide me with advice as to what degrees I should pursue in order to best set myself up for success. In addition, if you could recommend any reading materials from your shelf you would consider vital to a new coach's development, it would be greatly appreciated.

Coach Peterson, Thank you for the kind words. It means a lot to me. And thank you for taking time out of your day to watch my videos. The best degree, I think, for coaching football is a math degree. Schools are always looking for math teachers so you should be able to find a job pretty easy. Plus, the degree has gotten me my OC job because the position that was with it had to be math.
