I needed to replace the purple gator that is located in the top of the head. No-one seems to take that step in their explanations but following your directions, I got to the point where I could unclip the old split one and replace it. Only two additional screws in the neck to locate the other end and then reassembly as you showed. Thanks for putting this up. 👌👍
V10Absolute purchased July 2018. Fluffy Head stopped spinning. As there was nothing obvious stopping it from working assumed it was a motor problem and as a replacement was going to cost $A170+ which I was not prepared to pay decided to let an electrician friend have a play. Using a meter thingy he ascertained one wire not connecting (no power) so started to disassemble (as above but did not actually have to remove the motor itself) which led to removing purple concertina tube and red buttons (challenge in itself). The broken black wire was in a slotted section in the round grey plastic tube which surrounds the purple concertina hose. Long story short....as he could not get access to do a complete re-wire, he joined the broken wire, drilled a hole above the red button on the backside and another in the clear plastic bracket that holds the brush head onto the part with the concertina hose and pulled both wires through and although I now have the wiring on the outside the whole outfit is working as new . I'd post photos if I could.
Thank you very much for the video. The fluffy head didn’t spin around so I had to take it completely apart to get all the hair out and twine. Now it works perfectly and you save me £65
Helped me a lot with your clear instructions, including showing where the screw or piece will be placed. Thank you for this! Cleaning made the battery last longer too.
Thank you soooo much for this! I've just spent half an hour removing the hair which had become tightly wrapped around the spindle on the rear, small roller with an old (blunt) steak knife. I wish I'd thought to look on RU-vid first! Having followed your instructions and removed the side bit and the fluffy head, I was horrified to see how much hair had wrapped itself around the spindle. Now that I've removed it, I can try and clean the fluffy head itself with a bit of detergent and an old toothbrush. Thanks again!
Thank you! Mine doesn’t have the rear roller, but I simply needed to replace the big one and don’t have a coin slot on the side. All the videos showed coin slot on the side and none were like yours explaining the fact the slot on bottom needs to be vertical, and how to pivot the side piece with the arrow. Thanks!
Another awesome tutorial! Watching you video saved me a lot of headache. It was very easy to clean my motorhead thanks to your great step by step video guide. Much appreciated 👍!
Your tear-down video was well done showing clearly both the disassembly, and refitting considerations, at each stage. Great job !! PS. See, I had a problem like Jl Wel2 (1-Jul-2020)
İ think some models doesnt have a back roller it just has weels first you need to take apart the four screws at the bottom than the tiny screw in the left if you are looking from the back (there is no screw under the label) then turn it upside down and pull the part that has big weels it will come up a little And pull from the part that is in the spot of the back roller it will come off and its same from there
Have a V12 absolute. I HATE this stupid design. If you have someone in the house that sheds long hair, this machine is a PAIN to clean and untangle. You need a torx screwdriver to clean this machine. I have switched to a Roborock vacuum machine with a dust bag assembly in the docking station. My life has been so much better since. I just need a cloth to wipe the hard to reach areas once in awhile and I'm done. Maintenance of the robo-vacuum is basically tool-less. These machines are supposed to make your life easier... Not harder.
Thank you for the video. It does not however, show how to clean the tiny plastic rollers on each side, between the rollers. These become clogged almost immediately, with dog hair, and become immobile, causing the head to drag across the floor. Any ideas?
Done deep clean mine. Great & helpful video. Love the artwork of Dyson. The only thing now is the small roller got hair stuck on one side(left side - my view while watch this vid). Is there a way for me to open that roller as well? Can't find any visible screw.
I had an issue with my roller not spinning. I took it apart, cleaned it and then turned on the Dyson without putting the roller on to see what the motor was doing. The cross looking part at the end of the motor would rotate couple times and then stops spinning. Do you think there is a repair for that? Should it be rotating the entire time?
so at 8.00 in the video thats the motor. it should be spinning as long as the trigger is press. i recommend you to disassemble everything and just test the motor itself. if it is not working it is most likely dead. it is a simple product therefore i dont beliebe you can fix a dead motor.
@@OpenMeUpTec + @JI Wel2 .. My soft roller is not spinning when connected to the vacuum unit (V6 absolute) .. i tried the vacuum unit with other roller attachments and they all spin OK .. so its not a problem with vacuum battery (1month old), connectors, or shafts .. So I did the "open me up" teardown too, but found only small clumps of dust fibres to clear - nothing significant .. While the motor was isolated (as per video 10:02), I held the roller motor wire terminals directly onto (kitchen knives inserted into) slots of standalone Dyson battery - the motor spins for a whole second after pressing the battery switch button .. Also I tested and confirmed connectivity from the roller motor terminals back to the power pins of the roller's shaft .. Overall I could not find a problem aspect .. I just reassembled it carefully and re-tested, but it still behaves the same as before the teardown .. ie the vacuum is sucking but roller is not responding to battery. Any ideas ??
