A good few years ago I was afraid that Disney would use the MCU and Star Wars to dominate/suffocate the film industry just indefinitely. I'm happy we've avoided that timeline.

Shoutout to the guy shouting out One Piece. Definitely a commitment to read (though is still much faster than watching), but it is probably one of the best stories of our time, even over Wheel of Time, which is tough for me to admit. It's not flawless, but i'd say it's worth the time investment by far. Added bonus, the One Piece youtube sphere is full of some awesome people, and could make for some great collabs down the road.

The superhero is not the suit. It is not a mantle to be exchanged with another. It is the character that first inhabited the suit. Falcon will NEVER be Captain America to me; Captain America IS Steve Rogers. Ironheart will NEVER be a replacement for Iron Man; Iron Man IS Tony Stark. Black Widow IS Natasha Romanoff and she permanently died on Vormir and absolutely cannot be replaced by some blonde discount replacement. Spider-Man is Peter Parker. Miles Morales is just Miles Morales, not Spider-Man. Same goes for any other character they try to create a replacement for. Woke or not, I will not support these replacements. Give us the originals, not these knockoff fakes.

On the discussion on videogame adaptations around 30:00, I think that it's a difficult juggle that needs to happen: make it different to adapt to the different medium but not as different as to lose the essence of the characters and the story and the background mythos, then make the characters clear and compelling, make the story work with the characters, get enough capital to finance the movie in order to make justice to such story. It's not going to be the same as experiencing a game but that's not what we fans are looking for as much as a comic book fan isn't expecting the same experience when they started to make good comic book movies; the same principles apply, and it's a perfect storm of good stuff that needs to happen in order for the adaptations to work.

Marvel peaked at civil war. Ragnarok, and Guardians 2 were fun but formulaic. And infinity war and endgame should have been the end of it. To quote Bane, “victory has defeated you” Disney was so assured of their success that they greenlit shit, and rather than taking a hiatus to plan for what comes next, they pumped out material in phase 4 than the previous 3 phases combined. The DCEU was always a shallow cashin on marvel’s success. It’s been a day late and a dollar short for years now. They didnt even have the balls to own Snyder’s signature brooding tone, potentially refining it into something of its own, no they decided to try and steal the quippy dialogue, cheerier atmosphere and tone deaf jokes that plagued the mcu post civil war. What goes up must come down, Seinfeld understood this. If only the vampires in hollywood could. Instead though they’ll bleed the franchises dry, and when there’s not a drop left, they’ll spend years trying to reanimate the corpse

Star Wars isn't the story if Luke, Knights of the Old Republic demonstrated it 20 years ago. It's set 4000 years before the movies, it doesn't impact them at all, yet it's still regarded as one of the best Star Wars stories, alongside its sequel. Star Wars is about emotions, light vs dark, good vs evil. You can make pretty much anything with that. It's just that Disney cannot infuse their shows and movies with emotions and passion to save their life.
