@@BrokebackBob narrow angle is a different cookie to crack. Most people with narrow angle require a laser treatment called an LPI to create an extra drainage Avenue through the iris to prevent angle closure and high eye pressures. Oftentimes early cataract surgery can solve this issue as well.

When I was first suspected with glaucoma, I feel my life is changed. It was a very down time. I then went to see specialist and was told having high risk but not yet develop it. I hope, really hope, there will be a way to reverse and regenerate the dead optic nerve. I hope everyone with such disease, can be treated efficiently.

I was diagnosed with glaucoma a few months ago. My pressures were 26 and 27. I was put on Xylanatan, and the pressure is 21 and 20. I have been offered laser, and am due for my next appointment, where I will decide what to do. Although the diagnosis has changed my life, I am glad that there are treatment that can save my vision.

In late March I had a marathon 7 hours where the surgeon did EVERYTHING in BOTH eyes: 1. Cataract surgery--regular lenses. 2. Small stents for glaucoma in both eyes. 3. Removed mesh work in both eyes. 4. A big drainage pipe in the right eye. I can see all the way to China now. No more bifocal progression lenses, no more correction lenses. I got 20/20 now, where I used to have 20/950. No more eyeglasses! I got pressure down to 11 and 10 in my eyes. I am still on post-op drops, but it is amazing to have normal eye pressure as that will arrest the deterioration of my optic nerve dramatically whether I have to continue some drops--or not. I have never had any surgery before of any kind. This is a phenomenal result, and I am very grateful.

For me glaucoma is like college because you have to work hard to keep your eyesight my doing the homework your glaucoma specialist gives you meaning taking your eye drops and the coming to the doctor for medical care. In college you have to work hard and do your work and come to class so you don't fail. With collagen glaucoma if you don't do your homework or come to your appointments, you are going to fail losing your eyesight and your education!

My favorite glaucoma treatment are the drops because that is non-evasive. I was told, today, that I had open angle glaucoma and they want to have some kind of laser surgery. No one mentioned that there were drops for lowering the pressure in the eyes. I will talk to the ophthalmologist about using drops as a first resort when I see him next week.

Exactly I was discovered with glaucoma few months back it's been almost a year & when I got told about it after the x-ray they told me I might need surgery but never mentioned me I could take any sort of eye drops but I will ask to knowing surgery can be a risk
@my3dviews
@my3dviews Год назад
The first thing that they did for me was to give me eye drops at the hospital to lower the pressure. They also gave me a prescription for eye drops to take twice a day. Next they did the laser thing to lower the pressure, while still on eye drops. Go back next week to find out how it worked (or didn't work). If it didn't then I might need eye surgery. Hope to avoid that if possible.

Excellent presentation. I recommend this video as the first introduction to Glaucoma treatment options. I have used prostaglandins for many years. Each time I change eye doctors they put me on different drops. I am now on Rhopresa and Lumigan drops at night. They do lower my pressure. Now a new eye doctor is pushing SLT treatment. In the past I had tried Latanoprost which did not work though it was cheaper than Lumigan. Also tried Alphagan 3 times a day with Lumigan and it worked but was too difficult to manage the eye drop routine.

@@joanneramsey7723 ended up getting a Trabeculectomy done in both eyes. Right eye first and left eye 2 months later. You can’t even tell I had the surgery. My eye pressure before surgery were both in the low 30’s. Because of Covid and not knowing if and when the surgeon would get an other chance they did them both close to each other in time. But I had massive multiple vision. Example when I looked up at the moon I would see like 9 of them. The way my Dr. describe it to me is a balloon over inflated and now is under inflated and the back of my eye was all crinkled making me see multiple. Been about 2.5 years since both eyes were done. Currently eye pressures at sitting at 9 and 8. I can still see, but one eye is not the best. However, my eye dr said if I did not get the surgery when I did they would have pulled my drivers license. I can work and still drive just took about a year to feel comfortable enough to get back to normal.

Just a comment about brimonidine. Using these eye drops caused a decrease in my blood pressure of about 30 numbers(?). For instance,if my bp was 150/76 the medication would lower it to 120/60 (which was great - but if my bp was 120/68 the medication would lower it to 90/56). Unfortunately, it wasn't effective in lowering my IOP and medication had to be changed. Dr. is still working on trying to find an effective med. The "expensive one" is the next option. And I nearly fell off my chair when $400 was mentioned, Working with my insurance co. for an affordable price. Thanks for the information which you give us. It's most helpful.

When you talk about pigment , do you mean pale eyes? . I’ve had laser, have very pale blue eyes. After two weeks the Specialist said it hadn’t worked - which I felt was a big early, and put me back on drops. I have low pressure glaucoma. 17 one eye 18 the other. The doctor wants it down to 14.

3:51 Sounds like it could be a Kim Carnes song: “Stanley Kubrick Eyes.” A ton of information all in one video. No doc has told me about surgery, other than do discourage it because they personally didn’t like it. Well done.

I deeply resent that I wasn't warned about the loss of periorbital loss of fat with prostaglandin eyedrops. My eyes are all sunken in, and I look like a zombie. And watch out for the eyedrops with preservatives. They'll cause corneal erosion.

