It'd be nice if the same thing came to slab OnePlus phones too. The closest I can get is to run the dock thing and open up another app in floating window mode.
I’ve seen a lot of OnePlus open videos in the last day or so. Yours is always on the top of my “want to hear what he thinks” right up there with Mr. Mobile
I waited 5 generations to bite on the Samsung Fold 5. Had it for a touch over 2 months now & I really like it. My only major complaint is the slim front screen. It is annoying to type on sometimes. Also, wish the S pen would go IN the phone & was usable on BOTH the outer & inner displays. I would be real tempted by the Honor Magic V2 because it is so thin when folded & the larger outer display.
Great review! I've never really been a big fan of foldable smartphones, but I'm starting to see some benefits now. The only drawback for me at this stage is the dimensions, I mean the thickness when folded. I hope they can figure out how to strip off the thickness a bit. Otherwise, I think a foldable phone is an interesting option.
@@rhyezkieable I disagree. Technology is constantly improving, and you don't know what different devices are going to look like next year. Foldable smartphones are relatively new, and I'm sure they can improve their design with time, and make them slimmer. I know that today they are what they are, but it's like 2 smartphones stuck together, and I don't think it's very comfortable carrying such thing in your pocket, although I do know some people carry 2 phones or more
Honor V2 is better, much thinner and actually comfortable to hold. Oneplus' software is slightly better but the 2mm thickness still makes too much of a difference
Looks perfect! Only one thing tho... I don't like that when watching something on the internal screen the video is not shown on the whole screen, but it is cropped...
Super tempted to try this. Have not used a One Plus device, so software would be my biggest concern, but it seems like they have created an awesome, well rounded device.
Oxygen OS is crazy good. OP 11 is the best phone I've owned by a country mile. The Open is so tempting but the price point makes me one to stay with OP11
@@IrontodgeOP11 is excellent but the telephoto setup of the Open is tempting... Nevertheless the 11 is a smooth operator with very little flaws. The closest thing to an iPhone 15 Pro Max with a better performing camera setup for stills and superb hardware performance.
From a ZF user. I took a leap of faith. Atleast a year we'll see 2024 .. Definitely bought a year warranty for it though. Multi task bar was my fear. Glad this answers this.
I will highly consider this phone. It appears to be a solid alternative to the Fold. I'm getting tired of Samsung not offering dual physical SIM phones for the US market. I'm getting tired of Samsung's slower charging. I'm mentally preparing to switch to a phone without DEX/stylus. We'll see...
I should also mention, I've been purchasing Samsung's withOUT a US warranty to get the dual physical sim models. There are dual physical sim phones for the US market (Sony...Asus) but they just haven't captured my attention/wallet for the price/features. With Oneplus, NOW I can finally have a dual physical sim phone with a warranty AND I can trade it when I decide it's time to upgrade! My last concern with a new phone is photo and video quality. Oneplus sounds solid and one can always add software enhancements for "better" photos. Also...Oneplus's cameras seem more up to speed with both the telephoto and ultrawide angles offering over 4x more megapixels vs a Fold 5!
Scamsung really suck nowadays they're becoming the next Apple. Fold 4 gonna be my last scamsung purchase ever. I've been using chinese phone since 2017 software differences really are exaggerated, you can purchase this instead of z fold with ease of mind. I really did love them for a long time, what a waste.
finally a good review, this looks good, some other reviewers complained about moving objects when taking photos, have you experienced any issues? especially with hdr
Honestly depends on if there are trade in offers, would love to trade in my fold 3 for this, it seems like the perfect upgrade Alas, £1500 in this economy is rough unless you're absolutely loaded
Sadly it looks like no trade in offers, but I did get £250 off for pre-ordering (and I'll ebay my Pixel to help recover some more of the financial blow)
@@Shadowfax1804im a bit pissed off, the pre order i got, displayed the - Not for your region when i tried to pay the deposit, tried it a few times, same thing, so they can whistle for the £1599 now
I reluctantly pulled the trigger on one even though i think its a bit overpriced. I have a fold 5 and am doubtful this will be able to compete with it but ill will give it a go. Will definitely enjoy the proper sized outer screen that i know for sure.
@vitalyfedorov6713 one plus went back. I liked it but the outer screen is still too small. I need something like the mix fold 3 or honor magic 2 without the chinese roms
Seriously interested but put off by the ghastly green colour, which seems to be the only option from OnePlus UKs site. Could you confirm the rumours that the Oppo Find N2 stylus actually works on this phone, even though the phone doesn't advertise this feature.
