This is a complete disassembly of a Dyson V11 and V10. This video is extremely long and you will need to watch the other 2 videos on my channel to hel you understand how to remove the connector
Hi. Thank you for the excellent guide. I just repaired the trigger in my V11. I had to use crazy glue and JB weld on the one arm of the trigger that cracked (cheap plastic), and now it works. Your guide was PRICELESS.
Thank you for taking the time to show complete disassembly; I couldn't have figured it out by myself. It appears that Dyson does not want their vacuums to be repaired. I cannot find replacement parts or repair literature anywhere. You noted in the video the bin retainer breaking on a removable plastic piece required replacement of the whole cleaner; the part is not sold. Likewise, on my 3 month old V11, the retaining fingers on the small plastic clip that holts the electrical connector in the machine end of the long vacuum tube broke. It has a part number on the clip, but a Google search on the part number returns only ads for Dyson vacuums. Thus, only the complete $50 tube is available instead of a $1 part to fix it. Glad its under warranty. To clean my V11, I simply use an electric leaf blower to blow out all the openings and HEPA filter. It works great!
Brilliant video. Thank you. Without you I would never have worked out what was wrong with the vacuum cleaner, got it apart and back together. Fantastic.
Thanks for the teardown. I was unlucky enough to have to replace the housing around the filter and trigger. Your video really helped me out with the removal of the white plastic inside.
This is incredible - And I never comment on videos. Super useful, saved me precious time. The plastic on the cleaner-top of the dust bin just chipped away when I was disassembling for cleaning... felt a bit cheap honestly. If ever, Dyson Europe has good client service, but there is also eBay that seals parts if ever. Cheers and thanks!
Thank you good sir! That red ring rubber and plastic ring thing came off when I was emptying the canister. This was great to figure out how to put it back together again.
My trigger broke. This was an excellent guide. I got as far exposing the white dust cover of the control board but didn't know what to do next. I have a V10 and it is glued also. I had to carefully cut and break away the glue to take it apart further but I finally got the trigger assembly out. The trigger is simply too thin and broke after repeated use.
Thank you x10000000 for this video. Saved me hundreds of dollars; I was able to glue my broken trigger together and restore functionality instead of buying a whole new vacuum! BTW, all of the screws identified in this video as T8 Torx are in fact T9. T8 works if that's all you have, but it's not the right fit. Use T9 if you have one!
There's an easier way to temporarily disconnect the wires! It can be removed from the main motor section by taking apart each section to access the screws to dismantle but then refitting loosely to gain enough access to pop the rubber boot that holds the pins in place from the cyclone zone using a flat head screwdriver and a little force. Then it's just a matter of removing the boot by prying the clip open. To reconnect, loosely fit all the parts together so that the wires protrude enough to refit the boot and then simply pull back into position and then refit as disassembled. Saves so much time!
Yeah I was thinking this as I'm watching the video and trying to disassemble mine. Didn't seem like you need to fully remove all the wiring. I was able to pry out the wires from the end connector that goes to the attachments by just using a flathead screwdriver and a little force to pop out the clips.
Hello big. Now I changed that part and honestly I didn't have any major problems. Thank you very much for this video and if it wasn't for you I certainly wouldn't have succeeded. Thank you once again and I wish you a nice evening.
I would like to thank you for this video. I think I would not have been able to fix it or I may have broken something along the way if I had not seen your video. Many many thanks.
This is an amazing guide, it's been driving me nuts having dirt in the rubber seals of the bin and I got the end flap ones out but had no luck with the vacuum side.. perfect! I think it's a real fault, especially for the price, that its not easier / more intended to disassemble this bin at the very least and honestly cleaning the cyclones easier would be nice too. The unit is obviously quite a lot louder now than when I first got it - air noise wise.
