OneWheel Pint X vs Electric Skateboard. In this video we're putting the OneWheel Pint X head to head with an electric skateboard. In this video we're using a Possway T3 in our comparison. Overall we're fans of both the OneWheel Pint X and the Possway T3 but lean towards the electric skateboard mainly due to cost and our lack of need to take an EV off-road. The OneWheel Pint X is incredibly fun and versatile but the cost is just too hard for us to justify vs a $500 electric skateboard.

I'm 46, and I ride a GT everyday since I've gotten it. I never rode a onewheel before that time. I've eaten it about 10 times, broken a pinky. But I love it, and as I ride more, I get more familiar, etc. But yeah man, I get it. I'll get going ~15 miles / hr + on a smooth road ... then it sets in ... "this could get pretty bad you know" LOLOLOL!

That was a really good review. I have two esk8's and a one wheel . And to be honest don't grab the one wheel much at all . For around $1300 US you can buy some incredible boards that solve most of the problems you have with the posway . Interchangeable wheels that can turn your board from street to semi off road in 10 minutes flat . And range of around 30 miles . Good brands include Exway,Meepo, woogo,Tynee backfire . Just to name a few . With most of them offering boards from 400 US to 2000 US Dollars . So much fun riding PEV it really doesn't matter what you choose they are all great to get out and ride .

I’ve been a long boarder for 15 years, and just bought a one wheel and so far I’m loving it. As a longboarder falling doesn’t scare me much, because something dumb like a pebble can take me out. I also bought a Fangs 2.0 fender for the front of the one wheel so I hope that in a mechanical failure situation that’ll give the nose something to roll on so I have a fighting chance. But I agree with you on almost everything, great video

Appreciate your honesty in the review. Decent points made and I can understand your perspective. But honest opinion, 100 miles is not a lot of experience. I also was not comfortable at cruising at the 15-16mph mark on my OneWheel XR at first, and it takes time to get there, and you are also doing it on a smaller device (Pint X), which probably adds to the discomfort. I hope you stick with it a little longer before you trade it in. The learning curve may be steeper on the OneWheel, but the curve most definitely does not stop at the 100 mi mark for the vast majority of riders. I'm over 18,000 miles on my XR and I would say that I didn't really plateau until around 4k miles in. As they say, it is all about the ABCs (Always Be Carving). After so much riding, to me a comfortable OneWheel rider is person whose legs have the experience to feel surge and push back, and to safely brush up against them to safely ride in confidence without crashing. Surge is like push back but can happen at low speeds in response to hills and bumps. Push back happens at specific speeds (15-16 mph). So a comfortable OneWheel rider will know they are safely riding at max speed because they can feel the board starting to surge. So the rider not only moves the board side to side in the carving motion, but they will also be bending and straightening their legs to carving into and out of feeling a little push back. (Do not lean to accelerate or decelerate.) No amount of understanding can help with this. Even though I fully understand this, I don't ride switch enough to comfortably do it the other direction at top speed. Only thing that helps with increasing the feeling of comfort is to regularly practice it. So I highly encourage you to stick with it, and try to push yourself to the point where controlling the board is effortless and you truly feel like one with the machine.

I sold my pint for eskate. I don't regret it one second. For a smaller price my eskate goes faster, accelerate harder, is way (way) lighter, and has two or three time the range. But I wasn't a skater before, so it took me long time to be OK on it, especially at speed. In the end the onewheel was a good beginner board for me. After that beginner phase it was too slow and bulky for city ride.

After about 100-150 miles on my onewheel, the tire finally broke in and I havent had any major spills since. There are times where the board will try to slip out from under you trying to get up small 2-3inch bumps, but its usually lower speeds while maneuvering on rough street terrain. (uneven driveway/sidewalk connections)

Interesting take on the subject. I avoided an esk8 for close to 7 years b/c of the lack of manueverability. This was when the Boosted board was the only thing available and more of a fad. Many went on to be sold in the open market when people realized it wasn't for them - same as the DJI Mavic Pro when it came out. Just a tool toy people wanted to justify to use in their actual lives only to realize that wasn't really the case. I had always had ebikes but with the new stuff on the market, I bought a couple more and now finally going into esk8. Should be interesting. I realize it's a lot less practical and 100% for fun either by myself or with kids while they ride their bikes.

I have boosted v2 with extended range. Been riding it for 6 years now and it still rides as new , climbs any hills and braking is super reliable. I can stop on incline with ease too . That's important for safety. I was debating about onewheel a lot but to me it doesn't make sense - the speed and acceleration is gonna be a downgrade , the safety definitely too, also the weight and carry convenience boosted is about 12ish pounds, which is not bad compared to 35lb GT model. Maybe more fun, and more monuverable but for A to B getting safely boosted wins all day.

The skateboards are inherently stable and you can actually go 1 mph or slower and just be standing there rolling along. This is good if you're on a walking path with pedestrians. It's also much easier to pick up and carry a skateboard and it's thinner and easier to stash in a locker or under a desk. My skateboard cost $560, goes 29 mph and has a real world 14 mile range. Plus the skateboard just feels awesome carving.

