Let's talk about the best way to get rid of hypoglycemia naturally. Hypoglycemia is a condition where you have low blood sugar (below 70 mg/dl).
Common symptoms of hypoglycemia:
• Shakiness
• Irritability
• Anxiety
• Hunger
• Sweating
• Headaches
• Inability to concentrate
• Blurred vision
A person with hypoglycemia has insulin resistance. Chronic consumption of refined carbohydrates and frequent eating trigger spikes in insulin, which causes insulin resistance.
It's rare to have low blood sugar when experiencing hypoglycemic symptoms. With hypoglycemia, you may have normal blood sugar levels, but you also have high insulin.
Glucose absorption in the cells is also dependent on insulin. The more insulin resistance you have, the less glucose you'll have in the cells. This is why you might have normal amounts of glucose in the blood but low amounts of glucose in the cells. This type of hypoglycemia is called hyperinsulinemic hypoglycemia.
The worst thing you can do for hypoglycemia is to consume frequent small meals or sugar. The best way to get rid of hypoglycemia is to run your body on fat (fatty acids and ketones) instead of sugar for fuel.
Switching the body's fuel source only takes a few days, and you don't need insulin to be involved in the process. Switching the body to fat fuel may also help with many other conditions associated with insulin resistance.
Fat fuel is much more efficient than sugar for energy, taking massive stress off the mitochondria. The majority of non-infectious diseases may be related to damaged mitochondria. Other organs like the thyroid, liver, heart, and brain can also function better on fat fuel.
There is only one thing you need to do to switch to fat fuel and get rid of hypoglycemia: lower your carbohydrates below 50 grams per day.

You're doing a wonderful job. I have recently lost 75 lb. I cut down on my carbohydrates and sugar. I stopped eating carbohydrates and sugar. The one thing I found was my mental clarity. My brain fog went away. I'm not grumpy anymore or not dizzy my sight's not blurry. My skin tags are going away. It's amazing how the body works. My blood pressure went from 260 over 90 to 1 15/ 60. All because I started watching these RU-vidrs and doctors who are talking about low carb eating. Thank you and you are saving lives. Keep up the good work

I’m seriously almost in happy tears right now. For over a year, I’ve been talking to multiple doctors about what I thought was something I made up in my head. I have been wanting to lose weight through healthy eating, but every time I tried doing the “common sense” stuff, I would start sweating, shaking, and feel like I was going to faint. I started checking my blood sugar, and it never got below 78 when experiencing these symptoms. My current doctor ended up joking that “maybe I just wanted to eat candy” because my numbers were fine. I have been so discouraged because no one had any ideas or answers and I literally could not ignore the awful “false low blood sugar” spells, so I would just go back to eating like crap, because at least I didn’t feel like I was going to faint…meanwhile my blood pressure and weight kept climbing up. At this point, I don’t even care about what I look like…I’m just too young to be this unhealthy. This is the first time I’ve felt hopeful in a long time. Thank you ❤

@@chrisgrui1993 thank you ❤️. I started healthy Keto the following day. Down 12 pounds so far and haven’t had any issues with feeling faint or shaky. The only issue I’ve had so far is that my heart rate has been elevated. Totally my fault for not considering how important adding electrolytes was. I thought I could just get my daily recommended amount of magnesium, calcium, sodium, and potassium through my diet. That’s a bit trickier than I thought considering I’m eating so much less than before with IF. Holy cow, though! I’m shocked at how well this worked for me. I’ve had a hard time shutting up about it. I feel like I need to preach keto gospel to everyone now 😂