Looks good buuut I still like the Honor V2 more. The screens are bigger and its much thinner. I also like the design of the Honor more, but I will give this one a chance after I see more long time reviews. That reminds me, how about doing some after 2-3 month reviews for foldables, seeing as they are a durability concern and you have access to a shjtload of folding phones. That would be bloody perfect
I didn't own a foldable. But I've watched reviews, and have a chance to touch the real things irl. the hardware of those phones (oppo, honor) are 1 generation ahead of samsung, google b'cos of ocmpetition. but hardware itself isn't enough. that's how oneplus come into the picture. I think they really get the point on using a foldable and focus on multitasking the big screen.
I really want to get this phone since I've been getting the Samsung folds ever since the fold two and I eventually got sick of the slim outer screen and never bought them again. Finally we can get a foldable with a good screen and looks like a very decent inner screen as well
I've seen your videos for the oneplus open and the Honor magic v2. Now that you've used both, which would you buy and why? I'm torn between the on paper superior oneplus and the super thin and light V2.
Hi, I'm currently using a Samsung Z fold 4, and it's still in good condition. When I watched this video, I was surprised by the price, if here in Malaysia the price reaches RM 10k. 😅
Already pre-ordered. Samsung is killng the Fold by doing what Apple is doing to iPhone - taking the excitement away by just letting it be still the same and I'm not for that. OnePlus brings so much new to the table so let's see how I'll find it! Very excited for this one. And for having a normal camera...
Why not have 2 devices? I've been using 2 devices for years and will never go back to just 1. You get the different features and have a backup all the time. It makes multitasking a breeze. I'll never understand why people are obsessed with having just one phone. Very strange.
Oneplus have taken a third generation phone from their sister company and made it their own and as such I would hope that the lack of development cost would have reflected in the price and it doesn't.
Been a One Plus user from the original One Plus phone but left them when they lost track of providing timely OS updates, security updates etc. I do think the one Plus open is a good phone but I have been bit too many times by them now. Also, I personally prefer a smaller form factor phone in Galaxy fold.
The screen doesn't hit 2800 nits. It's been tested already by GSMArena and it performs a bit lower than the fold 5 in both Manual and auto mode. Also the front screen doesn't go down to 1 Hz, it only goes down to 10 hz.
Hey, Great video I don't think I could see this on your video but does the OnePlus open have a live photo feature? And I wonder why us in Europe/UK are only getting the Emerald Green and not the Voyager Black 😢
It's not really a bump, it's not really a dip. It's there but it's pretty non-descript. :D Played with the show unit in the store today and it really is pretty legit.
Hi mate, great review. im a fan of oneplus, im with them since the very first one. one question, because when i see a phone like that my thing is, how do lay your phone on a table? screen face down or cameras face down? i know the glass is umbrealble and stuff, but i cant imagine put that phone on a coffe table ahah
I just got a pixel 8. The screen replacement price for these foldable phones has me holding off. I have never cracked a screen...but accidents happen...and i have young kids now that will use my phone.
I was super excited about this phone. I have the pixel fold and the z fold 5 but both seem not quite perfect. Z fold is great software and hardware but the only change i wanted was this or rhe pixel's aspect ratio. Pixel is a great phone and i think better camera software but i dont like the chipset and its missing software features i like from samsung (mainly dex). This phone was hopefully going to be the best of both worlds. Flagship camera. Big battery with fast charging and hopefully some great software. This is already the 3rd review ive watch and while it looks great it's just missing too much to say its the best. The camera hardware is better but sofware so far looks like its not better at processing than either the zfold or the pixel. And it has no wireless charging, no dex, ans only ipx4 vs ipx8 for the other 2. And cost is onlu 100 dollars less. And to top it off they arent offering trade in discounts for either the pixel fold or the fold 5. Soo i guess I'll hold on to what I have and hopefully samsung makes the fold 6 closer to this aspect ratio
how has the display been holding up on your folds phones? I've been inclined to pick one up but I keep seeing people pop up out of the blue saying they have dead pixels in the fold within the first few months of owning them (Marques had them within 3 weeks of owning his oneplus) and I am just afraid thats going to end up happening to me
It seems the black colour variant is now available on the UK OnePlus website ? I thought they said only the Emerald Green was the only option. Great though, never really understood why we were only offered the one colour choice.
It's a beautiful foldable. A bit too expensive though. With a price of €1799 in Europe. Still getting it because of the pre-order bonus of a discount of €250.
@@fallinginthed33p Bonus is gone now for is in Europe the early bird period ended. I've already ordered but for new orders you'll loose that discount now
Could you do word processing with this where, when unfolded, one half of the screen acts as a keypad and the other the screen; in much the same way that a laptop would work?
I did have a Samsung Fold 4, but I wouldn't buy another one, they are just too expensive and as it happened it went faulty, so I've had to get another phone while that one was repaired. I'm quite happy with the Red Magic 8s pro which I have now.
