But at the same time, I myself would never even consider being with someone who I don't plan on getting married to. Marriage is important for many people like myself, and that should be respected too.
@@KuromiLaBella well I know that. But retsuko and Tadano have different opinions on marriage. I was just referring to that some people prefer marriage and some don't. I was being on Tadano's side but I respect retsuko's wishes.
I love that they had the chance to make Tadano a literal jackass exboyfriend, but instead he's just the chillest guy imaginable, who sincerely wants to be a good friend to everyone involved even though he clearly still has feelings for Retsy.
When the arm wrestling scene came up, I was shouting "Nooo haida don't! Tadano's built like a twig" 💀 but DAMN when the man reversed it, I was suddenly shouting "My bad Tadano's built like a TREE"
He's a donkey, donkey's are known for being surprisingly deadly af and really good protective animals to have in a farm because they will body coyotes, wild dogs, snakes, foxes, and pretty much anything that fucks with them. Eta: They're related to Zebra's and Zebras fuck up lions and hyenas who get to close them and are even considered more dangerous and aggressive to handle so...
@@cgecko3 Haida is a literal hyena. Even then, they're all cartoon animals so i'm pretty sure the real life counterparts have no bearing on their physical strengths. If that were the case, haida would've eaten ton by now.

When Tadano said "I hope to always be with you" he was not only referring as a couple but also as a good friend. This certainly makes him one of the best characters. i love him
Tadano is seems to be the nicest guy of the series and very gentle. Hyda is such a mess and getting lack of rational reason. That's why Tadano warned Hyda about his true opponent.
Haida is more realistic, in that sense. Tadano is a romanticized ideal, he’s it real. We all want to be Tadano, but we’re all just Haida in our own little ways.
@@ohgodwhy6640 He was a good-decent character in S1-3 and his chemistry with other characters is good (except Retsuko), that's why I cannot consider him as a Bottom tier character. I would put him as the last character in A tier after season 4 (on a serious tier list).

Haida is the self proclaimed "nice guy" while Tadano is the actual kind, and empathetic / 'nice' guy. Tadano has always respected Retsuko by seeing her whole humanity not putting her on a pedestal. I hope they're endgame
Even though he told her he thought marriage was pointless, he was still so great to her and cared about her. I feel like had she been patient she probably would have changed his mind because he’s such a good, genuine soul. And even after all that he was still there for her when she needed him, lifting her up and encouraging her... 😅
Part of me says yes. But all Tadano shows in the S2 finale is that He is not on the same page about Marriage and Kids. And since he only continued to defend his choices. He didn't appear as though he wanted to change things
I don't think that's a healthy way of living though. When you already have a future you're thinking of and you really look forward to that way of life, there's no point in being with someone who doesn't want or value the same thing. Especially if it's something as important as marriage. They're both in their rights to want/not want a marriage. I think it was handled well ngl.
A deal breaker is a deal breaker, it's better she was honest with him and their different views than sticking together. If a couple tried to move forward without being on the same page about huge stuff like this, it won't matter how great the relationship was once those big differences start rising. Tadano is 👌👌👌 but Retsuko definitely did the fair and right thing by sticking by what she wants despite all he gave.
Yeah I think they make good friends. I don’t think someone should stay in a relationship with the hopes of “changing their minds”. For example kids: I’ve heard many women say they don’t want kids. Someone said they’ll change their mind when they’re older and married. And then they get married and still don’t want kids lol. In fact I think breaking up in real life would theoretically help him think through his philosophy on marriage. He’s entitled to whatever he wants in the end but if he really wants to get back with her, he has to consider it.
I think “marriage” disagreement was more of a metaphor for many other small, almost insignificant, things they would disagree on in the future. Being good people and having good chemistry just isn’t enough sometimes.
I think the Japanese version said it differently but either way. I love how Tadano basically said you can't beat me, not like this. Meaning Tadano knows he has better cards in his hands than haida. He could easily win back Resty and yet he chooses to be respectful, I don't doubt that Resty doesn't still miss being with Tadano