@@SP70011 I’m really surprised it took me so long to find this info because I had been googling what could cause low blood sugar symptoms without actually having low blood sugar and nothing I found seemed related to what I was experiencing. I thought if my doctors and Google didn’t know, I must just be making it up 😂. They finally referred me to an endocrinologist, but I have to wait another month still. I’m hoping that by then, my blood work will look good as I’ve been doing healthy keto since the day after I found this channel. I’ve had a few slip ups, mainly because I didn’t take the electrolyte advice seriously until several weeks in. But I’m down almost twenty pounds since the end of February, don’t experience the false low blood sugar symptoms, sleep better, and am eating wayyyyy less calories without even trying to cut back. I typically eat 1200-1400 calories a day and sometimes that’s a struggle just because I’m trying to get enough nutrients in. When I’d try things like the Mediterranean diet, for example, I was consuming way more calories and still feeling faint and shaky. I’m still not sure if I’m going to be a “keto for lifer”, but I’m hoping that I can get my weight and health where I want them and then at least stick with a low carb diet that’s focused on clean foods instead of all the processed junk I was addicted to before. We will see what’s next when I reach some of my health goals. Sorry for the long response, I’m just hoping that if someone else is just finding this channel and on the fence, I can encourage them to try it because it’s been so incredibly helpful for me! BUT, as I mentioned, the electrolytes were way more important than I had anticipated, so I would encourage anyone just starting to have some on hand before starting. It’s difficult to impossible to find “clean” electrolytes in stores near me, so I had to order some online. I know Dr. Berg sells some and I’ve yet to try them, but I really enjoy Re-Lyte Hydration from Redmond’s Real Salt. I just get the unflavored kind, so it just tastes like slightly salty water, which doesn’t bother me, but they have flavored available. I thought I could just get enough sodium, magnesium, calcium, and potassium through the foods I was eating, but it’s very difficult and I was definitely feeling the effects of being dehydrated in the beginning. Another thing to note that I thought was encouraging, my cardiologist gave me his blessing to try keto and acknowledged that, while he would still prefer a diet that focuses on protein, the studies have not shown keto to have negative effects on your heart like many amongst his profession had originally suspected. I’m at my lowest weight in over three years, so THAT has to be easier on my body. Good luck on your journey, everyone!

I have hypoglycemia for more than 30 yrs. I started the sweating, fainting, etc. when I felt hungry when I was about 10 yrs old and now I am 44. It took me about 10 years to find out those symptoms was due to low blood sugar. I had to bring snacks/sugar everywhere I go. I was a real pain. I also had gastritis, which made the hypoglycemia getting worse and worse over the years. In addition, I took PPI for several years, which was first helpful, but then I found that it was a silent killer that eventually deprived my nutrition absorption and I started to had a harder and harder time to digest protein. I had a lot of pain in my body. Eventually, I found that I could eat only a little, but fat was the one thing that does not irritate my stomach and I liked it as I was starving everyday all day long. So, I naturally started keto, I found that I actually craved for keto food. 3 months into keto, my hypoglycemia got noticeably better. 6 months into keto, I did not need to bring sugar with me everywhere I go. I still need to bring a small snack between lunch and dinner as I could only have small meals. I could drank some tea. I loved coffee and tea, but could not drink them due to gastritis. Now I am one year into keto, I am trying to replace my afternoon snack with a coffee latte. And I feel so much better than the previous years. The best thing is that I feel I finally get the freedom from addiction to food or craving for food in general. I have more energy. My nails and hair got better. Thanks for your videos. They all made sense to me. Only wish I could find your videos years earlier.

About fifteen years ago I was out walking with my daughter. We went further than we had planned. 3/4 through it I got all sweaty and shaky and almost fainted. I could not take another step. I had to send my daughter back home to get some fruit to bring me so I could make it home. That was my wakeup call. I started to change my diet. For years I was eating Paleo, then Keto and six years ago changed to carnivore. Now, I eat 2 times a day, never ever snack, if something comes up and I can't eat it's not a problem at all. I swore to myself I would never feel like that episode again. It was scary.

