Dale should get a raise and a promotion for the issues he has had to work around. In a perfect world without electrical install delays or worker shortages, those machines would be up and running making or saving the company millions. Dale is a gosh darn hero and should be treated as such.

Dale seems to be a guy hired to solve a specific problem, has production level oversight, ability to do large purchases, I have a feeling he is being paid enough. =D Gotta love him though.

Exactly. I can't imagine how fucked they'd be without Dale (or someone equally as qualified). Supply chain issues aren't his fault, and once the power is in, he's primed Wyrmwood to produce to a level they've never even dreamed of.

I love how this episode and the last one shows 2 amazing employees doing their job and everyone is saying they need a raise. Pretty sure Doug has them well taken care of.

Joking aside, the fact that Doug can say "what's wrong with this machine?" or "why isn't it running?" and Dale can instantly, and accurately tell him that information makes him a true asset to Wyrmwood.

I love that the wyrmling's response to 'should we fire dale?' is 'How DARE. You suggest get rid of Dale? Nay! Give Dale Many Money! All of it! Raises! Bonuses on machines working!' We love Dale and it's clear he knows his shiit. And also is willing to be very clear on it in terms of success and failure.

You need more Dale's to keep up with the 3 headed think tank of Jason, Doug, and Bobby. That's a year backlog of just solid manufacturing engineering effort there which is a lot of money to just let sit untapped while trying to invent the next dog bed.

Yeah everyone is having these problems. It's production hell. Hope most things will be running fairly soon. It's actually quite fascinating how fragile the whole system is. Give Dale his 4th of July week and give him a raise for finding a lot of the machinery for a bargain.

My wife and I are planning a trip to iceland from the US next year! Any thoughts on what we should prioritize seeing? Art, history, and nature are our interests.

@@tosteson1 Well it depends on budget and how much time you have :). The easy start is a day tour going the Golden Circle starting from Reykjavik. Covering Þingvellir, Geysir and Gullfoss. On Reykjanesskagi you have the American and European contenental plates view point, and the Blue Lagoon. On Snæfellsnes you have a nice cave tour, the Glacier tour and a few nice scenic points. Just those 3(4) are 1 day tours in 3 directions. The capital area has plenty of art and museums. In Árbær, Reykjavik, we have have the outdoor cultural museum. I would recomend to decide what high lights you want to see, but give your self some time to enjoy each one and don't over plan your time here :). The weather can easily change, Iceland is a very windy place.

My guess is Wyrmwood needs Dale far more than Dale needs Wyrmwood so he's fine either way. All these supply issues were evident when the equipment was purchased so not sure why you all bought the wrong gear to "save" money.

100% this. Seeing this video just demonstrates how poorly managed Wyrmwood is - jumping at shiny shit that sounds like a good idea rather than actually focusing on delivering the products they need to. Seeing this just explains why the Modular Gaming Table has been such a colossal shitshow.

Remember that sitting on cash is a poor strategy with the current inflation rates. The machines don't devalue at the same rate, so sitting on hardware that will eventually make them money is not as bad of an idea as they make it sound in the video. I agree though. They sometimes jump at shiny things, but I think exploring opportunities shouldn't be discouraged.

I feel the delay pain. I'm a network engineer for an ISP. Equipment we used to be able and get in a couple weeks, is now 52 weeks out. That delays getting fiber to the home and services to lots of people. Now do that for everyone around the world, and it isn't getting better.

It seems there's really one thing Dale can be directly attributed to for failure, and that's the hex drill. Everything else it seems like there are parts that are needed that just arn't available or require outside support. Man, imagine if they get those driverless semis up and going....

I could literally feel Dale's discomfort through the screen. Dale is a true gem and a force multiplier for Wyrmwood. His depth of knowledge and breadth of experience are clearly evident in all of these videos. Supply chain issues notwithstanding, Wyrmwood is a better company because you made the right decision to hire Dale. Get that week of vacation for July 4th Dale, the problem will still be there when you get back.

right now transformers are 20 weeks out, panels are 18-24 weeks, Switchgear is 40 weeks, built Generators are 65 weeks minimum as of 6/15/2022

Yup. I'm starting CA on a school systemic renovation and we are ordering switchgear and mechanical units for 2024. Storefront was at 4 months before the pandemic, now it's something like a year just to get windows and doors

so... it seems pretty obvious that firing Dale makes little sense. that said... it does feel a little bit like some growing issues. With the "kickstarter project" model you get surges, and to meet the surge you specialize the equipment, and then the surge dies down... it's different than steady sustainable growth models so while those are USUALLY good investments, I worry it's not really a fit with Wyrmwoods current model. Course, that said, I would LOVE to see more steady inventory rather than needing to try to plan everything for the next 2 years out when the kickstarter comes up :P.

First of all a lot of these problems wouldn't be even realised and seen as lost potential without a Dale. Soo had a talk with a power company guy. There's a 2 year wait for transformers on homes. This hurricane season and winter is going to have problems power infastructure-wise. On the drilling machine it's much easier to do three heads.... With two bits coming in from equal and opposite directions has got to be super tricky because no machine is perfect.

Hasn't he already saved you more than a million dollars? Even if you've just broken even, having his technical expertise makes him invaluable. I mean, it sounds like what you probably need to do is hire some kind of mechanic or technician who's job it is to repair and maintain the machines you already have; you've got enough equipment on the floor that it could probably be a full time job, especially considering how often things break down.

Doug: I have 0 tucks to give. *smirks* Dale: Damn. It's a crappy position to be in. Most of the stuff isn't solely on you. You were asked to get things that would improve productivity and (sans the world), would have delivered. For the most part. On the other hand, why wasn't any of the warehouse electrical requirement limitations known before purchasing/procuring the equipment that needed it? (Especially during these last 2 and a 1/2 years.) Nothing's back to 'normal', and I we have to expect a new normal now for most of this decade, at the most. Don't mind me though. Keep it up Dale, you've got a great eye for hidden gems. Shame the cut and polish can't be done on them, like it used to be before 2020 happened.

Dale/Doug - send me a list of all the electrical gear you need, and I might be able to help. I think I've possibly got at least some of what you need sitting around my shop (I've know I've got a pile of 400 amp cutoff switches for instance as well as a bunch of smaller ones and I think a 600 amp), and I suspect I can find a lot of the rest down here in SC without much trouble, likely for less than the numbers you were tossing around in this vid.
