Has to be bled and iced right away. And eaten same day. Breadcrumbs parmasan cheese garlic. Under broiler for 5 to 10 minutes. Delicious

Use a salt water brine with ice, so that the fish can firm up right after it's caught

I have a pretty bad case of tendinitis right now as well in my right elbow, I’m at about half strength, and it hurts like hell to jig. I work construction and my joints take a beating but I still think the main cause of it is the hundreds and maybe thousands of jigging motions we do on a weekly basis with this style of fishing. It goes away with time. Once I had it so bad I couldn’t even pick up a glass of water, I actually learn how to fish my left arm for a little while lol.

Well, sorry to hear that you got a case too… but I’m happy it’s not just me! I’ve been trying to fish especially hard this summer… as a teacher, I’m about to lose a lot of my fishing time, so I’m guessing my elbow will recover soon… but not before I give it everything I got this week! For sure, paid parking is one of the primary natural enemies of the kayak fisherman! Fortunately there are free or relatively inexpensive options if you do enough research and looking around!

Grill it whole! As an oily fish it gets a delicious char Frying it just adds oil to an already oily fish

Great session. You’re brave to take jig out weakfish mouth w fingers - they have nasty fangs. I love to make ceviche, makes them firmer…

Haha, yeah, they do have those 2 sharp teeth, but aside from that, it’s not too bad! Thanks for the suggestion… ceviche might be a great application for the meat, especially if it does firm up!

I think it’s only the males that make noise. They used to be pretty rare around here but it looks like they have made a full recovery

I’ve heard that about the males too! Can’t verify personally, but makes sense! I hear you about the scarcity… honestly, I hadn’t caught a weakfish EVER until 2017, and when I did, it was only 12 inches and I nearly did a backflip I was so excited… though that was in Montuak, not the western sound! The populations are definitely starting to rebound!