Change to the old 1950s British diet in the prologue of Good Calories, Bad Calories over 12 years ago. Mostly meat based. Had what I called the hunger shakes since childhood. Low blood sugar. My father had them as well and was diabetic by age 34. He was not fat. 180 pound and had muscles when he left. He was stationed in Egypt. Back in the 60s you went for a year. He came back 8 months later weighing 120 pounds. He was told it was type 2, but my doctor told me it was likely type 1. He went straight to insulin. He always said I was the child he feared would be diabetic as well. So much like him. And this was when people ate much better than they do today. I spent decades starving myself fat and sick on 1200 low fat, high fibre calories a day. Ate small meals every two hours. Had an active job. Went to the gym daily. Barely fit a size 18. And was always getting the hunger shakes. I have not had it since changing my diet. Have been busy and have forgotten to eat all day, no problems. Also dropped to a size 6/8. No starvation involved. I tell people if you can eat an apple and are more hungry after you are carb sensitive. If you get the hunger shakes you are very carb sensitive. The advice to eat an apple to feel full always failed me. Hunger shakes.

Yes, it really is freeing to know that you'll be fine with water until you can have a nutritious meal. I can go all day just with a tablespoon of coconut oil in the morning and a teaspoon of wheatgrass juice powder in a water bottle. But when I was hooked on coffee and pastries, I needed two cups of coffee just to function and a pastry to go with that, then I was hungry again at lunch, and craved snacks until late at night. I was never overweight but it's a rollercoaster that wastes a lot of time, energy and resources. Keto is clean living, you get to eat what your body needs and be free from food addictions. I am so grateful to Dr. Berg for showing me the light!

@Hazlanta Travels I think k it has to with the mentality of people. Women are I herently more selfish/self centered in my experience. Also, they do not self reflect or try to find ways to improve. A lot of women I talk to about being over weight think it's perfectly fine. Not to be too negative. Society cares about women's feelings and in result they care about themselves a lot too. They are taught to think of what's best for them, while as a man I was told to do what I know is best. It's a lot of red pill stuff but at least you, me, anyone who cares can take control of their life and be a good example to others.

Because of my anorexia, I only eat once a day and if I'm too exhausted to cook, I don't eat that day. It's not uncommon for me to eat nothing 1 or 2 times a week. The idea of fasting would terrify me. I do not eat sweets & realized early on that eating sugar or fruit during a hypoglycemic episode just made things worse. It's good to hear you confirm that. I changed his diet to meat & vegetables over the weekend, and his blood sugar has range between 97 and 158. We went to the doctors (yesterday) and all his test came back normal, to include A1C1 test. He has more doctor's appointments scheduled. My husband has had DS weight loss surgery. I was researching is morning and one of the causes of low blood sugar could be due to the DS surgery. Anyway, this video was helpful to me, because I'm trying to figure out a diet for him. I already made some frozen meals, chicken and vegetables, so that he will have something to eat at all times that is healthy. P.S. The DS surgery did not work for him, he weights about 290 lbs.

I really think my body is backwards from everybody else. When I was 13 I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia. They told me to eat six small meals a day and cut out sugar which I did. I was doing fine until I was in my late 30s and was diagnosed with prediabetes. I went to a nutritionist and realized that even though I wasn’t eating sugar I was eating more carbs than I realized. I cut out the carbs & still ate three small meals and my blood sugar numbers have been great. Now in my late 50s, I gained 10 pounds in the last year. I wasn’t eating more or working out less. I had blood work and a saliva test and that included thyroid, cortisol - evening & noon, progesterone, testosterone, estrogen and the only thing that was wrong was that way my DHEA level was low but now I’m taking supplements. I decided to do keto and intermittent fasting but it was a disaster. My cholesterol went from 197 to 256. I had no energy, headaches, cranky, insomnia, weak, shaky and couldn’t even finish my workouts. The hot flashes that had gone away years ago came back. I was a complete mess. And I gained 3 pounds. I did this for about 5 months. I’m pretty sure I was getting enough electrolytes because I was using Dr. Berg’s electrolyte powder. I finally went back to my old diet and feel great again and my blood sugar numbers are great. I just can’t seem to lose that 10 pounds. So frustrating.

