OPENING 1984 TOPPS BASEBALL CARD RACK PACKS! 

People opened cases of racks and cello packs in those days to determine sorting pattern and then knew what was in the packs...owned a shop in mid 1980s and knew was going on so only bought sealed cases of rack cards. But still fun to open...

I did this recently with 1989 Topps rack packs. It was so much fun to do something I hadn't done since I was a kid.

Pretty sure 1984 rack packs are search due to similar collation. I bought a supposed unsearched rack pack box no Mattingly or Strawberry. Got like 3 to 4 copies of some cards definitely felt like the box was built with an amalgamation of packs rather than came that way from the factory.

This set was my first set I built from going to the flea market every Sunday

It could be the person knew the sequence of the cards and that is why certain ones were gone. i pack pulled all those guys back in the day,opened so much 82-87 Topps not to mention Fleer and Donruss as well.

Back in the day I loved the checklist cards... there was 5 of us and we traded checklists till we had the set. It helped us keep track of the full card set & cards we all needed... and even with 5 of us it still took forever. I bet we could've each bought 2 or 3 factory sets for the money we spent on pks ea building a set. I was the early 70's and i'm pretty sure the packs were 25 cents each. One of us never opened a box i wanna say the most we bought at 1 time ea was 8 pks (2 dollars) well if you count 5 of us thats 40pks We would flip-n-match our doubles on the ground.... collectors today would faint if they saw what we were doing with mint out of the pack cards from the early 70's 😂😂😂

the guy who sold you those racks already pulled the mattingly and strawberry cards from the section he opened. the ripken was the only good card you pulled and surprisingly the seller didnt keep that since it was on the bottom of the pack

Raks were super easy to search and I wouldn’t have even paid a dollar per. The only thing you can hope for is a low pop PSA 10 no name guy.

Very interesting why one of the three peices was cut off ? If your doing it to search the pack it's hard to believe it would be worth it because now you have a rack pack that would be hard to sell

If you know a few certain cards you can easily pick the packs containing the key rookies. Not giving it up but I could tell you it was going to be a dud break.

A lot of the so-so players are inserted so many times in packs throughout the years. They're the easiest to get!

So many of Topps 1984 were cut poorly.

As I understand it...the rack packs are made up of boxes that are opened and repacked. So, depending on who opened and repacked them. They are searched from the get-go. If this is not true, let me know.

Those packs sucked. Someone went thru them. How could u get that many all star cards,team leaders and record breakers but not get some average semi stars like dave parker or nolan ryan or pete rose and stuff. All those cards and cal Ripken, steve garvey and simmons is it? Seems shady
