A good thing to note that so many people don't really notice about when Luffy tries to get Sanji to join..... He never tasted Sanjis cooking, he says Sanji is a good cook because he saw that he was a good person.

It was probably cheaper to do a simple, short CGI scene at the beginning than to show Luffy's fight against Don Krieg! Like pretty much everything in the LA, cheaply done!

Manga/anime Baratie is totally Sanji's arc, it was pretty much all cut in the LA where he became more of a side character. I didn't mind them cutting Don Krieg (well, more like having Mihawk killing him lol), but i missed the Gin from the manga and other parts that gave a lot more characterization to Sanji.

Wonder how much of that was because of Netflix putting their stank on everything they're involved in. They possibly could've done more with the main character's stories if they didn't try to constantly force feed us Koby all season, through stretches where he/she doesn't belong. 🙄

Don Krieg was the biggest thing they cut from the Live action. He was the main antagonist of this Baratie arc! So this will all be totally new for you guys

Chef fed Garp to try and distract him, then he offered to feed Arlong in the live action. The person Sanji fed in the live action and anime was Gin. They cut out Krieg‘s part in the Baratie arc due to time constraints with the live action. The way they cut it down and how was just a slight change in the story. It was smart and worked. Loved that they used it to introduce Mihawk.

I'd say principles, instead of morals. Because they're not all based in morality. Some are, but some are based on desires rather than moral matters.

Don Krieg must be so confusing for everyone starting with the live action! But one of the things his bits really show is how Sanji will feed anyone who's hungry, even when it's realistically not a good idea. He just CAN'T leave someone hungry. Speaking of Sanji, he's a bit insane about women in the anime, he has no chill whatsoever in that department, lol. Looking forward to what you make of this arc! It's going to be very different in some ways, don't worry about feeling confused it will all make sense by the end of it.

Sanji and Zeff are cooks, they are not doing it for money, they doing it for anyone who's hungry no matter if they are good guy or bad guy, they know the feeling of having no food in the middle of the ocean. Remember Sanji's backstory in Live Action? They have ton of treasure (money) but could not buy them food. That's why they started a restaurant for people that are hungry in the middle of the ocean, Sanji was following Zeff teaching, and that's why Sanji asked the marine lieutenant earlier too if money can feed him. It's all falls to Zeff and Sanji's backstory. I'll feed you but I'll bit you as well.

Paty was clearly inspired from the typical japanese Okinawa fisher but in the live-action they choosed someone different XD 14:53 notice that some of these random people (like the father with that "hair") was also in the live-action w And here we go: Don Krieg the next opponent of Luffy and iconic villain of East Blue Saga! \°D°/ Like i said in the comment section of the live-action, in japan people was a bit bitter that Don Krieg didnt has much screen time since his costume was well done lol

In the live action Krieg got killed off by Mihawk in Mihawk's introduction. Also the lesson behind Sanji's character in terms of feeding the hungry is definitely that your sense of right and wrong should be inherent rather than based on beneficial outcomes. Also I understand the enthusiasm to compare the anime to the live action but it does seem to be causing you to miss a good amount of dialogue.

Don Krieg was in the LA where they introduce Mihawk. Mihawk was fighting Don Krieg and his whole armada. Have you guys notice yet that Luffy granpa and Kobi is nowhere to be found in the anime?

Surprised that no one talked about this. Oda used to work part-time at a restaurant called Baratei. He was like Luffy, breaking plates, eating dishes off randomly. But Oda..is also..like Sanji as you are aware of, only in terms of having an eye for Nami, marrying an actress who cosplayed like her and met him in an exhibition. Its a cultural thing among mangaka, to marry the one who looks the most like the main lead.

Yep, Don Krieg was in the live version. He was the one Dracule Mihawk killed. The one that shot him with the bullets and Mihawk cut them in half.

One big difference I didn't like they did in LA was they made Luffy a westernized Hero, who butts in on other people's problems and judge ppl. Anime/manga Luffy stay out of other ppl problems until and only when they really ask for help and needed help. Luffy is not an avenger, he won't fight Don Crieg just because he plays dirty or attacks Sanji. Sanji and the restaurant is fighting for themselves so he is letting them do that. Once he realizes they need his help only then he will butt in not because to avenge but to help in their cause.

Yeah, that's kinda what I don't like about LA Luffy either. Actually Luffy doesn't force himself into other people's altercations, and will stand by and observe. But the thing that annoys me the most in the LA is how he trying to convince people, like Koby in the boat scene, to pursue their dream. Whereas in the anime/manga, Koby asks Luffy if he thinks he should join the Marines and pursue it, and Luffy tells him that "he doesn't know". He isn't going to make those decisions for you and coddle you like a child. And then he laughs at Koby and calls him stuff like a coward, because he objectively was. Whereas in the LA, he's affirming Koby the whole time.. It's very reflective of certain insecure groups in society today that need constant affirmation and approval. You see so much of it in recent years in movies, shows, and remakes that they make for what they call a "modernized audience". 🙄

With anime logic and physics, most attacks are non-lethal. Even shooting at people won’t kill them. People can only be killed by the necessity of the plot 😊

In the Live Action Sanji and Patty are talking in the kitchen about Dancing and eye on the Blonde which in the anime he hits on the other pirate is small one you see later but not a big part. Yes in the Live Action he did smoke plus you see smoking in the end number 7 episodes when number crying plus when talking to Luffy with the dishes. Taz Skylar does smoke.

Mihawk kills Don Krieg in the LA so you still see him in the LA even if its for only a few scenes. Also to help you going further DONT think of the LA since theres a few big changes from now on think of the anime as a show on its own,somethings might be similar but its changed + a lot of detailes are removed in the LA that makes 0 sense going forward with the story.

The live action had to condence a LOT so they essentaly remixed the east blue saga a little bit it has the same soul and uses the same elements but placed or cut down differently. I dont take it as a good or bad thing, it just is lol

I think it's because they're trying to translate "nakama" which can be a little bit of a problem sometimes. It literally means "people who are part of the same group". Although in One Piece it fits very well to translate it as "crew" most of the time. It's even more confusing later on when they translate it as "friend" instead, because that's really not a good translation, especially for Nami's arc.

The east blue saga has also been re-translated into English subs at least 3 times by now, and the translations differ between them. The 4Kids version was terrible, but it was still the 1st we got in the USA. They really did assume it was a children's anime back then, and censored the life out of it.