@JustBrowsing777
@JustBrowsing777 11 месяцев назад
@zjunegirl1862 Is it the hypoglycemia or the keto way of eating that's troubling you? In the beginning, it was difficult knowing what to eat and how to cook. But you learn as you go along and watch videos for inspiration. Eventually, I found my diet very enjoyable. If hypoglycemia is troubling you, I can tell you it does get better if you stick with the intermittent fasting and lowcarb diet. Over time, your metabolic system and processes will improve/heal and learn to manage your bloodsugar. In the beginning you may want to eat, say, 3 meals instead of just 2 and keep a slightly longer eating window. Then progressively go for 2 meals and a 6 hour eating window or similar. Long-term you can probably change back to more meals and a 10-12 hour eating window when you have improved your condition. Long term it's important to make sure you dont lose a lot of muscle while fasting by overdoing it either.

I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia years ago. But at that time. I wasn't eating healthy at all. But because of my blood Suger issues. I was told to eat more frequently. But I had to make sure I ate real food. Organic and low glycemic foods. And no cheating. Surely enough, I started to feel better and I lost a ton of weight. And I wasn't doing keto. I could have benefited from getting more fat in my diet because I definitely felt hungry at lot. But I just didn't know and was a picky eater. It was a lot for me to change at one time. My doctor would definitely tell me i needed it if I asked. But my goal was just to eat real food first, then work on the frequency. Because the funny thing is, I was eating way more than I was before, yet I lost weight. And I think it had to do with what I was eating , not just how often. Plus, sometimes I didn't even eat a big meal. I just would have a handful of something and then that was it. Even Dr. Berg in past videos has said, If you have this condition to eat 3 meals a day. One thing I've noticed is he says to eat only 2 meals a day. But it seems like in those 2 meals. There's a lot of you have to eat or he recommended getting a lot in them. Like eating 7- 9 cups of greens. But for me. I would have that same amount or more, but throughout the day and usually in the form of smoothies and aside from having some protein, that was it. I guess my question to him is. If someone does 2 meals a day but they are big meals vs having small meals a day but more frequently. Does it really effect insulin any different. If they're eating the exact same helathy food but they just space it out throughout the day.

I'm not sure this applies to me. I am a low but healthy weight. I survive off keto and fasting, and I am fat-adapted. If I fast too long or work out too much without food, I am hypoglycemic to the textbook. I don't eat sugar. I simply need fuel and need to eat. My body reserves are too low. I am not insulin resistant. I think you need to make a point that you can genuinely be hypoglycemic when you faint, and from a First Aid perspective when super healthy and fit.

Only thing in my mind that "fixed" it, was the small fructose pill on the side. It just did not make any sense: How could i be low on sugar, when im just getting back into eating that stuff for even an evening (everybody is weak sometimes haha). When I was pre-diabetic, I would get something called blood sugar whiplashes, where my blood sugar spikes after having something very sweet and couple hours later, my body produced so much insulin that it brought my blood sugar waaay too low and I was feeling all of the symptoms listed here for low blood sugar. This was prior to my self health journey so I was unaware of the best way of dealing with it. I ate a granola bar 🤦‍♂️ In one occasion, when I was still a long haul truck driver, I was having a piano delivered to my house but I still needed to a deliver a load when I started feeling the low blood sugar. It was the end of my week and I had no more food in my truck. I delivered the load, parked the truck back at the company’s yard, and drove home in my car. This was a span of about 5hrs. When I got home, the delivery men were just finishing installation. They were excited and wanted to hear me play it but I was feeling so terrible from the low blood sugar .. I COULD NOT play!! The second i realized this, I just played a couple random notes and swiped the keys up and down and said “yup, it works guys” .. in my mind hoping they’d leave lol I’ve been playing for over 24 years. Even my family there listening to me were wondering “what the heck is wrong with him?” I just went to bed immediately after .. I quit truck driving couple months later to focus on my health .