Unfortunately we have experienced abusive treatment at our local hospital eye care clinic as post op. treatment for Trabeculoctomy. This feels dehumanising and leaves us with no faith in the public health care system in Australia. Ironic as stress is also a cause for high eye pressure and high blood pressure in general.

I was diagnosed with OAG 15 years ago. The doctor who diagnosed me said my pressure was 30 and gave me some eye drops to take. He told me to come back in two weeks. For 2 weeks I was terrified as I dropped the meds in. I returned to him and was asking questions about his diagnosis. He suddenly said, "I didn't tell you have glaucoma ". As soon as I left his office I called a second doctor. He told me I did have glaucoma and to continue the medication. A few years later of seeing him he questioned my need of the medication. I went to a new doctor. He checked me over and said you need the medication. Fast forward he stopped my medication. For a year I didn't take any. He retires and a new doctor came in. He looks at my eyes says you need the medication and you have some mild damage to the nerve cup. All of the stopping and starting again has messed up my routine and it broke my habit. Now I have issues with remembering my meds because I'm a out of sight out of mind type of person. Now I'm fixing to have SLT on Monday. I'm nervous , but I'm ready for it.

I wish I saw your video 5 or 10 years ago. I do didn't know anything about Glacoma now my eyes are. Advanced damage. I hope all who has Glacoma understand ...... Pressure that is over the limit your optic nerve can handle will slowly damage your nerve, it must be kept under the damage point at all times

Thank you, thank you, thank you for all yours content, especially glaucoma connected. I have higher eye preasure, but mine doctor still not confirm is it glaucoma . I use Taptikom (tafluprost/timilol) at night and twice a day Luxfen (brimonidine tartrate). Are they safe to be used in pregnancy? I am planning to get pregnant soon, and i am really scared about those kind of medication . Which kind of eye drobs are OK for pregnancy?

Brimondine is clasifeid as pregnancy catagory B (which is considered safe) but honestly the laser trabeculoplasty is my favorite for pregnancy. However, best to talk to your personal eye doc about your current health conditions and options. Very happy you like the videos and please let me know if there are any other topics you would like for me to cover.

In England we don't pay for treatment but saying that there is a long wait to be seen. My optician referred me to the eye hospital because the pressure was high in my left eye and it took a year before they could see me I know these are difficult times but by the time I was seen the pressure in that eye was 36 and damage had been done although my sight is still good in that eye I wish I had gone to a private hospital and payed and probably would have been seen in a week or 2. I am now on Latanoprost

Thank you for this in debt video. My doctor proscribed me dorzolamide twice a day, which I do take every day. My eye pressure then is usually at 17 mmHg. But around every 6 months a new glaucoma builds in my eye, which has been treated so far with a syringe of cortisol into my eye. Which gets rid of the glaucoma temporally about 6 months. I am looking for a more permanent solution, because frankly that syringe sucks and my doctor does not offer any alternatives. If you have more thoughts on the matter, I'll be happy to hear it. Cheers and thanks again 🙏🏾

Treatments I have heard of? Well I have had a Lazer treatment on both of my eyes that didn't drop the pressure enough. I was put on Zioptan and it did well for about 9 months. I was put on Rocklatan and had a horrible reaction, really itchy eyes. So I am now back on Zioptan and timolol. Hopefully when I go back for a pressure check this is working.

I was just diagnosed a couple days ago. I am still shocked by the news because I am still young-ish (45). I feel like I'm in some kind of grieving process, because my life is going to be forever changed by this. I have been prescribed FOUR different drops I have to take. How does one adapt to this? I am terrified and quite upset over this. I do not want to take Latanoprost. I have beautiful green eyes and nice thick tissue (fat) around my eyes, which has always made me look younger than I am. Now I run the risk of ending up with brown eyes and having sunken in eyes, where I'll end up looking like an old zombie.

Hii Doctor, I recently had an eye checkup and my eye pressure was 23. By using eye drops regularly for one month my pressure has decreased to 21, the doctor advised to continue using drops to further lower pressure. The doctor said I don’t have glaucoma as my optic nerve is pretty healthy. What do you think about this? Kindly reply

Hi Doctor, I had a laser treatment on my eye for diabetes and two days later when I woke up I wasn't able to see for about 10 min and my eye started to feel irritated and had headaches, so I called retnal specialist and went to see him the next day and said my pressure was super high 45 (I have never heard or new anything about pressure in the eyes) and after a month of trying to lower the pressure with drops and wasn't able to. he referred me to a glaucoma specialist which tgey had to perform a emergency surgery..and thank to the doctor that did the first laser now my life changed, haven't been able to drive or see well and soon I will need another surgery because my body is rejecting the valve and my pressure is way high again😭😭

Doctor Eye Health good morning doctor yes I’m getting treatment, first I didn’t believe then I went to another eye doctor and he said the same thing, I went to my eye doctor yesterday he changed my eye drops from Brimonidine to Travatan, but this morning my eyes was super red and puffy, I think the Brimonidine was better, but I was complaining about it🧐 I don’t like the side effects, in a month he going to tell me if I should have laser surgery, I remember my uncle in Brasil didn’t believe that he had glaucoma and refused to get treated and later on he got blind. God Bless.🙏