Retsuko and Haida provide something Tadano is missing in his life: Challenge. Not the full-on antagonistic kind, but more like friends who help you overcome your own shortcomings. Tadano excels in business matters, but in a more personal or social sphere, he has A LOT of room to grow. He needs them to tell him 'no, that's not the only reason/means to do things' or 'have you ever considered...' And he gives back to those friendships in his own way.
Yes! Thank you! Finally a reasonable comment on Tadano! I love his charecter but everyone is hailing him as the perfect match for Rensuko because he would have given her the opportunity to laze around all day(I mean he was sweet to her and does genuinely care for her) but she needs more than that; she needs someone who has her back,who will support her hobbies and career choices!
I honestly hate haida! I fucking loved this scene so much, Tadano has so much respect and doesnt want to change her and just ugh ALL THAT TO KEEP CALLING HER RETSY
He was critically underutilized as a character in Season 5. I missed him so much, and we got three scenes. He did pull though for Retsuko and Haida though.
Season 4 isn’t as solid as the previous 3 in my opinion, but I appreciate how they’re continuing Haida and Tadano’s friendship. They’re just such a great pair. The different character dynamics is probably the strongest element the season offered: - Haida & Tadano (mentioned above) - Retsuko & Manaka - Fenneko & Tsunoda - Ton and Tsubone (never thought I finally felt for them) - Himuro & Washimi - Haida and Himuro - Retsuko and Hyodo 😂 - Haida and Anai 😂 - Fenneko & Haida - Retsuko & Tadano (❤️🩹) - Haida & Inui (❤️🩹)
There is one point in season 4 that I thought a page was missing. The part where Haida finally steps in Retsuko's house, I thought after that is a daydream episode. Turns out there's a missing "build up" in this spot.
Haida is a hot mess in Season 4 I got so much second hand embarrassment from him 😭 it was so hard to watch the show because of this. I think the show is just gonna keep continuing with Haida's and Retsuko's relationship tbh

Tadano has and will always be my favourite character. I feel like I can relate to him in a few ways in terms of his personality. Keeps to himself, sleeps a lot and loves anything to do with technology. He’s just an overall great character.

@@tunedude19 Exactly! Retsy should've waited a bit longer, at least get to know the guy a bit more first. Maybe she could've asked WHY he doesn't want marriage or kids when he said no? I'm genuinely interested and it bugs me to no end the writers missed that chance. I didn't even fully expect them to stay together after that, but the didn't she just ask? If it were me I would've.
I think Tadano and Retsuko would have made a great pair _if_ Retsuko didn't try to live up to societal expectations all. The. Time! Retsuko has a really tough time of letting go of traditional standards but she seems oblivious to the fact that she is anything but an average girl... I also think Tadano could have been persuaded by Retsuko if she had explained to him how important marriage and family are to her. He is the kind of guy that keeps an open mind, he just doesn't understand why people get married if they are already devoted to each other. He would have moved out of his limo eventually and without complaint for sure. I just know it. 😊I think the real reason why Retsuko rejected him is because Tadano is so far above anyone else. She probably feels she can't keep up with him and is far too ordinary for him. Ton more or less hinted towards this when they talked, thereby confirming Retsuko's idea that Tadano is too far above people with an ordinary job and a normal mindset.

The Muskrat got all his money from his daddy, hires better and smarter people than him to do the actual heavy lifting, Muskrat then takes all the credit for the work like a selfish child. Yeah well I couldn't let him beat me right. Yes I respect the whole friendship arc....but I suspect that he wants her back but he ain't gonna fight dirty, he's been very respectful and hasn't done anything shady and he ain't trying to get in between them, he just wishes to stay with her, even if it's just as a supportive good friend to her. i totally get retsuko and tadano having different paths in mind for marriage and them breaking up, but that being said, haida should have been treating retsy with a little bit more love. retsuko had the tendency to hide stuff because she didn't want to concern others. haida always complained that she didn't share her true feelings with her friends. he was hiding HIS feelings for 5 years until he confessed. it seemed like this confession meant he was tearing down his walls, in order to inspire her to do the same. but nope. when she actually goes forward with haida, instead of hiding her own feelings for HIM, all of a sudden he tells LIES to get out of going out together, and then to also hide the fact he was evicted. "you became the very thing you swore to destroy," after literally saving her life, and they knew each other for all that time. then, she has to financially support haida until he's back on his feet, and we don't get to SEE him get back on his feet with a good job that suits him! that is messed up
I remember when people thought Tadano was going to be this super manipulative, controlling playboy who avoids marriage so he can just dump Aggretsuko when he gets bored--- Jokes on them :,D Like, its natural that some people felt that way-- some of them were just projecting their own experiances on Tadano, but He and Aggretsuko broke off because of differences in lifestyle and haaveing wants for themselvs that were incompatible, not because Aggretsuko realized he was secretly a bad person. I think if they'd meant for him to be read that way, they would have ended the relationship on that note, not a bittersweet disagreement on lifestyle.
I ship haidano so I'm kinda happy tadano x retsuko didn't last 😅 Although I agree with most of the comments that tadano was a better partner. But I guess it's not all that bad since retsuko didn't end up with haida either, who I agree was definetly not a great match for retsy.
So theory: my theory is that Tadano is bisexual or at least part of the LGBTQ. In Japan gay marriage haven't been legalized yet . This MIGHT be one of the reasons he considers marriage pointless.

I’ve been watching retsuko from season one all the way to the series finale. Although I’m sad him and retsuko broke up, I’m really happy that they maintain a healthy friendship, and that he was supportive of her and Haida.