I started in april and ive kept it up and ive lost 10 kg, WITHOUT doing any exercise. So that just proves how effective it is. And I'm not starving myself. One meal I often eat is huge lettuce broccoli salads with dressings I make out of kefir, herbs, olive oil, hot sauce, and a little bit of soy sauce. But I also eat a lot of stuff involving various meats and vegetables. Just throw them in the pan with some lard, butter, or coconut oil, throw spices at it, done, and then you can eat it together with hot sauce, avocado oil based mayonaise, or mustard. And I cut out all bad seed oils, I only use lard, coconut oil, and butter for cooking. And olive oil for salads. Getting started feels a little difficult the first few days or the first week or so because the body needs to re-adjust, but then it gets easy. You're WAY less hungry because the body gets what it needs and because insulin isnt spiking up and down. Like, I get to really eat good tasting stuff and actually be healthy, I love it. Oh also, on keto your mind is WAY clearer and you have a LOOOOOT more energy, so cooking feels less of a chore because you're not as sluggish. Just 1 week after keto (or even just 3 days) that was gone. Now I can go ride a bicycle for 5 hours on an empty stomach without having eaten yet and I'm completely fine. The whole point of keto is that it switches which fuel you focus on, so your body wont focus on glucose, and THAT'S what causes the whole blood sugar issue (always needing it and it causing issues). All I eat is meats, vegetables, cheese, nuts, avocados. There's a TON you can eat even if it doesn't sound as such, like 70-80% of ingredients in cooking are still fine.

Lately, I have been testing blood glucose before and after eating certain foods to obtain understanding of which foods cause my body blood glucose spikes and the extent of those spikes. The problem with single stick blood glucose testing is that carb foods can spike the blood glucose rather quickly. So, if you test blood glucose every hour, you can easily miss the spike thinking that such foods really don't cause a blood glucose spike. I have determine how long it takes for certain foods to reach maximum blood glucose levels. So, I test just before eating the food and every 10 minutes around the time I have previously noticed spikes. I am looking into the continuous blood glucose monitors. Before hooking up to one of these testers, I am doing single stick glucose readings to obtain a general idea of which foods I need to test during the continuous blood glucose monitoring so I can get the most infomation possible which will help towards correcting high glucose spikes.

But did increase slowly and steady my fasting times... i can do one meal a day now if necessary.. no spikes.. no fainting anymore. Sugar, Rubish or Carbohydrates are out of my diet completely. You may look for some experienced doctor that can monitor you. This can take time. It took quite a while in my case 1 Year... wich got destroyed very once i started to eat icecreams and pasta again. Now i got rid of it agsin and feeling much better. A big problem is fainting in the car. So.. if you do fasting or sugar abstinence... do it away from driving (if posdible) and have a few cokes, and some sugar in the car ready. I wish you success with this.😊

And yes, he did a test on insulin resistance. And here at home my sugar level continued to be at 50. He prescribed the medicine Acarbose to be taken before a meal and so far, my glucose has improved. I've also been doing calorie restriction to under 2,000 usually 1800 calories per day for the past 20 years. No matter what the only time I burned fat and made ketones was during zone 2 training on an empty stomach after a at least 12 hour fasting time. Otherwise no ketones. FYI, I'm male over 50 very fit lean high muscle mass athletic in general, and weigh about 160 lb at 5'8". I hope you get this message and make a great analytical video on this. thx.

After 7/8 years vegetarian and at times plant based I've started on meat and fish again because of numerous health issues. I've recently been learning about the paleo diet and wanted to try it out so I had a full paleo day today with the exception of a bit of dairy yoghurt and had a really bad hypo episode tonight were my blood sugar was as low as 1.3mmol and I felt dizzy and had a bit of confusion and thinking issues and blurred vision. This is really sad because I wanted to have a good go at low carb paleo because I've heard a lot about it being good for regulating blood sugar but I'm worried now that maybe rushing into it isn't a good idea and it may take time to adjust my body fully and need a transition period. I've been struggling with hypoglycemia for about a year now and my bloods are showing no signs of diabetes and not really anything else for that matter.

