Namaskar! I am the Belgian climber (after 49' 45") who stayed with Major Ranveer's Indian Army Team at EBC after the quke, to help... Read my article "Cleaning instead of Climbing" in the Nepali Times! It was a fantastic experience with the Indian Army team under the command of Major Ranveer. Extremely friendly, honest, helpful, disciplined, dedicated and strong mountaineers who, I am sure, are also great soldiers! I would fight with them, on their side ;-)) or climb with them any time!

this footage is simply bananas...why the algorithm took 6 years to serve it up to me is puzzling. the icefall footage during the quake and slides is so rare and valuable. it's like filming the surface of the moon at tranquility base when the eagle landed.

The footage taken while the climbing team were on the glacier and in the midst of the earthquake is amazing. You could tell by the quickened breathing that those men were terrified, yet there was no crying out, no one froze in place, everyone kept moving in as orderly a fashion as possible to get to safety. Those were some very brave men. I am in awe of them.

The Indian Army really stepped up to the occasion. I'm so impressed and am sure they made India proud. Also amazing the guys who managed to film without so much as a camera shake in all this chaos. This video should really be rated much higher in the algorithm.

It's as if the Indian Army was meant to be there that day. They truely showed great leadership and stayed calm in chaos. Blessings to them. 💖

These are soldiers who understand how to operate in difficult situations with loss of comrades, not a bunch of rich entitled people who are only out for there own self and self gratification. I have much admiration and respect for these Indian Army soldiers, very professional and an amazing display of leadership from all ranks. I know leadership when I see it, I spent 21 years as a US Army officer. Much love and respect for my Indian Army brothers. I would serve along side of these men any day.

Sincere respect for the Indian Army! I too was caught up there near the Everest Base Camp that day when this devastating earthquake hit the area. I too was stuck there for about eight days until rescued by the IAF from Lukla to Kathmandu by a helicopter and then from there back to Delhi. So many sad memories came back rushing to me as I sat watching this documentary today.

I love the good spirit and communication between the Indian Army officers and the Nepalese Sherpas. You can tell they are truly great people

I’m thinking the reason the Indian Army was able to hold it together while the Sherpas fell completely apart was because of their military training. It was very impressive to see their immediate call to action and how calm they were.

When you see a sherpa crying you know its bad. My salute to the Indian army and videographer amazing team.

Mad respect for the Indian military and the sherpas !!! As a former marine , this gave me a lot more respect for the Indian army !!! Always had respect for any world military especially our allies but how they put others before themselves demands a lot of respect and they can hold there heads high !!!! I’d fight next to that team anyday !!! God bless everyone who lost there lives and who saved those who came close to death !! This film needs to be shown more I found it by dumb luck !! One day I plan on attempting Everest after I concur Denali when I retire . Couple years god willing , I would be happy to just stand at the foot of Everest to be honest , I will one day . I wish I had known about this way earlier than just now. I have such mad respect for the Indian Army, absolutely a group of top notch, class act men. I believe it was destiny that brought them there at that very specific point in time. And of course it goes without saying, the admiration I have for the Sherpas that are present on Everest year after year is beyond comparison. All very, very brave and courageous men. God bless them.

Its amazing, I'm so grateful that the Indian Army were there and that they filmed this too because there was an image of a tall fair haired man, my younger brother a mountain climber. I saw this image on the BBC news and knew my brother was alive, until the images were sent around the globe we didn't know much, and your camera crew's footage sent out word of the survivors to the worried fretting families all over the world. There had been talk of satellite calls and other things but to be able to see the face of your brother on film confirmed it. We had been waiting for days and then found out he survived this terrible situation and still loves the mountain. We were all so worried about all of the summiteers and the conditions especially when the news came to us about the terrible earthquake in Nepal. The earthquake took so many lives and caused so much devastation to Nepal, I wasn't there but will never forget it. We couldn't get any information and I recall being wrung out for days because so many people died in Nepal and on the mountain and many were injured, the embassy's couldn't cope with enquiries at the time but each and everyone I contacted over the three quiet news days, came back to me to find out if he had survived when they began to move down the mountain. Many thanks to the Indian Army and all those who helped the injured and dying and those who cleaned up the mountain after all of the supplies were flung far and wide (not an easy job) You all made this easier for those of us waiting. xxx

I remember the feeling I had watching "Everest Imax" that alot of people on that mountain were selfish and emotionally cold that day. This gave me the exact opposite feeling, thank you, and I'm glad you made it through this.

