For the record Mikael does write drum parts to a degree. He writes everything really, directly or indirectly. Not without influence from others but he's the musical mastermind that composes everything.
Yes, which is absolutely remarkable - Seriously, there's gotta be someone's else's soul in that dude's body half the time!! That's some evil, dark shit but brilliant.
But anyone in the band do have a say on any changes he lets the band add to what they play so they all have a say in the end result . It is the best way to keep your band together for a long time as we have seen with them & on the other side of the coin The Allman Brothers Band did the same & they survived damn near 50 years. True creativity comes from everyone that is in a band & works together .
Berly Tannyono Putra - I don't know how talented Grohl is because I have no interest in his music. But I have heard that he is one of the highest paid musicians of all time. Pretty sure he is considered to be the richest American Rocker. Kind of embarrassing.
Not being a massive Opeth fan myself I thought I'd give them a further listening, after a session that lasted about two hours I can fully say I'm a huge fan and fuck! This performance was unreal. Listen to them drums! Damn.
A friend of mine told me that Watershed is written from both guitarists. The main writer is mikael, frederick gave him an hand and in my opionion did a great job :)
It seems like they’re trying to solve an audio problem at 1:30 (and there’s a guitar part in the studio version that is absent here as a result), but I actually love the effect it creates. Guitar howling while the drumming just thrums onward.
Mike is so pissed at whoever is the Front of House engineer!!! He has those mad eyes going on because of that fucking screeching! Plus, his solo couldn't be heard well! Great performance nonetheless by the most amazing, unique, and unparalleled band in the world!!!
chaak castellanos Mike's growl has improved though. Chances are he might use that on the next record. He said he might revert back to being old-school or something like that
@astroandyborgloh I was lookin this up a couple of days ago actually. It's by a band Popol Vue and the song is Kleiner Kreiger. Info in the description. Cheers. watch?v=KzAT6PKGmuU
@marcuscengiz its not having any growls no, like none at all. Also what album were you listening to?! watershed had growls dude! or did you miss the Lotus Eater??
The finish is called transparent black or possibly charcoal though that colour is usually reserved for private stock instruments and the one Mikael is using here isn't a private stock. The quilt is a description of the maple
One of my highlights of the weekend along with Volbeat , Megadeth , Slipknot.....the list went on and on. A f**ck load of people there this year and trying to get the the bar after Limp Bizkit was almost comical I always seemed to be walking in the wrong direction! ;)
I was there, It was an amazing set, shame it started to rain As I was at the gig, I was unable to record it, do you have the orignal files, I would love to have a copy for my collection. I cant find them anywhere.
i vaguely recall a documentary where someone said something about how akerfeldt wrote the drum part. it isnt too far fetched i think; sometimes the guy who writes the main riffs has a pretty thorough idea what kind of beat they want with it.
Get some respect for other peoples taste of music for gods sake. I don't like Slipknot that much anymore, but I saw them in Stockholm last year and it was insane. Right now, Opeth is my number 1 favorite.