@@marcoegging2348 go back and do everything till 5.55 and testing the roller there by placing it back in the vacuum. the motor should spin if not then you have a motor issue
@@OpenMeUpTec Thanks, Yes - it must be a motor issue of this soft roller. When the power trigger is pressed, motor spindle may do quarter or half turn only; switch off and on, and then maybe get another quarter turn if assisted. Internet has motor assemblies for US48 plus shipping which I will skip, since I can use our brush attachment as 2nd best instead. I would consider getting just a motor, but I could not see how to open the motor assembly casing to access it. Cheers, M
The problem I had with this head was that hair will get stuck at the wheels and they are impossible to remove. Do you happen to have a solution to this?
please watch my video on the OPEN ME UP! Dyson V11 and V10 High Torque Head Disassembly and Clean ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--qZAngaJ3Io.html at 21.55
@@deealba7298 i ended up installing it even tho it was broken, figured it's better than nothing. It's been a few months now and it's been running fine...
I can not take off the big brush roll from the motor, as if there is some screw that is blocking it from inside 😡 it is moving for 1 cm and then blocks.. do not want to force it ...please advise
I had the same thing. Forcing it from the motor side to push it off was what worked eventually for me. I managed to get a screw driver (or some other round stick strong enough to use as a lever) between the roller and the side cap. That 1cm moving you feel? That is _not _ the motor. You probably have the same thing as I have, the little plastic black ring has come off and is stuck between the motor and the roller.
May i ask, does anyone know, is the v10 and v8 ROLLER HEAD MOTOR exactly the same? My v10 roller head motor r broken, I saw v8 roller head motor parts from the web, not sure to buy it yet hmm
yes it is since it depends wherer you buy it and what you buy it with. here is the newer version of the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sBCmG7KGvss.html
I do not have a torque screwdriver, What do you suggest. I was trying to use a phillips head screwdriver, and it would not turn any of the four screws.Thank you for your reply.
OPEN ME UP I read that there were voltage differences between some of the models (I.e. V7 vs V11), is this true or is there straight compatibility across the models you mention above with the accessories?
@@Rivster79 yes they are the same thing and just work. voltage difference is the vacuum itself therefore, the head might spin faster in the v11 than the v7. but over all there is no harm
My v8 fluffy is different. It doesn't have the blue small bar, but it has a little gray plastic bar there with two even smaller wheels. Those wheels eat up hairs and get stuck, but I don't know how to remove them. Anyone? (the little black ring one the motor snapped and got stuck between motor and the big roller. The roller was extremely hard to remove from the motor, scary stuff)
you still need a torx bit but it is much larger i believe it is T15. can you please watch the video and tell me at what time it shows up as i believe you talking about the screw that holds the motor
@@tonyrioux5753 at 3.30 the screw i remove is the same as all the reset. there is only one screw that requires a bigger torx head which is at 7.05 which is the motor screw
Wow! This is great! Thanks a ton mate. Could you help me figure out a squeaky issue with the motor head? Let me know if I could contact you via email and send you a picture of the part I'm referring to. I just got my v11 weeks ago. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanks
what is the problem. just post the picture online and send me the link here. or watch the video and tell me at what time you have a problem or at what time the thing shows up
@@OpenMeUpTec Here is the image. imgur.com/a/BP1bWkA | I have highlighted the problem area (yellow circle). So this wheel is squeaking. Whenever I move the vacuum back and forth, the wheel squeals. It is not loud, but definitely irritating. The sound was there before. I think I may have accidentally hit the vacuum on the floor to get some stubborn dirt off.
@@rid-rid so you want to know how to remove those wheels. you need to get something to pry it out. you need to put your screw driver or prying tool in side close to the middle and ligt it up. it is a bit hard. you might want to disassble it and you can remove it from the back
OPEN ME UP I really appreciate you taking time to reply. Can i just use oil instead? Not sure what oil to use? Someone said use WD40. But isn't WD40 a degreaser? Please advise.
watch the newer version of the video on my channel. it doesnt cut as i thought i dont need to explain how to put it back since i already show you how to take it out
I accidentally washed the whole thing with a water hose. Leaving it out to dry for 24 hours now. I’m so worried that I’ve spoil the damn thing!! HELPPPPPPP
i have the dc59 to the v15 and can tell you this came from my v11. But then depending which model you purchase and where you live, you will receive something different
What a horrible design. That motor pipe at 8:36 cannot be removed unless you literally tear everything down cables and all. Mine is full of tangled hair but I cannot remove them because of this. Never buying Dyson again.
Thank you very much for the video. The fluffy head didn’t spin around so I had to take it completely apart to get all the hair out and twine. Now it works perfectly and you save me £65
