@@ericsscout I have 69 mustang where I want a crazy engine and transmission swap in it and upgrading the differential. Engine from 2006 Lexus 3UZ Transmission toyota R155 Do you recommend the T5 from newer mustangs differential ? From what years you would suggest to look for if I would like the limited slip as well. Thanks
Great video, I am looking to put a T5 in my 1950 3100 chevy it has already been converted to newer style open driveline with a 235, 3speed and rear end out of something newer.
Hi, I know that is been a long time but I would like to ask about the transmission, from what S10 it did come out of what year ? I do appreciate all you videos especially the serie on the chevy 1952 thanks God bless you
Too bad the OD transmission didn't work out for you. I'm swapping my regular 3-speed for a 3-speed w/ OD in my '56. I'm really curious about the T5 swap, though.
Easily done. I'm putting in a driveshaft from a S-10 regular cab short bed that will slip in with no modifications. Trans is from a 84, rear end is from a 95 and driveshaft is from a 92. All goes together.
Hi Eric! I have a 43 chevy 1.5 ton. 216 with 4 speed crashbox. On the T5 swap, did the T5 bearing retainer flange fit snug in the big hole in the stock 216 bell housing? Any play or machining needed? Also, is it correct that the T5 mounting pattern will fit the 216 bell housing by just reaming the T5 holes out to 1/2"? Thanks so much. Mark
@@ericsscout Ok, so the bell housing you used was for a 216, and it had the wide style trans bolt pattern like the T5. Mine is a 46 and also a truck, so the pedal mount to the bell housing will probably be different. Other than that, can you tell me exactly what year that bell housing is? I am having trouble nailing down exactly which years work, as they made 3 or 4 different trans bolt patterns for cars and trucks during the 40s-early 50s. Thanks a bunch. This is VERY helpful.
@@markjohnson9495 the bellgousing I used was for a 55-62 chevy car with a 6 cylinder engine. It has the same bolt pattern as the old engine and modern transmission. Sorry if there was confusion earlier. The factory truck bellhousings may be a little different but im not completely sure.
So think I finally found the bellhousing I need.. Quick question, in order to swap the bellhousing will I have to remove clutch and pressure plate? Also I have never worked on anything (engine wise) this old are the bolts holding the bellhousing in place on the inside of the housing? Thanks!!
@@MrSteve01974 on these cars you will have to remove the clutch and pressure plate. 63 and later they are all accessible on the outside if the bellhousing.
I would suggest a 200r4 or an 700r4. Both have the overdrive. Your going to need a bellhousing adapter as the modern transmission will not bolt up to the pre 63 six cylinder engines.