The Khumbu Ice Fall was the scariest part to some summiters. Yet God spared the Indian Army from the Avalanche for them to perform their duties to those who needed them. They were called to this place for a reason. :)

To the Indian army team....out freaking standing! You guys remained strong and showed wonderful leadership in a time of crisis. 💪

To see everyone working together here, from multiple different backgrounds, is inspirational. The Indian Army, the Sherpas, and everyone else climbing that day worked together so well in such terrible conditions. You should all be very proud of yourselves.

Talk about Murphy's law, forget about it - an earthquake happening while members of the Indian army were crossing the kumbu ice fall on Mt. Everest. It was a miracle that all the soldiers survived, let alone rescue other injured survivors!!!

Words could never fully express the gratitude for the Indian soldiers for saving human lives in such tough hostile unforgiving environment and still deliver on their mandate which was to clean the dirty everest, I have summited table mountain in South Africa 🇿🇦, now i consider Mount Everest as a graveyard dream 🏴‍☠️

Wow. How come this was not reported before in such detail? This is an extremely informative video. Special mention about the Videograoger who, inspite of such dangerous situation, still managed to shoot raw footage without which this documentary wouldn't have been possible. This is an extremely good video which had to be released earlier. Usually, on these summit expeditions, people are told that they are just responsible for their own lives and that they should save themselves first, but the The Indian Army team put everyone else's safety before, upholding the ethos of the Army. So, so impressed by the India Army group. I remember this so well. It was a scary time in Nepal. We have a clinic there that is more or less the health care we can offer in this part of the world. It survived the earthquake, no idea how.

Sherpa might look innocent but they are bravest of brave they have been there for always

I must say I'm completely in awe of this brave group of men who braved such peril and served their fellow climbers with such compassion and selflessness. I only wish this had be publicized better. I send my warmest best wishes to the entire Indian Team for being the heros they are.

This was a great documentary. The Indian Army team was very brave. Some of them just had no experience with the glacier and to at first believe this could be sth that happens there all the time is mind blowing. Can you imagine having to face such a disaster on your very first day and very first climb through the icefall? That’s insane and might have saved their lives. They were so scared and so courageous at the same time. Such nice people. I’m truly impressed.

Being proud to be Nepali and blessed to say Mt Everest is in our country thanks God giving us a beautiful mountain Mt Everest as a gift. Mt Everest is always there infront of us.

Sherpas are considered to be the best on Everest & lead climbers.. but when they cried.. Indian Army lead the way. Amazing! The documentary just shows how chill the folks from the Indian Army were at the time of tragedy and during the whole time .. Thank heavens the Indian Army was there! And for those trapped where they stood in the Icefall -- the fact that they even made it back to Base Camp was, in itself, a miracle! I shudder to think what may have become of the Base Camp survivors had the Indian Army not been there to render aid and assistance! R.I.P. to the 22 who perished and my deepest sympathies to the families devastated by this tragedy. Namaste

I find this story so auspicious … as if this Indian army (not to summit for some victory but to clean up the mountain) just HAPPEN to be in the right place at the right time where no one was killed … just in the middle of many avalanches barreling down on EITHER SIDE OF THEM is really mind-blowing! All spared to assist so many others is one of those stories that makes one stop and consider how things really work in this physical fleeting precious reality.

There are no words to describe how proud it feels to acknowledge the greatness Man can achieve. Indian army is surely showing the way. If I sitting in the comfort of my home could feel the rush of pride in my lungs after seeing this, what the people up there must have taken back with them, is something only they could feel and share between them - but not describe. Experiences like these change the way you look at life and look at living. To Indian Army - Sahab log, aap sabko mera- shat shat naman !! Jai hind!! The Indian Army were saved to save the others. Much respect to them. You are amazing. You were sent there for the reason of cleaning the mountain. But behind that reason the real reason lies. To help the people who will need it when the tragedy hit them. You were sent there on the right time, right place and right moment. If you had not been there on that day, we don’t know what could have happened to the other mountaineers that are injured. The guy who recorded the avalanche, you are amazing too, we get to see and realise how dangerous it is to be up there.

Amazing men of the Indian army, very lucky for everyone else that they were there to help so much.

This is the combination of proper prep + competence + experience + right equipment + great leadership + bravery + united, from which I doubt some other climbers have less than half of the ingredients.

Slipped into watching Everest summi videos and somehow missed it because of the thumbnail... I must say this, brilliant story telling & camera work by the team... Thank you for such a wonderful documentary, and what a wonderful group of people cleaning up after this which is a real bug bear of mine when so many climbers leave rubbish everywhere. The leadership of the Indian Army and all its soldiers are a great example to everyone who climbs on the mountains. Tread lightly on this earth, leave nothing behind whenever you leave anywhere.
