I am a 67 yr old female and I just watched this and worked through cleaning my v7 Dyson that would only run for maybe 3 minutes before shutting down. I will now wait for the filter to fully dry, but the system without the filter seems to be running longer. Here’s to fingers crossed that tomorrow it will be back to 100% 🤞

We have a V6 since they came out and I never knew you could remove the sock of the filter. Our V6 was having the pulsating problem and this time I couldn't find where the blockage was until I saw this video, now it is working again and the best, it has recovered A LOT of suction power, I never realized it had slowly lost power. Thanks a lot.

You are a life saver!. Been ready to sling the thing out but after watching your video and learning there’s clips that you can release on the filter. I discovered a load of hard twigs, and impacted dust. Did exactly what you said and it’s now up and running. Thank you, thank you, thank you. X

I followed your instructions on cleaning the filter. I also added some washing up liquid and hot water and flushed it through. Golly the amount of muck that came out. I left it over night to dry out. It now works like a new machine. Many thanks for your informative video. Keep them coming.

Omg, you're a genius 😊 You were right about others not saying anything about separating the sock portion from the plastic insert. Mine was already wet - I just washed it under running water and put it aside - when I saw your video afterwards and decided to click it. Then I follow what you said, I grabbed a small flat head screwdriver and easily push in the three little tabs and removed the sock portion. Just like you said, I was surprised, there was a wet ball of hair and nasty grime eww. Thank you!

U r a diamond in a sea of glass! Had no idea my top filter was so HORRENDOUSLY DIRTY even though I thought I cleaned it properly…the removal of the outer sock was genius and once removed I saw it was clogged to the middle with hard dried debris…UNREAL! And it took me almost twenty minutes to clean out WHAT I COULDNT SEE INITIALLY…from the sock after I had removed the skeleton …debris just came out like a never ending well of crud…so I’m letting it dry 24 hours and praying for the best ..so much appreciated …better than Dyson could ever explain …stay blessed

I seriously can’t thank you enough for posting this video! Surprising blockage. I have cleaned the Dyson more than a few times over the years but the latest problem was the power cutting out. I have washed the blue filter before, so this time as you suggested I removed the washable part from the plastic and was shocked to see a large solid blob of hair and dust. Obviously every time I have washed it the dust and hair have combined just like a big mud pie and then dried solid. Thanks for the tip.

Thank you so much for showing us how to take that filter apart. I had no idea! And I'd had my stick vacuum for a long time, and I just got a new battery. I got it on Amazon. I think I paid $26 for it. Not bad, got it replaced. It's on the charger even though it says it's fully charged. I stuck it in there anyway. But I put the clean filter in that they sent, and I decided. I'd wash the other one because I usually do them every 3 months, so I figured It wasn't too dirty, but I took it apart like you suggested, but after I soaked it a little. I always put a couple drops of Dawn dish soap in there and rub it together between my hands, like a tube and squish out all that dirt and then rinse for like 5 minutes with cold water until it runs completely clear. And then I let it air dry overnight. Well. Twenty-four hours. But I live in Arizona, so I put it out in the sun. It'll be dry in two minutes.....lol..lol