Hi thank you. Amazing video. I have a problem, when I use my vacuum cleaner it malfunctions. I have followed everything you have done and also cleaned the broom. filter has also been washed. the vacuum cleaner malfunctions. the sink lamp keeps coming on. the engine lives its own life. Please help
Awesome video, thanks. Where can I get a replacement grey ring that sits over red ring? The one I have is cracked and when I dump the dirt, it comes off
Good video thanks - I need to take the V10 apart. I was wondering if I could design a tool (instead of the chopsticks) to knock out the plug - seems it must be long enough to reach the plug and the right shape to push it out??
if you checkout my channel i show you 2 methods to remove the plug. the chopstick method which is quick and easy. The shim method which is safer but require more effort.
of course it will void your warranty if they find out. there is no maintencance service since doing what is in the video is unecessary, as dyson gaurantee the vacuum never loses suction.
The gray graphite donuts are made of a ferrite material and are referred to as toroids. By looping the conductors through them electro-magnetic fields are setup and aid in reducing electromagnetic "noise." This is often required to comply with FCC interference requirements.
To expand Jeff's comment slightly, the toroids form a "common mode choke" intended to reduce the high frequency components of the electrical noise generated by the motor, that can interefere with TV and radio reception.
For those out there who plan to routinely disassemble for cleaning, skip the entire plastic shim and chopstick routine, and instead, cut the wires, and then attach crimp or solder on bullet style wiring disconnects to the wires...then, in future cleaning cycles, all one has to do is unplug the bullet connectors to service the cyclone
Amazing video, you walked me through it and now my dyson is deep cleaned! For future concerns, what would happened if I did not correctly insert the black and white wiring? What are signs of problems?
Silly question but which Phillips screwdriver can I use to open mine? I can't seem to find one thin enough to fit in the hole to unscrew the 4 screws on the base. The ones that I have that do fit, are too small.
How do you get the screws out of the part under the purple filter cap? I can't see what I'm doing bc the space is so tiny and down a narrow cylinder. So I'm blindly twisting the screwdriver. Each time I check with a flashlight, the screw doesn't look like it's moved
Thanks for the video! I reassembled and I have 3 long screws that I have no idea where they go. I can see them in your video up against the far side of the box. Can you help me out?
Hi. Came across your channel while trying to troubleshoot my vacuum cleaner. After removing and cleaning the filter, my vacuum now is pulsating. I have checked all the places like in the video from Dyson on how to check/clear blockages but it’s still pulsating. Any idea what else I can do? Thanks!
Hi, followed all the steps and managed to assemble everything back except now the mode button on the LCD screen on the rear doesn’t change the mode anymore. It was working fine before this, any recommendations on what I can check or which cables to check if there is voltage? Thanks, hope to get it working again
Ther is the silicone skirt/gasket that is above the silver motor part attached to the gray plastic part which looks deformed as it is on my vacume. You didn't mention it. Is it removable? can it be replaced? You can see it at 38:25 right below you right hand.
From where can I purchase the plastic strip that keeps the bin from sliding out please? My bin keeps sliding out because the small piece of plastic that holds the bin from sliding out is broken as shown in the video. Thanks. J
Thanks for the guide! I'm trying to fix my broken trigger but I pulled out the small sensor cable off the pcb and broke the base connector. Will this affect the trigger? It doesn't look like it connects to anything on the pcb?
Also I did not have an extension for T8 screwdriver and no shops open late at night so because the screwdriver reached the screw in the switch housing but not long enough to grip I used a clamp/multigrip thing to turn the screwdriver and this worked. Just a tip if this can help anyone else.
Hiyer! Excellent video! My V10 has the broken trigger issue. Stripped down ok until I got to removing the trigger assembly from the handle. Refuses to come out! The fixing screw just goes round, seems like the assembly is glued in? Your advice please?
