September 23, 2017. Katie ran her first 100 miler in Oregon, the Mountain Lakes 100. If you are looking to run your first 100 miler, we definitely recommend this one. The course is mostly single track trail, on the PCT, nice and smooth, with about 11,000 ft of gain but no super steep section, all very runnable.
Katie's first goal was to finish, second goal was to finish under 24h, third goal to place. With Gwen pacing her for the entire distance, all her goal were achieved. She finished in 23h56, placing second women overall.
It has been a hard journey, but Katie was able to overcome stomach issues early on in the race. As we upload this video, 3 weeks after the race, Katie hasn't returned to training because of knee issues that are really slowing down the recovery process.
Thanks so much for the great race organization and the amazing volunteers!