If you get the flashing blue again. Do not replace the battery. A new battery does squat. With these older vacuums, there was and issue with underpowered batteries in these vacuums. The issue lies using max setting. While using the vacuum with the wand attached and using the brush roll causing load and overheating on max setting. Also the radial seals in the powerhead, that surrounds the motor which is a flat rubber ring with air passages that holds the motor in the housing becomes blocked and caked with fine dust and blocks some of the passages adding to the temperature rise in the motor adding more load to the battery demands. This was a design flaw on dysons part. A new battery will only last 3 months under heavy use. I know these vacuums have pet attachments, however constant pet grooming and constant rough garbage like dried mud, pebbles from the road, drywall dust, sawdust and any industrial debris is not recommended either. Max setting should only really be used for non electric motorized brush roll attachments, with or without the wand. Because the wires that run through the wand for the motorized powerhead develop lots of load to the electric motorized head on max setting. Here to its also a good idea to check the power brush contacts on the dustbin for corrosion. Now for the wand to check the connection for grounds, shorts or faults you need a voltmeter. If you have weak continuity from one of the terminals to the tubing of the wand you have a ground and your battery will drain or the powerbrush will slightly bog or squeal under load. Loose wand on the unit also contributes to electrical issues. Now hoe to reset this. If the vacuum cuts out every 15 seconds constantly or intermittently from time to time. Depress the trigger. While running for 5 seconds, push the max button to off position. If it's already off. Stop after 5 seconds. Now with the wand attachment off, put it on the charger until the light goes off again. ( may take half hour or 45 minutes). If you don't do this the first time by sticking it on the charger the vacuum will go off after 15 seconds then you'll have to start over again. Once the vacuum light goes off on the charger. Try it again on low setting, it should work. However remember it's up to the operator how they use the vacuum. Use it heavy with all the motorized power attachments on high, you'll get that same fault. With a new battery under the same conditions your new battery may last from 3 to 9 months and your back at the beginning. Eventually it can get so bad that the red flash of death appears then you are totally screwed. There are also bulletins even recommending not to constantly use the device on high settings constantly. These vacuums are not shop vacs. Remember it's like an automobile. It's equipped with max throttle, if you constantly race your vehicle and run it at high throttle and rat bag it constantly, eventually it will break. Take other youtube repair links with a grain of salt on these vacuums. I like this video. As an experienced vacuum repair technician I see a lot of these vacuums given away when the fault lies with the inexperienced. I'm just putting this out there for future reference for these sophisticated computerized digital motor vacuums. Great video 👍👍👍👍

My V6 dyson(sv03) when I run it turns on for about 30s then flashes amber 2 short flashes, then long, then repeats this about 4 cycles. I have done pretty in-depth cleaning on this, learning from other videos on dyson v6 cordless. I have taken it completely( dismantled 100%), worked very well until I thought original battery was done. I purchased off market replacement. Wondering if this might be issue, as I’ve read from other posts. The original battery/unit is about 5-6yr old. That’s why thought after I cleaned it all out, filters included it was the battery. Now the replacement does this. Wondering if you can provide some advice. Could there be fine dirt built up in the motor housing or behind circuit board? I don’t want to mess with circuit board unneedingly.
@Ecksterphono
@Ecksterphono 8 месяцев назад
@jenniferweisenberg3605 . Most likely yes. However over time and abrasive activity of fine dust the circuit board for the brushless motor can cause shorting to the point of causing resistors to become damaged and other circuitry not to respond to the battery control unit. Also aftermarket batteries can have slight issues with fluctuations in output and aren't quality controlled and the thermistors in the aftermarket batteries may not be up to par which prevents battery from excessive heat. Always best with these vacuums is to use a factory battery. The magnets in the rotor part of the unit mat also be weak. If the ceramic housing has any types of nicks or even hairline cracks, then any expansion may cause imbalance and slight vibration may cause heat issues. Yellowing of the ceramic housing indicates heat fatigue over prolonged use and age of the unit. 5 or 6 years is quite a long time under heavy use and adverse conditions. Over time even the best products do break down. With these vacuums there can be a lot of factors from pitted bearings to abrasive wear, to overheated circuit boards causing components and connections to weaken over time to weakening of the windings and weak polarity of the magnet system

@@Ecksterphono Thank you for the info & detail. Much appreciated. I’ll check out price of dyson battery. Last I checked it was pretty much better buy brand new. I actually don’t use this vacuum very much or aggressively. Mostly for light dirt around kitchen so don’t have to haul out my main central vac. If it’s 6 yrs old I’d bet it maybe has running hrs about equal to 3 yrs use if I had to estimate. Thanks again!

My Dyson would start and stop constantly even after fully charged. I have pets and I vacuum a lot. I clean the top with no resolution. When I cleaned the bottom (motorhead) I found a bunch of pet hair clogging the vacuum. It worked like a charm after cleaning it.

If you have a mains powered vac you are better to use that to suck out the opened filter prior to rinsing. I also use the mains powered to suck out any dust etc after the bin has been removed and also where the filter goes in. These sticks are the worst when you need another vac to actually clean it properly. If I didnt have shoulder and back issues I would be happy to use my big vac all the time. :)

Our V6 Animal. Found a bit of hair in filter. Cleaned everything as much as could. Last resort. Banging the internal filter with everything off. Chunks of crap came out. Still not working. Starts and stops. If there is a way to pull the internal blue bit apart would be only hope. Had it at least 6 years and gave it a good flogging. Maybe time to let it go. Get another. I have V11 outsize. But it too strong to clean our small high pile rug. Even on lowest setting. It so hard to move on the rug lol. Love it on carpet.