@@richardwilliams3986 are you sure you done the right thing. watch the below video at @39.30 onwards ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vB8Bp7kWj5c.html
Thank you for your replies. Still no luck. The screw (deep in the handle) was very tight to undo which led me to the glue suspicion. It turns ok now but doesn’t tighten either. Does it just screw into plastic or is there some sort of lock in there? Anyway, if I put any more force to extract the assembly something is going to break so I’m going to plan B. Forget the trigger repair, reassemble and join the small red and black wires that go to the little connector on the PCB. I’ll turn the motor on and off by taking the filter on and off. Regards Richard.
Hello and thanks for your video :) You know if V10 bin is compatible with V11? Normal size, not big bin.I broke mine, and the bin for V11 is out of stock, but V10 is available.
they change the ends. if you watch my newer videos it will explain and show you it. basically the bins will not fit. you will need to do 5:30 in the video to switch the old and new one over before you can use it
Every time I place red gasket with grey ring together I make sure it’s lined up so when I place back together with bin gasket they just slide off into the clear bin. I make sure they snap and are aligned, but nothing is working.! Help!
Rather than take the plug out just snip the wires and add some in line crimps when you reassemble. Much easier and makes disassembly next time even easier.
i did this in my older version of the the video which is on my channel and many pople didnt like it. it is harder to do and requires knowledge and skills that many poeple dont have. it is also scarier since it is cutting the cable .
What if battery works and charges but the Dyson will not turn on? 3 blue solid lights when trigger is pressed but motor doesn't engage? Is there a hard reset I csn do? Thank you!
you need to watch the new version of the video it tells you what you are doing wrong 10:40 in the below video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n2O0zNCRKX4.html
A very useful video. Thanks! Like most Dyson equipment, the concepts are brilliant, and they work very well - but the engineering is so horribly over-complicated it becomes obvious why they are so expensive! Sadly, useful service information is also almost non-existent, and after-sales help is generally very poor :(
there is a misunderstading. first service is unnescessary. without doing the stuff in the video your dyson will work like normal. it is just something you do to clean but does not improve performance.second if something goes wrong dyson will replace the item for you without you needing to return the faulty item. you might think this is bad until you tried other vacuum like bissel where you can even disassameble it to clean as they glue it together.
@@OpenMeUpTec "if something goes wrong dyson will replace the item for you without you needing to return the faulty item." not in my expereience, after the gurantee period has expired! My meaning was that, just like Apple, if you want to repair a unit yourself, there is no "official" information available.
@@chrisvig123 you dont need to service it. dyson tells you that if doesnt affect the unit. i cana tell you there is bsically no difference doing this or not.
Thank you so much for ur vid. Very informative. One question though. Can v10 & v11’s bin be swapped? (Meaning use v10’s on v11 and use v11’s on v10?) and can their batteries be swapped as well? I see they are both 25.2v and designed exactly the same but v11 has bit more capacity. Please please let me knw
@@OpenMeUpTec thanks for answering. Oh.. the batteries looked exactly the same and had same voltage. Does it not function at all when they are exchanged?
@@OpenMeUpTec yes it is,the slider works to empty it But the other red bit inside to release the canister Doesn’t come down far enough for me to click it So it comes off the actual hoover. My filter light keeps coming on ,I’ve cleaned it But during hoovering it comes on again.
Well I watched the video and because I wanted to clean the mesh screen and make sure the Cyclone is clean too and disconnecting the wires and the connector and all that I bypassed all that and grabbed my 20 volt benchtop blower I bought from Harbor Freight it has like a 200 mph wind and I blew actually they're Take It Outside cuz it will make a cloud dust like you really don't want in your house anyway forwards and backwards man that thing is clean and I didn't have to disassemble all so much I did take the four screws out of the first part that contains the connector but left the rest of it intact just two separate pieces with the wires hang in and the connector still in place but yeah take that high pressure and blow it kind of blow a cloud out the back where that filter on the back goes and then you blow it the other way through the Cyclone it'll blow just keep doing that and it's a lot easier than what I just watched you do
Hi, can you please give me the reference (size) of the screwdriver you're using to remove the display/handle part, the long one in black and yellow. Thx
it is nothing special. it is just a normal phillips head screw driver. i dont have the specs. but you shoul be able to find it anywhere. it just has to be long thats all. i purchase a set of them for $20AUD
My Dyson brush bar spins ONLY on high speed. It doesn't matter if I have the small or little brush bar attached...they only spin in the most powerful setting. Trying to run on the two lower setting results in the motor pulsing with no suction and no brush bar spinning. Any help??
