OP-1 and Clouds: Ambient (or big?) Chords - a Playtest on Sunday :-)

Hello my friends. Had some fun with the Teenage Engineering OP-1 and Mutable Instruments Clouds today. Just wanna share this little quick and dirty Playtest with you! :-)
Hope you like it. If so, dont forget to leave that Like! And also: Tell me if this sounds like Ambient for you ;-) I dont think so, really - but what is it? A big Pad? Lush Chords? Anyway - need to practice more! :-)

For those of you who want more Detail: On Clouds, the Stereo Spread is turned to 100% and the Reverb is also maxed out! The Parameters on the front can probably not be seen that good (crappy Video Quality), so: The Position is set all the way to the left (to get the most possible direct Signal), Size and Texture are set all the way to the right (to smear the Grains as much as possible) and the Density is almost to the far right (to get a lot of random Grains, but to prevent "overshoot"). On the OP-1, a Stock Preset is used (Pizzicato). It uses the Pulse Engine and is played on a lower Octave. Cheers! :-)

How do you send the signal to cloud? You go straight from OP1 Out to Clouds IN?

This could be the start of an ambient track. Obviously ambient is more than just playing a few chords with a pad sound... there is arrangement, orchestration, and progression to lead you on a sonic journey, just like in any other style of music. Really, the main difference is the rate of change and the lack or de-emphasis of a rhythmic element. Or at least that's a simplified summary for a RU-vid comment! ;)

Hehe, its certainly not an Ambient Track, for sure. Its only a Pad :-) And its about that Pad. I think it doesnt sound very ambient'ish; its too big, isnt it?! Think i should filter it down a little, make it mid-heavy. Lots of Ambient Music has Drones in the Background as well; that requires Mod-Sources for Clouds though. Which i dont have (yet). Should i make a pure Ambient Track one day? I did something like this with the Analog Rytm once, but in a classic Pattern oriented Workflow - Ambient is a bit nasty, because you need so much space and Time for these evolving Textures ... i could imagine doing this in Live. But who wants to watch an Ableton Live Arrangement?! ;-)