I struggle with this when im not eating right. I've cut out added sugars and refined carbs as well as doing intermittent fasting and I dont have this problem at all anymore. Where I used to have to take protein snacks with me everywhere I went, always worried about not getting a "good" meal in. I'd eat decent.. meat and veggies.. but also would have refined carbs and not always checking labels for added sugars in sauces and such.. I'd end up with migraines due to my eating habits, even when they weren't "too bad". Now I strive for OMAD but often have 2 meals a day and no snacking. I never could have even fathomed feeling so good and not worrying about eating and blood sugars and such. So thankful for Dr. Bergs videos. One month of these diet changes and I've lost 15 pounds.

@Drberg I am diabetic and I did IF and ate 2 meals a day for a long time and lost a lot of weight from 75 to 63kg. I was feeling fine until one day I ate keto at lunch and by 4pm I was shaking and almost passed out. I worked out real hard as well lifting heavy weights and doing Cardios almost 5 times a week. I under ate and lost a alot of fat plus emptied my glycogen for fuel. I'm struggling to get past this. Can you please help as I changed to this watching your videos but I guess I did it wrong.

Dr. Berg, my request is to put a translation into Portuguese. Thanks! Would also like to know if the parathyroid can trigger hypoglycemia, diabetes, and other diseases. I also read about methylation. I read that zinc + vitamin d3 + k2 + magnesium gives the body a "UP" and makes it more resistant, potent and healthy. Could you tell if this is real?

I’ve been on keto for over 2 years… Breaking keto about once a month by 1 cheat meal but still low carb/ no refined carbs and almost zero suger. I snack on almonds and macadamia nuts every now and then. Over the past 3 months, I’ve noticed decrease energy levels and during sleep about once a month I’ve been getting cold sweating while sleeping… I don’t know why… my fat intake is much lower now than when I started keto…

So, on Sunday I ate. Low protein meal at church. It was what was offered. I fasted until then and ate a small amount. 3 hours later I felt like I was going to faint and I had 35 for my blood sugar amount. I didn’t feel bad until I felt like I was going to pass out. I cannot eat any carbs anymore. Not even salads. I am currently in a normal BMI and I exercise 3 x per week.

To those of you who understand that carbohydrates are the root cause of most health issues; I wish you the best of luck. I have found that when one takes their health seriously; one will be shunned and isolated by others. Dr.Berg is an absolute blessing; but you should also understand that the path to true health is a rather lonely one. We live in a world that has invested 99% on the carbohydrate train. You see the cliff at the end of the tracks... and you may jump off the train before then... but do not expect the majority of people to listen to you. It is exactly like the "Allegory of the Cave" by Plato. He describes that once one sees the light; you can try to explain it to those remaining in the cave; but they will treat you like a crazy person. Your best bet is to focus on yourself; live a life that is as healthy as possible; and understand that you will likely need to isolate yourself from others for a time in order to take proper care of yourself. We live in a world where people accept heart disease as how they will die. But what if that isn't necessary? What if all of these cardiovascular diseases... are entirely preventable?

@seattlesix9953
@seattlesix9953 Год назад
The functions involved with blood sugar control and usage have become more efficient at maintaining proper levels. D3 is considered a hormone more than a vitamin which regulates (lowering) PTH production in turn making calcium more available. Increase water intake to ensure excess Ca is excreted

Hi doc, I had a recent physical and I need YOUR input on a matter that I’m trying to understand. I’m a 27yo Male and have been on a ketovore diet, (90% fatty meat/10% broccoli, Brussels sprouts and asparagus). My lab results were normal according to my Dr, but he was worried I am hypoglycemic with a fasting blood glucose of 65 and a low insulin level (cannot remember). He said my diet may be causing more stress than benefits and should reintroduce some form of carbohydrates (I haven’t ate a carbohydrate or sugar besides the dark green vegetables in over a month) Should I be worried? I feel great, asymptomatic considering the low blood glucose level. Not the typical symptoms one would theoretically expect. I assume I’m consistently in ketosis, and my understanding is that is what is natural and healthy. My doctor didn’t really have anything to say when I suggested such. What say you?