the bruch bar only has one setting. only the torque head has different speeds. if it is pulsing then you have a blockage somewhere. please note if your filter is old and has been clean correctly it can cuase the pulse
@@OpenMeUpTec THank you so much for the quick reply. Subscribed! Do you mean that the blockage is serious enough to cause the pulsing on the first two speeds, but not clogged enough to stop it from running perfectly on boost mode? I shouldnt even mention brush bars. It just pulses in lower two speeds with no suction...runs perfect in Boost mode...lots of suction and bars work.
we have some bits of stuff falling into the dust collector with each use, that look like little fragments of some kind of black plastic screen... but I don't see any part in your video that looks like a fine black plastic screen... and it seems to make filter light blink, even when the filter is clean... what could this be...??
dust builds up over time and looks like pieces of plastic. rub it with your hand and see if it disappears. you confirm your filter is clean if you lift it up to the light and it should be white. if it looks gray or dark like a shadow it is not clean
@@OpenMeUpTec the filter seems to be entirely clean... when i look inside the part of the motor housing that sticks up into the filter, behind all the little holes it looks there is a fine black plastic screen... is there one in there..? is it a problem if it starts to break down...? it seems that in this place the air is flowing out from the motor housing through the holes and into the purple filter... so the little bits wouldn't be going into the motor, I guess....
@@OpenMeUpTec i watched another video just now from Beko1987, why dysons kill themselves #74, and he disassembles the motor, and there is some kind of like sponge that he pulls out of the housing from behind the motor... could that be it...? what is the purpose of that sponge...? does it break down over time...? thanks...!
@@OpenMeUpTec hi, I was googling around and found some pictures with the identical little bits of plastic ending up in the purple filter... they look like little tiny black plastic dogbones... and they say the sponge is for sound reduction...! I suppose that makes sense, a filter that is completely inaccessible for cleaning or replacement would be strange... although just shoving a sponge into a tube for sound reduction is pretty poor engineering also...! Why couldn't they just make the top of the tube with a lid to get at the sponge, instead of having to disassemble literally the entire vacuum and motor just to get access to it... :( ** So, in either case, I suppose that we could just put up with the sponge slowly degrading, if it doesn't actually affect operation of the vacuum...? Thanks...!
you can but i have not shown it and will not be providing a demonstration. there is also no purpose of removing it unless you want to clean the form peice inside
Hi All, I also have a broken trigger. So, looking at the trigger removal section, what I'm looking at is pulling everything apart to get to the trigger, correct? Hey Ich Ich, in what way was your trigger broken? And how did you fix it? Mine kinda feels like theres nothing behind the trigger, or is not making contact correctly or something. If you keep pushing it quite hard, it does turn on sometimes.. Not sure if pulling it all apart will give me the clue as to what happens to get the trigger working again. But it feels like it's just not making contact or something like that, and is why it doesn't start the motor.
@@peterlip8 Yes, that trigger has a crack in it and will just bend but not make contact. Replacement trigger is like 10 bucks on ebay. Be careful not to rip out the cables when pulling the casing off! :)
I cannot find ANYWHERE how to take apart the LOOP of the am09 dyson hot+cool. I know how to disassemble the base, core and remove the loop but to tear apart the loop itself I have not found anything. Please help me
Masterful video! Thank you! Followed all instructions to put back red gusset assembly, however as soon as I turn it on again, it falls off. Do I need a replacement piece?
