Onewheel GT: IS IT WATERPROOF? Official Badger Assessment

I just badgered my onewheel, after about a year of owning it, riding through everything. It's survived so far, but it's such a relief to get it badgered. When i took it apart i realized how badly the seals were put in place. So it's kind of a miracle that it hasn't bricked yet.

great vid! really clear camera and i can see everything. is there by chance a video of badgering the pint x? like a step by step tutorial on how to badger the wheel? i searched in your channel and didn't find one. i know there are photo and written instructions on your website, and i am really interested in purchasing your product, a video does really help to visualize the process and have more confidence in working on badgering the board. i am sure a lot of peeps would be glad to see a video how to from badger/you guys directly and will help with sales! thanks for doing what you do! :3

Knowing what I know now about silicon, I'd never use it to try and seal my OW. I'd strongly recommend a polyurethane (Like Sikaflex or Dicor) to anyone doing this. Silicon will harden over time and can't expand and contract very well, and vibration will cause it to sheer/pull away from flat, unroughened surfaces. An elastomer has surface adhesion levels almost unmatched, and stay supple over time to absorb bumps, vibrations and expand a lot with part movement. It's also cleaned more easily than silicon, which fouls the surface and makes re-applications fail at a high rate. Would love to see Badger kits upgraded!

I don't think the lawyers of any commercial product will allow the term "waterproof", no? There are only varying degree of water resistance. I really appreciate knowing how the GT compares with the XR in terms of water resistance! I was always careful with the XR, it would be nice to worry less in the PNW.

Wow… Could there possibly be a worse place for water to get in? That’s directly where water would end up and it goes straight into the fragile part of the controller!

Did you have to removed the battery or disconnect it? - I see from Luis Ross an and Leonard French that bricks the GT

Would putting silicone around the connector void the warranty? You don't have to open up the controller at all, but FM seems so trigger happy to declare someone's warranty as void due to "modification".