Geography is a thing. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we have hills and bumps and rain. The OneWheel is the jam. Had a bad spill on day one. Rode 200 miles since. No issues and no crashes. Once you get used to it and take it easy 10-15mph , then you’re good. Always wear a helmet and knee pads.

Tbh I been skateboarding for like 8 years . I got my Onewheel like a year ago . I would not go back to longboard now after getting used to Onewheel . Cruising feels better and relaxing . I’m a speed demon and yes I’ve fallen several times in the beginning. But I’m always able to run out a nosedive specially because I have the regular pint which isn’t as fast so my legs can keep up with its speed . Honestly the onewheel is more of a tool too . When my car broke down this Onewheel would take me to my job and back and no worries for gas or insurance

Great Comparison! I subbed and liked! I had a OneWheel Pint and I did enjoy it. Once past the learning curve, it is super fun. Over time I felt it was a little underpowered though, so I have recently sold it. I was really planning on maybe getting a e Longboard that has some off-road capabilities. I didn't know if you had any suggestions or other videos with some discussion around a little more of an all-terrain Eboard.

Skateboards with all train tires can ride on road and off road allot off people ride them only on road. The choice is basically do you want specs (e-skateboard) or ride feel (onewheel). I hope some other companies are gonna make onewheels so they get some competition and lower there price and future motion should improve there savety I’ve seen so many vids off onewheels ghosting that is so dangerous.

As a mechanically-inclined individual: I shudder to think about Future Motion's horrible warranty policy and their predatory business practices. (e.g., FM is currently suing just about EVERYONE that makes accessories for the OneWheel - But notably: JW Batteries & Chi Battery Systems.) No thanks. The discussion around the OneWheel, in regards to safety, seems to boil down to proponents knowing it's dangerous, but that you just gotta git gud to not get badly injured. Furthermore, the more I research, the more I seem to find a similar sentiment among OneWheel riders: OneWheels have a lot of flaws, and a lot of downsides, but they're fun. Again, "git gud and you can overcome them." Additionally, even the OneWheel pros and affiliated businesses/accessory makers/influencers seem to kinda skirt around their complaints about the company, or talk about how "y'know, they'll figure it out" or "it'll be better once (update/custom profile/community mod/etc.) comes out." In their first try videos for the GT, a lot of people are like "yeah, I dunno..." It looks like just a lot of people that aren't exactly being totally honest. Surprise, that's paid/partner content for you, but they still can't seem to help shitting on it. And I get it, the board is obviously very fun to ride, the problem is it's just got a lot of what I consider to be design flaws (also business practice flaws) that fans seem to struggle to reconcile. And so the paying user base, Instead of being really honest and saying "yeah, the board has some big issues, and there's a lot of things they could do better, but I do love the experience of riding it, it's FUN", just go "yeah, man, you just gotta ride more, y'know? After about five thousand miles you'll really have the hang of it. Yeah, you're probably gonna fall and get badly injured, but you'll learn, y'know?" They make it a user problem, not a product problem. That's a mistake. That's how you end up with next year's products being worse than last year's. You gotta hold these companies accountable. Especially any kind of small tech startup. They're the worst offenders. I just don't think I can bring myself to buy one. The company strikes me as doing some profiteering due to a lack of competition + branding, and this anti-repair anti-mod proprietary bullshit is enough to stop me from buying any product. Any tech company should know that proprietary is a curse word, and is anthetical to being a tech lover. Proprietary tech exists for maximizing profit, that is all. We are being milked.

It would be nice if people would stop confusing Right to Repair with the right to modify/repair. It’s a fine line and it always seems to go the route of believing they are forcing this anti-repair. How about bringing light to the nefarious lawyers chasing down big money from a small company. FM is not a multi-national conglomerate its like something around 70 people. The popularity of their product is worldwide that doesn’t always translate to a company opening Giga Factories like Tesla or having Amazon Free Prime shipping available to them. People need to settle down with their instant gratification syndrome. I’m all on board for right to repair. Problem is this is also an open ended liability risk when people are allowed to modify and then blame the manufacture. The product has a warranty and if there are issues FM has been doing the right thing to the best of their ability. Again, keeping in mind that instantaneous resolve is not really reality. Do they need more repair centers? Probably, but that begs the question of if there are enough repair centers with enough business to become authorized repair centers. Order parts and keep on hand only to have the resources sit there and not be leveraged. I’m just pointing out possible situations not saying its a definite. I say this not from the point of repair shops not being able to make this possible but when a repair/mode is done and things go south who hold$ the liability when again the lawyers/nefarious/fraudulent people take to law suits. Also in the world of Just-In-Time-Inventory controls most if not all manufacturing is part of an elaborate inventory control to not get over burdened by to many parts. Once demand is met then the analysis of what breaks can take place and those items are then kept in stock or made available. I think that having the ability to communicate all the ups and downs in a video is amazing. I think also many don’t realize that talking about something does not mean it can be remedied in the same amount of time it to discuss all those things in a video. The reality is all of these things are far more complex than can be quantified into actual reality than meets people’s expectations. Expectations are very much askew but no one wants to discuss that reality. Great review and awesome production quality by the way.
